Dave sent me a link this morning to further confirm my theory that some people have way too much time on their hands. At first my innocent mind thought it must have all been done in real lego, but during the day I wondered how it could be that good, and surely it must have been CG. But according to the press release it was actually a mixture of both. Check it out at spiteyourface - at least you get to choose the size there, I ended up downloading a 53mb file ;)

I've already put an order in to my boss - I want a better day tomorrow. After a gentle transition back to work, and a couple of big successes on Friday, today was a dismal failure. It all started outside of work, with the Greeks celebrating and causing havoc on the roads.

Got to work and sorted out the list of users to delete and disable. We do this every three months. But it seems that 95/98/macintosh users that don't actually log onto the domain when they logon, but merely log on locally then access network resources, do not have their lastLogon field set in Active Directory (or even lastLogonTimestamp). What this means is, when you check to see if an account has been used in the past three months, AD says it hasn't, yet the user will tell you otherwise. I even went and saw one to confirm it. So spent most of the rest of the day trying to find out if there's actually any way to find out whether domain accounts get used or not. As a consequence, I emailed 200 people, and a bunch of them whinged, and I'm too scared to actually disable the accounts because I'm not sure who I'll disconnect :(

Dad and I created a whole new vocabulary while we were away.. well at least a different way of pronouncing things. One of the things was bow-ats. :) Well I went and saw John's bow-at today. It's very swishy. We didn't get to take it for a cruise though because it was so windy John was worried we'd never be able to moor it again. So we just installed an aerial and I lazed about while John cleaned the carpets. He said he'll be selling tickets for New Years on the harbour, and I think I'll be in line for one :)

I mentioned yesterday that George found my blog by entering Cory Cats .. well tonight Merv asked what a blog was, and she mentioned to the whole family at dinner that she'd found it.. could be scary if anyone goes looking for it. Some of these people I haven't told about this blog, and they may get a bit miffed if they know it's been around for a year and a half and i haven't told them. Oh well, can't be helped :)

And who put the ED toll up to $4.00 ??? What the hell is that? It cost me $7 to get to and from Mosman today. And they're talking about taking away the cash lanes altogether and just having e-tag, which is a pain considering how rarely I would use it. Might have to detour through the city next time I head out that way to avoid the $4 toll.

Much fizzling tonight, time for sleepie.

FQ TOPIC: Vent

FQ1: What's the one thing above all others that drives you insane... that one dreaded event that causes you to completely lose your composure and want to kick, scream, and beat something with a big stick?
There's a few places on my drive to work that people are constantly trying to push in or just behave stupidly. It completely pisses me off and I can't get over it.

FQ2: Is that all? Surely there is something else that will cause you to freak out! Here's your chance to vent and list a few other things that make you go nuts...
Where do I begin? heh. How about, my father's childishness, rude people, stoopid people, people that push in, lotus notes, I'm sure I could think of more if I sat down..

FQ3: When you've been driven crazy by something or someone... and are barely containing your frustration... is there anything you can do to calm down, dispell the rage, and be happy again?
Usually it's just time. Or escaping somehow, like watching a dvd.

FQ DARE: Admit it, you're not perfect... what is something you do that drives other people crazy?
Easily my moodiness.

Audit

I've been telling my boss for ages that we have too many servers - he likes breeding them - he puts them in a rack together and they multiply. Well when the auditors found out they kinda freaked out and now they're interviewing us senior people about it. *sigh*

27 Questions

As seen on Blogograhy and Lost Pilgrim:

1. Do you try to look hot when you go to the grocery store just in case someone recognizes you from your blog?
I wear the same thing to work as I wear out and on the weekends. It takes a very special occasion for me to get out of jeans and a tshirt.
2. Are the photos you post Photoshopped or otherwise altered?
They're just cropped/resized.
3. Do you like it when creeps or dorks email you?
Happens rarely. Usually they're just lusers looking for stuff on kazaa
4. Do you lie in your blog?
No.. I don't think so anyway..
5. Are you passive-aggressive in your blog?
Probably :)
6. Do you ever threaten to quit writing so people will tell you not to stop?
Why on earth would I do that? I started writing it thinking that noone would ever read it, it would just be something for me. When people actually started reading it it was a bonus!

Yep

If I blogged full time, I'd have nothing to write about now, would I, because I'd be typing about nothing the whole time?

16. Does your family read your blog?
Me little brother does. Noone else does (I hope). The parents don't know about it, no thanks to the little brother who keeps mentioning it in front of them >:( and it'd better if they never do, since I probably bitch about them more than anyone else.. :)
17. How old is your blog?
Almost a year and half

26. Are you lonely?
All too often
27. Why bother?
Because Vic said I should and I've been doing it ever since :)

Was feeling thoroughly depressed last night and this morning over Mr Italian twat, until I was getting ready for work and looking over Diane Taurins' Jason Isaacs page, and was immensly cheered up. Go figure. Didn't dare check my webmail though in case nasty person wrote back and deflated me again. Checked when he got home and he hadn't after all. So now a night dedicated to cleaning up the flat and organising stuff for having people over tomorrow night.

I don't understand how people can do this to their phones. How do they do it? They must pick up the phone in one hand, turn it around to put it on their ear, then put it back, after it's been turned 360 degrees. I pick up the phone with my left hand (so I can still use the mouse), then put it back down again without twisting.

As such, this is not my phone, but Sami's. It also happens to be the 500th photo (and movie) taken on my new camera (500 photos in a week, am I insane??? - although a lot of those were test photos getting used to the camera)

Going to go from about number three on the Theme Thursday list last week to about a hundred this week.. oops :)

P23S5

Was reading this on Richard's blog, and was given further evidence that people have way too much time on their hands.

This week's meme, write down the 5th sentence of the 23rd page of the nearest book to you.
Well I'm arbitrarily picking page number 23, as opposed to the 23rd page, and the 5th complete sentence.

The very idea of going to them when they awoke, and telling them about his scar hurting him, and about his worries about Voldemort, was laughable.

10 points for guessing which book it's from (the number that is, the series is all too obvious :) )

The Friday Five seems to be on permanent holiday. I think they've had about one new one in the past six weeks. Surely it can't be that hard to post five questions, especially when people send them to you!

I got my Jason fix at lunch in the oddest of places today - in the children's section of a book store. They had a photo story book of Peter Pan. I was sorely tempted to buy it, it was only $10, but most of the photos are on the internet anyway. Maybe next week.

Dropped into the new Bunnings up the road this arvo with Luc. We spent the better part of an hour wandering around the place. It's massive! About four times the size of the old one. They even had fairy floss (I haven't had fresh fairy floss in years!), clowns, musicians, face painting, and fireworks (although I only heard those from the comfort of my home, I didn't stick around to watch them). Luc left with a trolley full of stuff, I left covered in sugar :)

Finally decided, after malicious code was released for MS04-011, that I shouldn't wait til tomorrow to patch the last remaining NT4 server. So I'm sitting here waiting for people to stop working, and they *won't*. It's Friday night people! Go home!! In the end I just waited until there was a minimum of five minutes idle time all round, and rebooted anyway.

And in other news. The Moreton Bay Fig tree has had its execution date set. Next Thursday. Going to take the opportunity this weekend to finish photographing it, and collecting as many seeds as possible in the hopes of growing some. Although not quite sure what I'll do with them if they grow.. what does one do with Moreton Bay Fig tree seedlings?
