Tonight we went and saw x+y.
I'd never even heard of it. In fact I didn't even know what we were seeing until we got to the theatre.
I thought it was lovely - a bit funny, awkward, very well done, and a bit emotional. Quite enjoyed it.
Afterwards we had supper at Max Brennar's and ate entirely too much.

The rest of today was just housework and photo sorting and stuff.
Three years ago today we went to Zippori and Nazareth.
Friday: Scotch Malt Whiskey Society tasting. A lovely evening of nice whiskeys and great friends.

Saturday: went out to the club. Chilled out, had a nice dinner by C&G, a bit of fun with cards (I might have won the plastic spoons - not the wooden spoons that the loser got :) ) and a lazy Sunday morning.
Sunday: not a lot.
We've watched three episodes so far of Rake on Netflix. Netflix does seem to be working well, despite our crappy internet. And I think the sweetie likes Rake heh.
Busy couple of days at work.
The housework is sliding a bit.
But I did also finish re-geotagging my Hong Kong and Taipei photos. I can't actually remember even doing it last year. But I must have. Surely?? I think I'm getting dementia. :(
So spent the beginning and the end of the weekend swimming with EffanC.
Friday night was a club swim night at a private indoor pool. Which should be nice in winter. Except. The room has terrible acoustics, which meant it got very loud with not many people. And then people started pegging balls at each other which made it all kinds of tedious. But then some people left and it quieted down which made it nicer. Went back to EffanC's and we had some wine and cheese and watched Peter Jackson's Braindead, which apparently used the most fake blood in a movie ever. But the horror was all so cheesy and fake that it didn't bother me. Then a couple of episodes of The Katering Show which was hilarious.
Saturday was very quiet, just housework and painting and tv.
Sunday we did some food shopping and then more of the same. In the evening we met up with EffanC for dinner. We were going to go to Kinh Do, but it was booked out, so ended up at Chong Co.

Then back to our place for a chilly swim.
Whoops so I didn't post all weekend..
This ring tail possum was at the club on NYE. I touched its tail because I could.

Friday was super hot. The birds were suffering. Crows and magpie larks were coming to the fountain at the Labor Club to get a drink and cool off in the shade.

Did our food shopping and came home.
Saturday I did some housework, and got a bit annoyed that it feels like I'm *always* cleaning the house. It's just never ending :/
We did jump in the pool to cool off though which was nice.
In the evening we went over to EffanC's to have a glass of bubbly and some cheese before we went to the movies.

Wine at the Palace

Then back to their place for a fairly late dinner (of some very nice quiche and salad).
Sunday was more suffering in the heat.
In the afternoon mum came down from Sydney to stay. She *finally* had a swim in our pool (for one reason or another it'd never happened before). I had a beef stew going in the slow cooker all afternoon. For dessert we had Heston Blumenthal's Hidden Orange Pudding. I'd seen these advertised on tv before Christmas, but didn't get one. Then on Friday saw them for half price so grabbed one. It was pretty good.

And today was back in the deep end trying to stay afloat again.
I don't really even have any interesting photos either.
Last Saturday was housework in the morning then headed out to the club.
Sunday we stopped in at Potty's to show him the new car.
Monday the little brother came over and stayed the night. We had a tuna bake and watched Cities of the Underworld (Paris) which Dave thought was pretty cool because he'd actually *been* to not just the catacombs but also the stuff off the old disused train line. We also started watching Total Recall but I didn't have the energy to stay up to the end of it.
Spent a good chunk of the week working through decommissioning stuff. It takes just as much effort, if not more, than commissioning. hrmm.
Thursday was bbq at @CLBradley's.
Friday we got Dumpling Inn takeaway and had Gaelian and Stef over.
We had a random cat show up last night too, meowing at the door. It seemed a bit frightened. It looked like it wanted to come in out of the cold but was a bit to scared to. And when it did come in it wanted to go straight out again. Had collars but couldn't find a name tag. Hope it was all right.
This week was thoroughly insane. We did manage to get a lunch in at Zierholz, but other than that it was super super busy all week.
Last night I managed to escape and I picked up Stu's car, then him, then we went to the Dumpling Inn for dinner. Shredded beef peking style and combination chow mein - our usual dishes.
Today I did a bit of housework, a bit of monitoring some testing, and then a pile of my own testing. This afternoon we went out to hack some portals and climbed Mt Rogers. Hopefully all the fresh air and exercise will help us sleep tonight.

What's been happening.
At work I've been fighting a really weird network problem trying to figure out what the heck is going on and not getting anywhere.
Thursday night I watched Grease on tv. On Friday night we went to the Dumpling Inn for dinner then did our food shopping. Watched Se7en with the sweetie, although I was getting really tired by the end of it and was struggling to stay awake.
Saturday morning we went to Ellacure for breakfast. I had eggs benedict. Sadly the bacon was over cooked (is that even possible??) and the eggs a tad overdone too. Definitely not the best eggs benedict I've ever had. The waitresses were lovely and service was prompt, however the place was packed so it was forty minutes from arriving to getting our food.

Saturday night after dinner I went over to Kit's for drinks as she had a friend over. Stayed up a bit too late.
Today Potty and family came and picked me up and we all went out to the Hall Markets, which I'd never actually been to before.

Other than that, mostly jigsawing. Barely did any housework this weekend, although Stu achieved lots, so at least one of us had a productive weekend heh.
Last Sunday morning we headed home from Sydney with a car load of crap in tow. Caught up on housework/washing etc in the afternoon.
On Monday I finished packing up and inventoring Jake's Lego.
On Tuesday I suffered from major lack of sleep. We went to the Dumpling Inn for dinner (mixed chow mein and shredded beef peking style) then did our food shopping. Came home and dismantled most of the Star Destroyer (that had also been constructed at Christmas 2009) while watching TV.
On Tuesday night I still couldn't get to sleep, so Wednesday was more misery. Watched some pretty cool rainstorms out the window at work. When I got home however, there was a small stream of water going across the garage floor. Which would have been fine, except it intersected with my old desk that I've had for thirty five or so years, and the chipboard at the bottom all swelled up :(:(:( So that was pretty annoying. My parents still have the matching beds, and I still use the matching set of drawers. I was hoping to sell/give away the things as a set one day so that's a bit of a poo. In the evening it poured with rain again, so I collected a whole heap of it and put it in the pool.

Wednesday night I finished dismantling the Star Destroyer, and started the remaining section of my Life jigsaw.

Thursday night we got pizza and watched The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which I hadn't seen since I saw it at the movies in 2005.
On Friday a bunch of us got pork knuckles from Zierholz. Omigosh they were *huge*. I got through all the meat/crackling on mine (but only just) but didn't quite finish the sides. Pretty much everyone said the experience of it was good, but noone would really be interested in having it again - simply too much food. I reckon it'd go well shared between two people. I didn't have any dinner that night.

Friday night was more jigsawing while watching Angels and Demons, which I hadn't seen.
Saturday morning I cleaned the gutters and flushed the downpipes which were all completely clogged. Then we headed out to the club, but I'll leave that for another post.
Today was catching up on housework as well as doing more jigsaw and tv show catching up.

So last night F&C came over for dinner. We had a swim first up, accompanied by wine and nibbles from the Spa Bar. Then the sweetie did some very nice marinated salmon. Somehow it came up that we should watch Meaning of Life, so we did, while sampling some very nice single malt whiskeys. Then another dip in the pool because it was still super hot.
Today I did housework and Lego dismantling and then our food shopping. This evening Fiona and Bruce came over and we had more wine and cheese in the pool followed by pizza for dinner and The Big Lebowski.
It's too danged hot.
Three months ago yesterday we walked the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong and went up to The Peak and I explored the ladies markets. Three months ago today we took a ferry to Lantau Island and visited Tai O and Ngong Ping, and watched the Symphony of Lights.
Went to Jake's today and basically took the rest of his Lego away. So I have pretty much all of it except for what he got for Christmas. Found a bunch of missing things which was useful, and matched up some of the pieces I had here with the sets he had mostly complete. Only a couple more sets to check over now.
Had lunch in Gungahlin and did a bit of food shopping.
Otherwise the day was pretty much just housework, paint-by-numbers, Lego and watching telly with the sweetie.
