Did actually leave the house though. Yesterday to go to Fortune Box for a shared lunch, then do our food shopping. And today to Bunnings to pick up some bits and pieces.
Otherwise, we've been pretty boring.

Friday night saw us heading to North Cooma (aka as far south in Canberra as you can go) to have dinner at Andrew and Jen's. Richard and Tracey came too so it was quite the party.
And how cool is this - Andrew's building a 747 flight simulator, complete with physical controls and switches and computerised flight systems that plug into Microsoft Flight Simulater. Extremelly cool!

And there was quite the feast of food, including a rather tasty dish of chicken, prawns and bacon .. sounds strange but it was very nice :)

After dinner we played p0ker until Tracey's chips ran out (and they had to get kids home to bed). Then we played Cranium which is a mashup of Pictionary, Charades, Trivial Pursuit and Rapidough. The game play was a bit confusing and odd, but that might have been because we just hadn't read the instructions thoroughly. It was fun anyway.
Saturday night we went to Josh and Ally's for a lovely evening of chatting and a very yummy middle eastern fish dish.

So for our anniversary we both got the day off work, and decided to go for a drive out to Captains Flat. Cute little town, although really not much there. The pub didn't open til dinner time on a Friday - only open for lunch on weekends. So we had some "lunch" at The Outsider cafe. There was only SOS mobile reception there, presumably only Telstra has a tower there. We went up and look at the old entrance to the mine. But sadly we didn't go out to the radar, which was half the reason I wanted to go. Stu says "next time".

Isn't he a cutie?

I think we ate all day on our anniversary!
Starting with oven-baked bacon, and eggs, for breakfast

For lunch, well we happened to be in Captains Flat, and the only thing open was a little cafe - The Outsider. So we thought we'd just have a slice of cake each to share for a snack.
Ha!
The slices were huge, and came topped with cream and chocolate and berries. So instead of a snack, this was our lunch!

For dinner we went to Pulp Kitchen. We'd been there some years back (holy crap, was it six years ago?!?), and again it was a great experience. So much yummy food!
Oysters kilpatrick ($3 each)
Oysters with Gin&Tonic Granita ($3 each)
Seared duck magret, house made duck sausage, fried duck egg, sorrel salsa verde ($35). I only got to try a bit of Stu's duck, but it was great.
I had roast sirloin steak, braised brisket, butternut pumpkin, garlic and herb puree ($33). Those little green balls are actually a beef ball wrapped in a dough and baked. Odd, but delicious. Steak was pretty awesome too.
Salad of green peas, bacon, croutons and herbs ($9). Excellent salad.
Selection of Australian and European farm house cheeses ($19). This rivalled the fantastic cheese platter we had in Scotland.
Saturday was still feeling a bit blah, but by the afternoon was starting to feel better. Did our food shopping and in the evening we went over to Mishi's for a games night. As usual most of the night was chatting over food, but we did end up going and playing some Fluxx and Monty Python Fluxx. Damien won several games, and Geoffrey and Liam won a game each as well.
Today was feeling more back to normal (still a lot of phlegm) and was actually up to doing some housework. But otherwise it was a pretty nothing day.
And so that's the end of that..
Did a 24 hour trip to the club last night. Hung out at the caravan for a bit before going up and having drinks and dinner with some of the others. We brought all our own food, but as per usual Andrew cooked entirely too much, so we had some of his lemon chicken (which was awesome) and sweet and sour pork.
Slept ok, but the mattress tilts towards Stu which makes things a little uncomfortable (I have enough trouble being comfortable lying down at the best of times).
Had leftovers for breakfast and did my cross stitch while Stu woke up. Vaccuumed the club house (kids+crackers and bark off logs for the fire make quite a mess - who knew?), then came home for lunch.
And is this not the coolest thing *ever*? :)

The weekend started with drinks at La De Da. And chorizo.. yum!

Saturday morning we went to Black Pepper for breakfast.
Saw these little guys as we were walking back to the car.

Went and did our food shopping, them came home.
Pretty quiet afternoon. I was in a bit of a strange mood which didn't help.
Went out for dinner - ended up at Little Siam in Gungahlin. Turned out to be quite a nice little restaurant. We got a chicken red curry and a pork larb, which were just on the upper end of my spiciness tolerance, but pretty good. All the onion made the sweetie suffer afterwards though :( Very reasonably priced. In fact our two dishes and rice were only ~$30 - cheaper than breakfast!

Afterwards we went over to Potty's and we all just hung out and chatted.
Today was another quiet day. Probably wouldn't have left the house, but the sweetie wanted to take his car out (it had a flat battery the other morning, don't know why). So we went went for a tour of the inner north of Canberra, then up Mount Ainslie.

Tonight I cooked a roast pork. It was only a small roast, so decided not to do the extended high heat at the beginning. So the meat came out beautifully, as did the veggies, but the crackling wasn't the best.
Woke up at stoopid o'clock this morning. Will be nice to wake up with the light again for the next little while...
Yesterday we had a pretty quiet morning. But it was such a lovely day we decided to go out to the club and try out our new caravan. So went out and enjoyed the sunshine, and had drinks and dinner with some of the other people there, then played some cards then went to bed. Turns out sleeping in a caravan is a lot more comfortable than sleeping in a tent! Who knew? We also managed to lock ourselves out of it within ten minutes of arriving. Thank goodness John was there with a spare key!

This morning after quite a long lie-in (it was freezing!) we got ready then helped out with some hazard reduction, as well as having some sausages for lunch.

Came home and called the parents, only to hear the bad news that the prognosis is not very good for Dad. So that made me pretty sad.
Did our food shopping then came home and found my betta, that I've only had for six weeks, had died. More sadness.
Then spent *ages* making up some lasagnas, only to have the sweetie eat a good chunk of my leftovers (mine had white sauce and lactose containing cheese). Blah.
Then lost it cause the house was a pigsty.
It's only 9:30pm, but it feels a lot later. Not sure how I'm going to be able to stay up..
Had a quiet Saturday morning.
In the afternoon we headed out to the club.
And we might have accidentally bought this.

Had a brief swim in the pool - it was a little too chilly to stay in long - before heading in for happy hour and dinner.
Graham and Anne cooked a delicious creamy pumpkin soup and the most amazing chicken and chirizo dish - it was fantastic!

Afterwards we had a music and movies trivia night. Sadly I was separated from the sweetie (he's the brains in the family). But as it was it didn't turn out too badly - our table lost, so we walked away with vodka cruisers anyway :) And the sweetie's table came third, so he ended up with more vodka cruisers and a bottle of wine! Win!
A good fun night, and next time we don't have to drive home afterwards!
On Sunday the sweetie and I went and visited Annie, then had lunch at Fortune Box (sadly they don't do the smaller fortune boxes anymore, but it turned out ok because we just shared a large and didn't overeat), then did our food shopping.

In the late afternoon Nat and Andrew came over and we went and found a geocache! My first, Stu's second, Nat and Andrew's eleventy billionth.

Then we played a game of Buzz (I won) and had a yummy lamb roast for dinner.
After dinner we briefly debated what to do before having a jigsaw race! During the week I'd bought two identical 500 piece jigsaws for $1 each at Kmart (best value ever!!) so Nat wanted to do them. Even though it was already 7:30pm. And Andrew would have nothing to do. But someone came up with the idea of him winning all our mirror cups on Mario Kart, so it was decided.
I finished in one hour and fifty eight minutes... Nat didn't...

But I think she had fun anyway .. hopefully... :)
