Dave's Artificial Duck Shop is now online! Just now in fact!
Now if I didn't have to wait on two other people, I could have gone and bought something...
just some thoughts :)
Back to work today. Didn't really want to be there. Managed to achieve crap-all today. That is, achieved stuff but it was pretty much all crap - like creating purchase orders and teaching other people how to do them.
Really need to do some brain-dumping of the crap in my head, except most of what I do is likely to be redundant in a year, and noone will ever read it anyhow. Still, I suppose the process is good practise, and will be nice to have a record of everything.
Trying to be more organised at home. Working on lists and trying to work through them. Still sooooooo much to do. Flylady would say 15 minutes at a time. Just need to have lists of things that I can actually *do* in 15 minutes, as opposed to projects I feel like I need to dedicate hours at a time to ....
Had another slow start. Was gonna visit my cousin but decided it was all too hard. So just said goodbye to various people, then meandered home. Came down Thunderbolts Way for something different to do. It was a reasonably nice way to go, quite scenic, but the road quality isn't that great, and you wouldn't want to get stuck behind someone slow. We had lunch at Gloucester, and stopped at various Stu churches and residences in the Hunter Valley. Had KFC in East Maitland for dinner and got home around 8:30. Funnily enough it feels a lot later.
According to the trip meter, we did 2400 km in the car, Stu will add another 600km for his parts to Canberra. Craziness!

I've become a Google Whore. I now have Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Reader open constantly, regularly use Google Earth and Google Maps, sometimes use Google Groups, and play with Google Sketchup.
Gmail and/or Google Calendar have massive memory leaks though. After leaving them open for any length of time, memory usage for the browser climbs and climbs until my puta grinds to a halt. It seems to be a problem in both IE and Firefox. I suppose the alternative is to reload the browser every so often, but that's a pain in the butt at the best of times. Hopefully someone will fix it.
I've also been using the Google news reader for a week or two. It worked really well last weekend, and was able to keep up with my news feeds from Stu's place. (SH - you *can* UNmark an item as read - just untick the "Mark as read" box.. seems to work ok for me anyway). The biggest problem with it is with people that don't have full feeds, or have badly formatted full feeds (Delmer this means you). To read the entry you have to click on the link to read the article at its source. Which opens up a new browser window which is messy. I prefer how FeedReader does it by opening the article within the frame.
Does anyone know why some Blogspot feeds have the full feed and others just have the beginning/abstract?
At the moment I'm thinking I might try and use the Google Reader for most stuff, and keep using Feedreader for people with messy feeds...
I know there's a lot of people out there that feel passionately about Daylight Savings (usually the ones that hate it and think it should be abolished). I for one wish it went for longer (or even all the time). Yes I hate getting up in the dark in winter. But I hate getting home in the dark even more. Once it gets dark at home *nothing* gets done. I only get stuff done around the house when it's light. Once it gets dark I just sit at my computer. And I don't want to go out for a walk when it gets dark either.
Feeling a bit down.
Gosh Friday night feels like such a long time ago. Had my last full daylight drive to Canberra, and was stunned at how green the countryside is at the moment.

We had beer and sweet chili and sour cream potato chips for dinner .. naughty .. :) Watched some telly and ended up watching Ella Enchanted.
Saturday morning went out to Gold Creek Village to Cafe Injoy with A&S and the kids and had their all day breakfast, which was delicious

Then went across the road and caused a koi feeding frenzy

And the ducks wanted in as well, but one duck decided the whole pond was his and was chasing all the others away.

We all headed out to Belconnen to go to the fresh food market. The kids played in the giant mushroom, and the Stus found a sign that caused them great amusement

This amused me too

S&K&J came by in the arvo too which was nice.
For dinner we went to Pulp Kitchen in Ainslie for their six week dry aged sirloin, which was yummiferous, although I didn't quite go for the oysters they put on top. I've had two oysters in my life previous to this, now I'm up to about five :)

After dinner Stu took me on a magical mystery tour. He tried to convince me that we were really going home, but we were just going the wrong way entirely hehe. He took me up Mt Ainslie, where I took some photos of the city, but sans-tripod. So will have to back again at some point :)

He also took me to Manuka and we had a little bit of a wander around and checked out where all the trendy people hang out.
On Sunday we were going to go to church, but it was 9C and I didn't have a jumper (it was 35C in Sydney on Saturday - how am I meant to know to bring a jumper?? heh). So we didn't end up going out. Well not then. We did later to get coffee, and went to Big W and bought A Beautiful Mind.

While we were out I noticed how clear the sky was from all the rain all day Saturday and the strong winds in the morning, so made Stu take me up Black Mountain

And a couple more shots of Canberra city

Cooked steak and veggies for dinner and watched A Beautiful Mind.
Today Stu went to work and I telecommuted. The connection was a bit laggy, but I think that it's actually my work computer which is just chugging these days. During my lunch break I went shopping, and did a scrumptious pork roast for dinner. And Stu has a few days worth of leftovers to keep him going :)
Don't really feel like going to work tomorrow....
I use that term as an expletive. Organising people sux. Trying to pick a date for something when you don't know if you're going to have a job and trying to organise a good time of year to go to another country and then having to deal with the nonsense of when people can come "oh no I can't do it then" so I try for another date and "I can't do it then either" and then there's all the people that are likely to only want to come during school holidays, and the people that *can't* come during school holidays. It makes me want to just give up on the whole idea as a bad joke.
As seen at Dave and Neil's yonks ago ...
Do you read blogs off of the list that is linked on your site or do you use a feed reader?
I used to read them off my homepage, but it just got too much, and so many sites don't update daily anyway
If so, what feed reader?
I use FeedReader but tempted to look at Google reader cause I always get so far behind whenever I go away for the weekend.
What about adding people to your feed reader?
I try not to do it too much anymore cause I have enough to deal with. But occasionally if something sparks my interest I'll add them.
What is your policy on adding people to your blogroll?
Most of the blogs in my feedreader are there, except newer ones or ones that I don't really feel part of (don't post often or I'm just a distant lurker)
What about deleting them from your blogroll?
Usually only when they die (the blogs that is :) )
Would you delete them from your reader and not your blogroll?
Not usually. I archive old blogs in feed reader, delete off blogroll.
