Bit of a suck day today. Couldn't get to sleep last night. Then had a headache all day so didn't get much work done. Then got home quite late (although it was good to catch up with Campbell) so my time at home was already limited then Thorpey needed some help with fixing up a script. So suddenly it's nearly 10pm and I've barely had time to breathe :/

And the little javascript buttons in Movable Type don't work in the latest version of Firefox. So I *have* to use IE if I want to use them. And the latest version of Firefox also appears to have the "sometimes-won't-copy" bug. Whereby you highlight something and copy to clipboard, but it doesn't actually copy, it just clears the clipboard. For such a massive bug you'd think they'd have fixed it by now. It drives me completely nuts at work. And they say IE is buggy....

Anyway, for a bit of fun check this out - http://www.lovepixel.idv.tw/ - which further proves that some people have *way* too much time on their hands :)

I was going to mention this the other night but forgot. While I was driving home from work on my birthday, listening to a radio station I don't normally listen to, they had a "on this day" segment and mentioned some people that had this birthday. Aside from Kieren Perkins and Kate Ritchie that I already knew about, it turns out that Hector Crawford and Peter Costello also share my birthday.

Hector Crawford, executive producer of such cool shows as The Flying Doctors (mmmm Peter O'Brien yummm) and the Henderson Kids (mmmm Alex Papps yummm), and lots of other classic Aussie drama was born in 1913.

Peter Costello, the current Australian treasurer, was born in 1957.

And armed with that thoroughly useless piece of information ....

Breakfast was some cereal. Don't actually know what it was. Whatever looked interesting and was on special when I bought it.

Morning tea was yummy chocolate cake George made for last night but ended up at work as leftovers.

Lunch was stir-fry satay chicken from the Thai place near work, thoroughly delicious, Luc's shout.

Afternoon tea finished off the cake. Well, I had help of course. Any food left in our office gets devoured. Although I did give have to convince a few people the eat the last pieces so it wouldn't go stale overnight.

Dinner was scotch fillet steak and mustard, with mushrooms fried in garlic and peas and corn, with my last Cadbury Creme Egg from Easter for dessert.

Overall not a bad day. Except for generalised feelings of depression in the morning from a world that's just gone crazy, and missing my boy ....

So where were we? Yesterday .. never quite got around to blogging....

Stu and I were having a lazy Saturday morning when the little brother called up and said did we want to use my Sizzler 25% off voucher this weekend. The problem being we couldn't do Sunday at all, they couldn't do Saturday night, and couldn't make it to our end of town for Saturday lunch. So we went out to meet them at their end of town :) As per usual I didn't get anywhere near my fair share of food, having a small stomach and all. I had some nice barramundi (although not quite as nice as Friday's $7 salmon :) ). But they did get me a wayyyyyy cool birthday present - the first two seasons of MacGyver on dvd - me a happy girl :) After lunch went with Yvonne to check out her work, and then via some pet stores and back home. Saturday night was just watching dvds of Star Trek and Toy Story 2.

This morning went to church for Rachel's baptism, followed by a lunch afterwards. Then came home to collapse for a while before heading out to Alan and Marylon's for dinner. Had a go at six-person hand bells (12 bells), which was pretty cool, although people kept forgetting where they were up to .. I was just following my sheet in front of me and didn't have too many problems. Needed someone not ringing to call numbers tho.. heh

Now just need to wait and hear if the boy made it home safely .....

Grunties

They moved everything to a new web server last week. All fine and dandy, except that the Perl GD module is not installed on the new server, so my comments have been broken since Thursday. Grunties.

I've had to disable the scode comment thingie for now until they either install perl GD, or I can find something different to use. I might check in with Neil, he was doing some research on it. Or I might just write something basic of my own. Just have a word printed that people need to type in. That'll still stop most of the bots....

Bowling for Columbine was on the other night, so taped it and finished watching it tonight. It truly paints a frightening picture of America. Which is ironic because a major message in the film is that everyone in America is kept living in fear. The South Park-like video of the white people living in fear is very well done.

The statistics on gun deaths in America are just staggering. Like over *eleven thousand* per year in the US versus sixty-something here and a couple of hundred in countries like England, Germany and France.

I seriously don't get how a country with sooooo much money has problems with so many people on low incomes and next to zero health care unless you have insurance. Surely if they didn't spend all their money blowing up other countries and just taking care of their own people instead, it really could be a great country....

Grumpy day today. Grumpy with people. Grumpy with servers. Grumpy at not getting enough of the boy all day. At least one thing worked in the end with the server I was working on. Would have been annoying and time consuming to fix if it hadn't worked.

Had to go back to work today. A thoroughly depressing thought after such a lovely weekend. But instead of reading, I decided to *do*.. and setup a little active directory domain on some old computers, with dhcp and everything. Tomorrow I will turn on firewalls and watch to see what breaks..... heh

Came home and got a few bits and pieces done, although not any unpacking, which was the only thing I actually had planned to do tonight. Oops. But I did get last week's washing put away, does that count..? :)

Am feeling like I'm having an immune response. Lots of sick people at work. Worried I'm coming down with something. Took a C/echinacea/Zinc/Garlic tablet and will have some more tomorrow... and an early night tonight....
