Almost there..

Started freaking out last night about how much was left to do before Christmas, including just about all our Christmas shopping and a tonne of stuff to do at work.

Had a relatively successful day today, and most of our Christmas shopping is done.

Went to the Dumpling Inn for dinner - had the mixed chow-mein and shredded beef peking style.

But while taking those photos I've discovered that something is seriously wrong with Random Camera :(:( The other day (can't remember when, maybe when I was trying to take photos of the bugs on the cherry tree), random camera wouldn't turn on. Just dead. So I swapped out the battery and all was good. Charged it up and forgot about it. Then tonight I tried to turn it on, and dead again. Swapped the battery to get it to work. So something is draining the battery completely even while the camera is off. Most distressing and means I might have to go through the whole hassle of trying to get it repaired :(:(:(

Convinced I'm Dying

(TMI post, you've been warned)

So I'm convinced I'm dying. Or at least have some sort of immunodeficiency. I've been sick for basically two months straight. I've never been this sick in my life.

To summarise:

* bad flu after Sydney in September that had me off work for most of the week

* ear infection, probably bacterial, took three weeks of antibiotics to get over

* gastro or food poisoning the night of our work ball (during the antibiotics run)

* weird eye infection just after I finished the antibiotics, don't know if viral or bacterial (both tests were negative)

* cold from one of the boys at the coast, done by the time I went to Melbourne

* bad cold or flu that started the Sunday night in Melbourne which made my training week pretty miserable

* persistent sore throat since about Saturday that I'm convinced is another bacterial infection (still coughing too)

Being stressed about being sick sabotages my means of getting better (ie, sleeping) and haven't felt up to doing any proper exercise in forever.

*sigh*

Training, Day 2

Felt pretty sick today. If I'd been at home I might have stayed there.

Was an ok day two. Learnt a few things, but not a whole heap that I hadn't already learnt by playing with the device.

Had lunch with Daniel and Pablo. Stoopid cafe with far too many people that kept bumping into me - very stressful :( But a nice catchup after I calmed down.

Felt a bit better in the evening. Went to the Mitre Tavern with Phil for a pint of Mountain Goat and salt and pepper squid.

Another early night for me though.

London Wandering Take Three

Day three of our London wanderings. 477 photos geotagged today.

Had leftover lamb roast for dinner tonight (leftovers from Saturday night - had Kat over for dinner). Been anxious for the better part of today and this evening. Stoopid stressful work :( Need to remember to stay calm, otherwise I'll end up with high blood pressure like last time it was this stressful at work :(

Lego BrickExpo 2011

Today I organised to meet up with Neil at Woden at 2pm to join the queue for Brick Expo 2011! I told Nat and Andrew we were going, and they turned up a little after 2pm as well.

It took us fifty minutes to make our way along the queue and into the room they'd setup (which was a bigger room than last time). There was a lot more Lego there this year, looks like a lot of SydLUG people had brought Lego down as well.

They didn't have the Hogwarts Castle this time, but there was a super awesome Space Lego setup (probably my favourite thing of the day) and an amazing western scene.

Last year when I went my camera was exactly one day old. This year it was exactly one year old. !! To the day! Since changing the focus mode in Japan last year I've been a lot happier with the results out of the camera, and generally this year's photos were better than last year's.

By 3:30 the room was starting to thin out, and by 4pm there was wide open spaces. So glad we decided to stick around, as it made for much less stressful viewing of Lego with no crowds and kids sticking their heads in the way of photos.

Debating whether I should join CLUG (and display any of my Lego at one of these things - but I don't think I could do that - I'd be far too stressed about kids touching my Lego and breaking things and losing pieces... hrmmm.. maybe if I could display stuff behind plexiglass?? :) )

Landlording

Had an annoying phone call from the real estate agent today. They want me to pay for new blinds because some slats have broken on the old ones. Now when I was living there, some slats broke (ok they're a pretty crap design - only held on by a tiny piece of plastic at the top). But this was because I had the windows open and the blinds closed. Wind blows, stresses plastic, plastic breaks. So I fixed them before I moved out ($80 for 20 new slats - I only needed five but there was a minimum number and I thought I may as well have a few spares. But only for the windows, not the longer ones in the living room).

What this means is that the tenants have been doing the same thing - having the windows open and the blinds closed. And now I have to pay for it. *sigh* #firstworldproblems

Perspective

I haven't been super stressed at work so much lately, but I have been in the past. Sometimes it helps to realise that if I have a bad day, or if I get distracted by crap and forget something (that happens a lot), noone will die!! There's certainly no way I could ever be an Air Traffic Controller, that's for sure. I wonder how life has been for her these past twenty years...

Barely got any sleep after 3am this morning. Hoping I have better luck tonight.

It's been a few days...

Thursday

Thursday night after drinks we went out for dinner to Thai Chiang Rai. We got the $35 banquet, but in my mind it was over priced. There wasn't that much food, or variety for that matter. I only remember two meat dishes and a vegetable dish for mains. That place is always pretty hopeless though.

Then we headed up to AMF for a couple of games of bowling. That was lots of fun, even though I did pretty badly (I always do!) 76 and 86 for my scores I did beat a couple of the guys though, so that was pretty nifty :)

The computer system at AMF is completely borked. I didn't get registered for spares I got - not once but twice! After the first time though we figured out how to reprogram the actual scores, because it got them wrong over and over again.

Friday

Documented the "Square Peg in a Round Hole" (as Doc has dubbed it) sculpture. RiotACTed too :)

Then walked home with Tony

Had a shower then headed out straight away to meet up with Dave and Steve (the sweetie was meant to come but he had to go to Melbourne for work) to see Much Ado About Nothing. As always I spent the first part of it trying to figure out who was who and what was going on. That mostly sorted itself out and I might have actually enjoyed it, except I had restless legs through the *entire* thing and spent more time getting stressed out about that concentrating on the play. Two and a half hours of sheer torture :(:(:(:( Makes me question whether I can *ever* go to the theatre again :(

Saturday

The sweetie wasn't going to be home til mid afternoon, so I did some menu planning for the week, then went out grocery shopping. By myself. First time in three and a half years! Freaky ;)

Cooked a variation of Alan's Beef Stew (no sour cream and much more tomatoey), and redid the Violet Crumble Cheesecake slice. This time I found a more solid cream cheese instead of the "spreadable" stuff, which made the slice firmer which was better. I also bought four big bars of violet crumble, since you can't buy pieces in bags in Australia anymore :(:( The real violet crumble was a lot nicer that the dodgy-brothers brand, although probably three times the cost. Oh well.

Sunday

Another foggy morning. Took a time-lapse of the end of it, but next time I'll try and remember to setup and record the whole thing instead of starting when it's partly cleared.

When I was shopping yesterday, I saw Coles had packs of streaky bacon. They called to me. Loudly. So had bacon and egg for breakfast - yummmmmm!!

Cotter Dam open day (take 2)

On Saturday they had another open day at Cotter Dam. Except this time you had to book tickets in advance. So the whole was much more pleasant and civilised than last time, which involved lots of standing around trying to shelter from the rain and getting stressed over people pushing in trying to get onto the buses.

Epic crap day (evening) at work.. accidently broke half the network for a couple of hours.. *yay*. Stressed/depressed.. they'll most likely fire me in the morning :(

Dave gave me a lift home, and I snaffled his camera to take photos of grasshoppers while he was getting petrol.

Can somebody please kill me now? :(
