Blah

Putter, unzip, stress, RAGE, demolition, blah, ow, free lunch, blah, stress, Nerds!, blah, copy, fraggle, stress, crap, RAGE, misery.

Yup, that pretty much sums up my day.
Got the house a bit tidier.  Cleaned the kitchen only to mess it up again (although not too badly) for dinner.  Watched some House.  Read hundreds of news feeds, but still have thousands to go.  Dusted and vacuumed.  Have no idea what is attracting the meeces.

Not much else to report.  Boring day really.

Hump day

More blahness at work.

Mazaika experiments last night not so great.  More about that in another post one day..

Did a bunch of Japan research tonight.

Decided the filter in the pool probably needs a good backwash.

I'm sure there was more exciting things I wanted to say...

The Dark Knight

So we finally went and saw The Dark Knight last night.

But first we went to get some snacks/drinks while waiting for the movie to start.  We toddled off to My Cafe Espresso in Garema Place.  Apart from the "Tall Italians" that the boys all got and raved about how good they were, the rest of it was pretty crap.  We got two servings of nachos, but there were only like half a dozen corn chips to eat with.  So I asked for either some more corn chips, or some forks (either one).  And some serviettes.  Well they did eventually bring out some more corn chips so that was ok, but no serviettes.  So we all had to lick our fingers or use the drink-soaked serviettes that came under the drinks (when they finally arrived - we'd pretty much finished eating by the time our drinks arrived).  So a couple of thumbs down from me.

The Dark Knight Anyway.

So yeah we finally got to see The Dark Knight.  It was pretty good, as indicated by all the hype and the IMDB ranking.  Great mix of action and drama.  Heath Ledger (and indeed everyone else) did a great job.  I knew it was long, but felt like I couldn't tear my eyes away to check my watch heh.  Although I did feel quite tense the whole way through it, to the point of feeling a little blah as we went home.  Weird.  Stu liked it, but the others not so much.

Feeling blah tonight.  Could be being back at work.  Could be getting nothing done tonight, not even any planning.  Could be just tired.

I did however Google Earth a bunch of my flight over Australia Day 1 photos.. I guess that's something...

Massacre

Some days I swear I wish I could shoot people.

Like the woman on the bus who refused to move over to her side of the seat, forcing me out into the corridor where I'm bashed into with school kids' backpacks.

Or the woman who cut across diagonally in front of me with a pram and then just stopped, wedging me against the side of the walkway.

Or the idiots at the sushi train that dumped their lids back on the train, but jammed them in there so stupidly that they caused a train-wreck when it went around the next bend.

That was just today.

Then there's the lazy selfish people that couldn't be arsed putting fresh food they've picked up back where they got it from when they've changed their minds about it.  So seeing meat and cheese and fresh fruit just dumped amongst drygoods shelves to get warm and rotten.  Such people make me furious.  And not just once either, three times in recent weeks.

blah.

Productive day

Had a relatively productive day today.  Well at least I got the first draft of my wedding invitations done.  We also went shopping.  And I cooked a spectacular lamb roast.

Still stressing about how much I have to do tho.  And figure out a guest list.  Blah.

So after brekky we headed down to Humpty Mick's for a coffee and to try and decide what to do today. Which was somewhere between wanting to *do* something and wanting to *sit*. Which proved to be frustrating for both of us. We ended up doing more sitting than doing.

The view we had at Humpty Mick's - not bad hey? :)

Eventually we headed off to the island museum which was very interesting.

Ansett Flying Boat

They had an internet kiosk there for $2 for twenty minutes which wasn't too bad, but it was very slow, especially for cia mail. We had lunch at the Coral Cafe.

Came back here and did some more nothing. Well Stu did. I went down to Ned's beach to photograph the Sooty Terns which were nesting. Well nesting is exaggerating it a bit. They just lay their eggs on the ground. And chirp agitatedly at you when you come near. Very cool. Took an awful lot of photos of them.

Sooty Tern on an egg

So close I could see myself reflected in its eye!

Next we wandered down to the lagoon and dodged some raindrops to go out snorkelling. Completely spectacular. The coral was a little dull in the bit of the lagoon we went to, but we saw plenty of amazing fish.
We stayed out for nearly two hours and only came in when my fingers started to go numb from the cold. I'd like to go out on one of the cruises that go out to the outer reef where the coral is more spectacular.

Then had another go at getting my card-reading cd burner working. It's an Apacer Steno, and is a great idea in principle - a stand-alone cd burner with inbuilt 6-in-1 card reader. Except that it doesn't read two out of the three brands of memory cards I have. Not particularly useful. Maybe that was why it was returned to Ted's and why I ended up with it second-hand. blah. stoopid thing.

So off to dinner - this time at the bowling club for their fish night. We sat with Sue and Keith, who we kept seeing - first on the plane, then outside Thompson's Store, then at dinner last night. So that was quite pleasant.

And so ends another day .. must be about bed time :)

Blah

Why won't the parents accept "I don't know" as an answer to "what are you doing for your wedding?" They don't stop at "what are you doing?". When they don't get an answer to that it's "do you have *any idea* what you're doing?" Flipping heck. Really stressing me out :(

That and my mail server spacked again tonight and threatened not to reboot, and that it's *always* hot in here even when the rest of the unit is pleasantly cool after a cool change blew through, and that getting home late means a late night after all the other housekeeping nonsense is done, and I'm one tired/stressed girl :(
