Day 18 - Friday 24 February - Half Moon Cay

We both woke up around 6:00, and got up and watched sunrise and arrival. Again, not a super interesting arrival. The silly thing is, Half Moon Cay is literally in sight of Princess Cays. We could see both of them from either side, last night and this morning. They went up in a big triangle overnight and did nearly 300km just to keep moving. The could have saved a tonne of fuel and just nipped across and parked overnight. Silly really.

Had breakfast in the buffet again and again were down at the tenders at ~8:15, again with local tender boats.

Half Moon Cay is quite similar to Princess Cays, but the beach is like fifteen times better. Absolutely stunning.  The sort of place Mum dreams about going hehe.

Ran into Robin so went and dumped my stuff near them.

Went to the photoshoot with powder, but it was all a bit dumb because it was all super crowded and they didn't get everyone to stand back a bit and then Roxy got in the way of any decent shots anyway (hence why everyone was trying to get close I guess). Whatevs. Took a few photos then left.

Decided to do the super long walk alll the way to the northwest end of the beach where there's some rocks, which makes for slightly more interesting snorkelling. Except it's not really. Oh well. Saw some fish but Grand Turk was the most interesting snorkelling of the whole trip.

Ran into David and Leigh on the long walk back so stayed and chatted to them for a while and also went for another swim. The beach sure is pretty there.

Went and grabbed some lunch. The island doesn't have any local resources (noone even stays on the island overnight) so the cruise ships port over all their food and drinks machines and you get a buffet on the island. Pretty cool. I think they did this at Princess Cays as well but I didn't end up having anything there.

And then had another swim. Just because.

Back to the ship on the last tender (14:15 - early because we needed to hotfoot it back to Tampa - we were doing 21 knots most of the way back Tampa which is pretty much Carnival Pride's top speed!).

Had a shower and washed my hair and did photo backups (and realised that with the shower screen not quite closed and the bathroom door slightly open and the room curtains open I could see the ocean sailing by under the lifeboat we have out the front!!). Also realised I got slightly pink on my shoulders and the tops of my feet where sunscreen hadn't been reapplied properly (tops of feet were wet). But nothing too serious.

Finishing the last of the wine I brought on board (yay for having three non-drinker friends who were happy to bring a bottle each on board for me :) )

Splurged and had a cocktail while watching the sunset. Even talked David into a cocktail in Alchemy after.

Ran into Stefan and Sam (the Canadian ones not the models) and ended up having dinner with them in the buffet. Listened to the violin trio doing some Disney music for a bit before heading to bed.
