Day started off ok. Then I got to work and it went downhill. People going through my stuff, taking bits and then losing them really *really* pisses me off.
Otherwise it was generally a slow day. Moved a server across the road. Well the user did really. I supervised :)
Driving along behind this dude this arvo .. dude, you are so not suave.

Sarah is leaving cia :( It was bad enough when Campbell left, now it's going to be even harder to go..
My angel keeps laying eggs.. I wonder if she's hoping they'll hatch without a boy. She gets really agro at me whenever I come near the tank. Very funny.

Council cleanup came and went today. A lot of the stuff I put out got taken beforehand though, so that was cool. I saw a dude walking off with the CRT anti-glare screens last night, so glad they went.
And the Christmas funny of the day:

And finally, there's a cool doco on SBS right now about spam. Taping it so Stu and I can watch it later.
ok so it's Tuesday .. :) Saw this at Michael's and thought it would be fun.
1. How do you eat an Oreo cookie?
Well Oreos came here far too late for me to think up clever ways to eat them (and I'm not a huge fan of them anyway). But Mint Slices on the other hand. Well. First I would take a small bite at the front. Then I would nibble all around the edges. Then I would eat off the top layer of chocolate. Then I would eat off the bottom biscuit, then finally eat the icing. :)
2. How long does it take you to eat lunch?
er, never actually timed it. Probably 20 minutes? But total time away from the office is usually about an hour cause we walk a good 10 minutes away to get food, then there is the chat time after.
3. Caffeine or decaf?
In coffee? Well neither cause I don't drink the stuff :)
4. Chicken or beef?
If I'm eating out it's more often chicken, because I'm a bit picky about my beef and it's easier for them to stuff up beef I've found (too dry/chewy etc). At home I love a good steak.
5. Pen or pencil?
Depends what I'm doing really. I really like the Pacer style of pencils though.
6. Autumn or spring?
Spring
7. Baseball or basketball?
Neither really heh :)
8. 'Survivor' or 'The Amazing Race?'
Now that's a tough one.. probably The Amazing Race though.
:)
As mentioned yesterday, before the days of scanners and anything more than 16 colours, you really couldn't do much. Except have a bit of fun. Here's some stuff I did in the early nineties. I'm annoyed that I can't remember the name of the program I used. It wasn't Microsoft Paint, it was something else. It generated LBM files. It must have been Deluxe Paint I suppose....

So we went and saw Cars tonight. It was pretty good. It started to get a little slow in the middle and felt like it needed to *go* somewhere, but had a lot of humour and some exciting bits too. The funniest funniest bit was the tractor-tipping ;) And the dude that did the voice of Mack parodying himself and his role in Pixar films. Pixar's graphics are certainly improving too - the scenery and light reflecting stuff is just awesome now.
I kinda liked Jake's assessment of it - not the greatest Pixar film but that's like saying one of Beethoven's symphonies wasn't his greatest heh.
It was funny walking back out into the carpark afterwards and seeing all the cars, and half expecting them to be animated :)
Fairly productive day today. Went out for breakfast to Ascot Provisions - I was craving a cheese kransky. Except that I ended up with two kranskys, two eggs and some toast, and I didn't get through it all.. oops! Then went into town to do some shopping for Stu. He spent lots of money, but ended up with quite a few new clothes/shoes etc. Then came back and did a lot of tidying up around the flat. Tomorrow we get to do the really *fun* stuff - cleaning the oven, kitchen, bathroom and toilet.. :)
Bit of a blah day today. *stuff* just pissed me off.
Like people that *constantly* leave their chairs in the middle of the confined spaces of our office, so that I have to walk around them or push them out of the way *every single freaking time*. J's high and mighty solution: just push it out of the way and deal with it. Yeah good on you.
Or international phone lines that drop out so you can't hear what they're saying and you have to get them to repeat themselves constantly, with the added fun of two other people *right behind me* on their respective phones making trying to hear what's going on even more fun.
Or people that push in. I HATE people that push in. I hate selfish people. I hate people that don't give a damn about anyone else except themselves.
The new office arrangements are really stressing me out. I don't know how much longer it's going to be before I crack :/
Yay. Fun. I'm going to bed now.
Ever notice how "road trips" filmed in the US always show the scenic routes? Little back-country highways and the like. They never seem to show the rather boring I-number interstates (although some of those are pretty cool to drive on).
Then there was something about clutch starts. I haven't done one of those in years. I used to do them all the time when living at home and driving "red car" (a Datto 120-Y). You'd start the reverse out of the garage and then it would stall. So you'd roll the rest of the way out of the garage and begin the down hill of the driveway, and part way down you'd clutch start it in reverse. Fun stuff. Now I drive a car that just doesn't stall like that and I'm out of practise.
And there was something else I thought of while watching The Karate Kid tonight, but my brain didn't register it for long enough to write it down.
Oh well :)
Have I ever mentioned I rather like Stu? :):)
Ich is back in the big tank. The last remaining catfish looks a bit sad :( Will try and treat the tank or just him this weekend.
The baby kribs at work all got eaten within a few days. I should probably try and separate them next time..
Expecting big mama guppy at work to pop again in a few days.
Got a funky blue bubble light for the Macquarium, but it doesn't like the tank enough and bubbles violently which would be stressful for a betta in such a small tank. So will rethink the whole thing - perhaps put the blue light in the krib/guppy tank and get something else for the macquarium. One idea might be a rope light running all over the back of the tank which I saw done on one site. Someone else had made up an led "lid" which illuminated the tank really well with no external attachments.
Bit sad about the catfish still.
Current inventory of fish:
Tank 1
* two three-year old angels
* one three-year old glass catfish
Tank 2
* three pretty big corys
* four neon tetras
Baby Krib Tank
* six juvenile kribs
Tank "5"
* one yellow cichlid - probably Metriaclima barlowi ("Fred")
* one huge catfish ("George")
Work Tank
* twenty one (at last count a while back) kribs, some at breeding age
* two parent guppys
* ten four-month old juvenile guppys from original parents
* nine one-month old baby guppys from original parents
Work Bowl
* two of the four-month old guppys I think might be almost ready to breed
* five three month old blonde guppys I got off Stu in January
Got off to a bit of a slow start. Caught up on some blogs. Talked to Stu for a little bit. Went to the fish shop to trade up for a bigger gravel vac and get the bits of the underwater light that were missing. Came home and did a bit of sorting of stuff to get rid of on Freecycle. Ran out of steam late afternoon and felt a bit flat cause hadn't had a chance to talk to Stu all afternoon. Went to the parents for dinner, then got smsed/called from Ric and Campbell wondering where I was - turned out Campbell was having a farewell after all, but somehow I'd missed out on an invite :(
So wandered along to that, and it turned out to be a really nice night. Met Zara who has gotten herself into an even harder long-distance relationship - with a girl in London - and I thought *I* had it bad! Jess also showed me her extremelly funky handiwork with a GPS, a laptop and Google Earth. The gps outputs a csv to her laptop, and she's written an app that takes that and outputs it into a format that Google Earth can read, and she has a kml file that loads other kml files that have custom refresh rates that load the data from a cut-down web server on her computer so they come into Google earth every few seconds as network locations. But bottom line is, she can do traces of her travelling overlaid on google earth, so accurately you can see roundabouts and even which lane she was in when the data was recorded. And it shows how close google earth pictures are to their correct locations :) Way way way cool :) She's a much better geek than I am :)
I also managed to get Di and Daniel to play lots with my camera, so should have lots of fun photos, which I'll download tomorrow.. er.. later today :)
