Tonight a bunch of people from my boss's old work went ice skating at Fox Studios and I tagged along. I didn't even know they had an ice rink there until last week. Apparently it's been there for a couple of years during the winter, but I hadn't even heard of it. Anyway so a bunch of us went along, and I had an awesome time. I haven't been ice skating in *years*, so it took me a little while to get back into it. Fortunately I've done a lot of rollerblading in recent years (ok not so recent), so it didn't take too long to come back to me.
After skating a bunch of us went to Cafe Ciao in the Spot for dinner, which was all very pleasant. Overall I had a thoroughly fantastic night. This is precisely how Friday nights should be. None of this sitting at home alone stuff that I normally do. Friday nights should be a go-out-with-friends thing. Not to mention all the endorphins that get released with exercise, so I'm in a great mood at the moment :) Almost can't bring myself to plod through the rather depressing support mail that's there. Ah screw it, I think I'll just do it tomorrow!
night! :)

Well ok maybe not quite, but I don't have to go to work tomorrow so it may as well be ;)
Had dinner at Azteca's in Randwick tonight as KinHoong was in town and wanted to catch up with some of his old friends. It was a thoroughly pleasant evening. I had mole palablo (I think!) which was ok but nothing to write home about (just blog about, hehe).
It *rained* today which is great for the city. And the car too, it got a decent soaking. Previous days rain has just rearranged the dirt into little globules, this might have actually washed some of it off.
Anyways I'm gonna crash and enjoy a sleepin.
Well we didn't detroy the raid last night, but we didn't fix it either. For some reason the replacement disk is coming up as 0:04 instead of 0:00 like it should be, so the raid is still critical :( I've asked Mylex for help and they've given me a few things to try, so now waiting to hear from Campbell to see what he thinks.
I spent an hour and a half rearranging the plants in my fish tank (again) today. It's starting to get quite tiring, especially since I can't really reach the bottom of the tank, and even then I can only do things with one arm, which makes getting plants to stay planted *incredibly* difficult :( The big amazon sword keeps drifting up no matter what I do. I have a rock plonked on top of half the roots to stop it floating away altogether. A lot of the other plants are giving me similar grief. With all the putting and taking, I stirred up a lot of crap, so now the water is this yukky green-yellow colour, so I'm going to let it settle down before I do anything else (which was going to include getting a couple of clown loaches - maybe next week).
Now for the Friday Five:
1. Do you like talking on the phone? Why or why not?
Depends on who it is :)
2. Who is the last person you talked to on the phone?
Campbell arranging the disk replacement last night
3. About how many telephones do you have at home?
Two landline handsets and a mobile
4. Have you encountered anyone who has really bad phone manners? What happened?
er.. dunno..
5. Would you rather pick up the phone and call someone or write them an e-mail or a letter? Why or why not?
For strangers definitely an email. For friends it really depends on the situation. Usually email, except if I need an answer straight away
I only got through part of my todo list for this weekend :(
Just too busy :( And didn't recover my lost sleep either. Argh it's a disaster.
Didn't get to reinstall windoze, didn't get to do a dvd database for my friends, didn't get Esther read, didn't get the washing up done.
Did manage to get some new fish, go to cousin's engagement party, a bit of programming, and dinner at a friend's place
Well today was how weekends *should* be. Morning relaxing, reading up on tropical fish, answering support mail, reading mail. Trek out and about window shopping at a couple of different aquarium stores, pick up a dvd player on the way home. Clean up the unit. Have friends over for dinner, enjoy some wine and company. Go to bed feeling pleasantly relaxed.
I'm going to need a Dr Video device for my dvd player, as my tv is so ancient it only has an aerial input. And I can't play it through a vcr thanks to macrovision. Jaycar make a little device that strips out the macrovision (although probably with some loss of quality - but with my video/audio setup it probably won't be noticable) which should let me view dvds properly.
*yawn* I'm off to bed.. night! :)
