well you can, but you'd probably end up with a hangover :)

Today was another hot and sticky day, with minimal use on my puta because it would have just melted the fishies. As a consequence I got almost nothing done. Although I did tidy the flat almost to the point of respectfullness, and even did the vaccuuming!

Then a lovely night out with good wine and company. *smiles*

Last night was also fun; Pete (who I went to America with a few years ago) organised a night out with a bunch of people, which was great. James was completely in his element (a self-confessed people hater like me), and it was good to see him come to life for a change.

Now it's 9:35 and I just feel like sleeeeeping .. :)

Fishy fishy

Have been sifting through the material on the Meaning of Life bonus dvd and came across a 16 minute segment of a camera setup in front of a marine fish tank. There's a stoopid commentary from one of the fish, and it's not a big long take, but more a like a 2 min loop. It's still pretty cool though.

I organised my todo list this morning and started ploughing my way through it. I didn't get through everything I wanted to today, but at least I made a decent start at it.

So I'm ordering a pizza, and they've introduced a voice recognition system which is just not what I'm expecting, so makes my slightly fuzzy brain start to think things are weird with the universe. Of course it doesn't help that I've had a couple of drinks. Not that many, but still weird. And this is after watching a couple of scenes of ET that I'm sure I've never seen before. OK so I've only seen the movie like twice in my life, once at the movies when I was 9 and again a few years ago. But I generally have a fairly good memory for movies and I'm quite sure these scenes are new. I guess that's why they call it special edition.

Had our work Christmas party today, which was altogether pleasant, except of course for the flies. Tip to newbies: flies appear to be more attracted to prawns than anything else, so to stop them trying to eat the rest of your food, empty a few prawn shells onto a plate and let the flies swarm around that :)

off to go get my pizza... mmmm pepperoni pizza... mmmmmm :)

Third time lucky?

Hoping to get a decent sleep-in tomorrow. Somehow doubt it will happen.

Survivor this week was pretty cool. Although talk about a cliffhanger to see who'd get to go back into the game next week.

Nothing much else is happening really.

A day in the life of Kazza the Blank One:

8am: nuke customer mail that's over quota. Clear a gig or two of disk space off an almost full disk drive.

9am: book David Bowie tickets. Pretty crappy seats unfortunately, but what can you do. I've been waiting 13 years for this.

11am: head over to James and George's and help demolish a brick staircase/play chauffeur/chuck bricks off the ute into the tip with three minutes before closing time to get them all off

5pm: go to Guy and Sami's flat warming. Managed to not freak out at "scary" person being there. Still didn't really talk to her at all, but at least could make eye contact with her once or twice. After a barbie the girls played games while the boys watched the footy. Decided Rapidoh is not my thing, especially when up against Lizzi, but Pictionary is still my specialty.

11pm: get home and check email. Find someone is willing to "give a generous offer" for this domain - kazza.id.au. Not for sale buddy :) (and it's actually illegal to sell .au domain names anyway)

12am: sleeeeeeeeeeep

Previous paragraph snipped cause I think it would get me into too much trouble if anyone I know from work ever read it.

Feeling sucky at the moment. Grumpy and depressed and *really* not wanting to go to work.

I've been a day ahead of myself all week. Wishing tonight was Friday so I could release a little dopamine and sleep in. Maybe I should chuck a sickie tomorrow and use up some of time in lieu.

Grumbly

Feeling totally grumbly at the moment. Perhaps it's because I was meant to be going out tonight but everyone's piked so that's not happening. Or that fact that it's cold and wet and miserable outside. Or that I haven't done the washing up and the kitchen feels cold.

I've gotten some way through tidying up the place, but still a long way to go. Been reading Harry Potter. I got the first couple of books the other day, and the first one is so tiny compared to the last one. I'm 2/3 of the way through it and I've only been reading it sporadically since last night. This was after finishing The Catcher in the Rye, which turned out to be boring as. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it was just two days in the life of a high school drop out. Big deal.

Who is the Mole?

jonquils

Out of the 3 reality tv shows I watch (Survivor, The Amazing Race and The Mole), my favourite by far is The Mole. The others you can watch and can get to a point where you hope someone wins over someone else, but with the Mole there is a puzzle to solve which takes you the whole series to work out, and even then you may not get it. They're about to finish the fourth series of it here tonight, and I think Shaun is the mole. I originally discounted him cause he looked a little dumb to play the mole, but I think it may be an act more than anything. We'll see in two hours :)

Life in Sydney has returned to a much more civilised temperature after a week of hot dry weather, which unfortunately has left a few of my balcony plants a little worse for wear. Normally I only water them once per week, but I should have checked on them during the week this week :( Oddly enough, the big fern is still as bright as ever, even though it surely would consume more water than the other plants. I do have some lovely jonquils though that I planted about three weeks ago, and they're already flowering :)

Incidently, if you get really sticky masking tape and leave it lying around, cockroaches will stick to it. I have one trapped at the moment which I'm about to throw out, but it's been there for a couple of days and it's still alive... ewwwwwww!

Olympics Memories

It was totally unreal in Sydney during the Olympics. The majority of people were on holidays, so there was noone on the roads. I chose to continue working, so had dream drives into work, and then spent half my time watching "ip tv" olympics coverage, as there wasn't really much work to do any way.

Everyone was in a party/holiday mood. There was stacks of free entertainment round the city. The public transport system performed absolutely flawlessly.

We went out to Olympic Park to see a few things, and while it was insanely crowded, it was all very organised, thanks in no small part to the army of volunteers, and there was hardly any queueing for anything.

My biggest regret was not getting to see the opening ceremony. When I saw the opening ceremony for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles I thought at the time that it would be a such a once in a lifetime event that if it ever came to Sydney I'd *have* to see it. My mother and I both applied for tickets, but we didn't get them. I didn't regret not having to pay $1345 *per ticket*, but I still really would love to have been there. I also wanted to go to one of the dress rehearsals, but you couldn't get tickets for that (you had to know people or be involved). My friend Liz was a volunteer, and her "beat" was Stadium Australia, so she got to see it for free.
