and I don't think it has anything to do with the glass of wine I had 5 hours ago. We just had a four hour annual owner's meeting for our block of flats. Talk about children bickering. Three people that didn't turn up to the last meeting (that was cancelled due to lack of quorum, but perhaps they put in proxy votes) came along rather upset about a few things, and it all ended up in swearing and name calling. It was all rather unpleasant, and not something I'm used to. Then we had a show-and-tell out the back where the Moreton Bay fig tree is tearing up the driveway, garages and even the building which changed the atmosphere markedly, as everyone then had something in common to be on the one side about. The second part of the meeting was a whole lot more civilised than the first.

It also looks like I might be getting my own support queue to look after at cia, so that'll be kinda nice. It'll just be for the windoze support .. although they're yet to set it up for me.. maybe after the team meeting on thursday..

1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it?
Yes. Donna Bonnefin. We were best friends from about Kindergarten through to year 2 or 3. Then she dumped me for Kerry Williams. I saw them once after primary school; that was fifteen years ago.
2. Are you still in touch with this person?
No, see above
3. Do you have a current close friend?
Close friend or best friend? I have about 3 close friends, one best friend.
4. How did you become friends with this person?
Met them while they were working in commed and I was doing my honours degree
5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why?
Sometimes I get vague feelings of nostalgia when thinking about people I used to know. But I suck at keeping up with people.

Well, it seems I am out of my part time job. Oddly enough I was fired by the other support guys rather than management, although it was management that inspired it. The story goes something along the lines of: with me doing all the cia support, it's not giving a true indication of the amount of work that the other guys have to do, and so they can't make their case to management that they need more staff, because I'm doing so much work. Now if you can see the logic in that, then congratulations.

It's kinda hard to write here cause none of would make any sense without knowing the background. But basically this is a job I've been doing for 6 years, and it's suddenly been taken away from me just like that, and I feel rather lost. The future right now is all very uncertain. It's true I did have a two month holiday from it last year, but I never had the feeling it would be permanent. This time it feels a lot more real.

Everyone I know that knows the situation would say it's for my own good. I suppose that is true. There won't be the stress of coming home late and then having to sit down and do the support mail. There won't be any need to care about the systems or the customers after hours when noone else does. But the problem is, I do care. I'm quite convinced I care more about the place than any of the people that actually work there. Which is totally illogical in itself since I have no share in the company.

I always wondered that if I didn't have cia to keep my mind occupied at night whether I'd think about uni work instead. We'll find out I guess. Probably not though. cia was a hobby, different to real work.

So who knows what my future there will be. Vic hinted last night that maybe we could think of something for me to do. I truly hope so.

Whatever

Still really need to learn to think "whatever"

Was gonna have another rant about one of the guys at work, but I'm tired and I think I'm gonna just crash.

But it's just work. Really. I have to think big picture. It's just work. I don't have to stress about it *after* work, so why should I stress about it *at* work.

And on the roads also. Just "whatever" when people are stoopid.

4 days to go!

Order of the Phoenix

..til the next Harry Potter book goes on sale. I haven't decided if I'll buy it yet or not. I'm dying to read the story, but I was wanting to wait til the 7th book comes out so I can get the whole set together.

Plus it'll be a Saturday which would mean confronting shopping centres which is never a good thing on a weekend at the best of times. I wonder how popular it will be on its first day. I suspect that this one will sell even quicker than previous ones because of the two movies that have been released since the last book was released, and I'm sure more people have taken up an interest in the books since (I know I did).

Went rollerblading today. Went for forty minutes straight. It felt so slooow though - we used to hoon around the park in like 15 min flat, but it took 40 min to do two laps :( At least I didn't get passed by any other rollerbladers, not that there were too many around, but I did pass a couple of others, so that was good :) Have decided I need to get fit, and this is the only exercise I've ever been able to bring myself to do. Plus I was inspired after ice skating the other night to get back into practice :)

I wish I had *normal* parents. Instead I have these strange people that apparently I'm related to.

I was meant to meet them for dinner tonight at a local club to celebrate my mother's birthday tomorrow. We were meant to meet at 6. So I turn up at three minutes past six, and wait. And wait. And wait. Half past six comes round and I get this phone call from a mystery mobile. It's my mother. They've been at the club waiting since quarter past five. So she comes down and I sign into the club. But as it turns out, they've not only been there for well over an hour, but they've also started their meal. This was too much for me. Who in their right mind starts a meal at a restaurant without all the guests, when they know they're coming? And then, rather than coming with me to order my meal, she just says "go get your meal, we're on table 42". OK well this was the last straw. I may have been talked into staying until then, but as it was, I felt like I'd been abandoned, and I certainly didn't want to share a meal with these people, I was too upset.

See, now any *normal* person would have called to let me know they'd arrived early at the club (I wasn't far away, I could have been there shortly afterwards). Any *normal* person would have come to meet me at the agreed time in the only place we've ever met before. Any *normal* person would have waited for their guests to arrive before going and ordering their meal.

I am so pissed off >:( Two hours of my life wasted. What a suck way to end the weekend. And a pity because generally the rest of it was great. Even saw me little brother's new house down the 'Gong.

Ice Skating

Ice Skating

Tonight a bunch of people from my boss's old work went ice skating at Fox Studios and I tagged along. I didn't even know they had an ice rink there until last week. Apparently it's been there for a couple of years during the winter, but I hadn't even heard of it. Anyway so a bunch of us went along, and I had an awesome time. I haven't been ice skating in *years*, so it took me a little while to get back into it. Fortunately I've done a lot of rollerblading in recent years (ok not so recent), so it didn't take too long to come back to me.

After skating a bunch of us went to Cafe Ciao in the Spot for dinner, which was all very pleasant. Overall I had a thoroughly fantastic night. This is precisely how Friday nights should be. None of this sitting at home alone stuff that I normally do. Friday nights should be a go-out-with-friends thing. Not to mention all the endorphins that get released with exercise, so I'm in a great mood at the moment :) Almost can't bring myself to plod through the rather depressing support mail that's there. Ah screw it, I think I'll just do it tomorrow!

night! :)

1. Do you prefer silence or do you like background sound (music, TV, etc)?
I like background music. Music is better than tv - tv is too distracting
2. Bathe/shower in morning or evening?
Morning - to wake up! Evening to wash hair
3. Sleeping in complete darkness, or with a nightlight on?
A bit of light from a window is good
4. Lay out clothes the night before, or just grab what's closest in the morning?
Grab what's in the closet
5. Hang up/fold clothes neatly, or just toss them wherever?
Hang em up
6. Work out at a gym, or at home on your own (or do you not bother with exercise)?
Exercise? What's that?
7. Talk on the phone, or via IM/e-mail?
ICQ or email
8. Are you usually on time, or late?
On time. I hate being late. I hate making people wait for me (I also hate having to wait for late people)
9. Spendthrift or frugal?
Frugal
10. Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: You work with someone who is not in the habit of bathing regularly. The smell seems to be getting worse and worse! Would you: 1. try to do something about it, or 2. try to grin and bear it? If you said 1, what would you do?
I'd do something about it. How I approached it would depend on who it was.

Watching "The Green Mile" again. Got through most of the support mail and had my dinner cooked by 7:30 and there was nothing on TV, so put it on.
