I still don't have pictures for this entry.  If anyone cares, come back in a few days.

The first half of the long weekend was great.

Friday night we went over to Nat and Andrew's and met Suki.  Soooo cute!  Had pizza for dinner, then played some Wii music (some bits of it were fun, others were tedious), Singstar, Wiiracas and Mario Kart.

Saturday we went to Belco markets for breakfast and to look at fish shops.  Got back and got some housework done then spent a good chunk of the afternoon doing fish stuff.  Stu did a big tidy of the fish stuff in the garage and I cleaned out the danio tank and took the five danios back upstairs.

Sunday was doing more housey stuff when I started having an immune reaction.  So went and lay down around lunch time for a couple of hours.  The rest of the afternoon went in slow motion.  Did do a little tidying of my hobby room, so at least the day wasn't a complete waste :/

Today was just a mopey blah sort of day.  Did a jigsaw.  Ripped some of my cds.  Did the food shopping cause we had to.  That was about it really.

I did freecycle a couple of inkjet printers which was good.  Although a bit sad giving away a printer I spent $300 on back in the day.  Nowadays it's practically cheaper to buy a new printer than it is to buy new ink.  So stoopid.

Bucky!!

So my ThinkGeek package arrived today.

*blink*

Yes it got here in three and a half days.  So I would have been happier if I'd paid half the postage and had it take twice as long to get here.  hrmmm.

But anyways.

So people got lots of cool stuff.  The Khet game looked like it'd be fun, although a lot smaller than Laserwar.  And the "black light" desk lamp (that was actually just blue I think) looked friggen spectacular in a dark room!

But my toy was the Bucky Balls.  Actually ball-bearing sized magnets that are *extremelly* cool.  I'd seen the video and a guy at work had a set, so I had to get myself some :)

http://shop.lego.com/HolidayShop/festivefun.aspx - inspired me to dig out some Lego on the weekend

Day went very quickly today.  Not sure why.  Maybe cause was "playing" with some more fun stuff rather than having to deal with too much crap.

Went for a walk with the sweetie tonight and did some gardening and trivia night research.  So pretty successful day really.

Anne with an E

After finishing the books a few months ago, and since Anne of Green Gables was on last night, I thought I ought to watch it.  (edit: it was actually over a year ago I finished the books and nearly two years ago since I finished the first one - scary!)

And I was actually considering buying the movie on dvd.  I'm kinda glad I didn't.  I probably haven't seen the movie in fifteen years.  And it was almost painful to watch.  The dialogue was so *forced* !  The book, weak was it was, was actually quite a bit better than I remember the movie being.

The funniest thing was, on the tv edition they aired last night, the completely cut out the Lady of Shalott scene on the river!!  In fact they seemed to have cut out a lot of stuff.. especially with her friends in school - they don't even get a mention..! I can't really remember, but the movie last night did seem to skip through the three years at school incredibly quickly.  And then there's the mystery friend in Queens who I don't think even gets a name in the movie.  All very silly really.

Anyways.  At least I got it out of my system!
Edit again: yes they chopped out *heaps* from the tv airing last night - scene after scene of their school stuff was all taken out.  Dumb!!  Channel 7/Prime FAIL!!
Had the usual anime crowd over tonight.

First up we watched this odd episode of a show Stu has been watching.  No idea what it's called :)

Then pizzas arrived and we watched this way cool dvd of our Japan photos that Stu put together with all these funky transitions and stuff.

Then a couple of episodes of Speed Grapher, and a couple of Abenobashi.

Finally some Mario Karting, which I actually won two rounds of! Pretty freaky!

Last night a couple of Chris' and families and Neil and I went over to Windy's for a fondue night.  It was a lot of fun but I ate and drank entirely too much!  Mainly ate too much - was still feeling bloated at 4am .. whoops :)

After we were completely stuffed silly a few of us played Singstar, which was also a lot of fun, but it meant rather a late night.  Stu bailed and went to bed, so had to get a lift home - thanks Chris!

Had a super fun night at Nat and Andrew's.  Stu helped Nat cook a stir fry, then we played Pictionary and then attempted to play Zombietown.  But it took us ages to figure out what we were meant to do and suddenly it was 11pm and the Stubie really needed to go to bed.  So didn't get to actually fight any zombies.. oh well.. :)
Had a fairly productive day today.  For a while I was setting a timer and doing 15 minutes of computer stuff then 15 minutes of non computer stuff.  Non computer stuff was mostly tidying tho heh.

Spent a good chunk of my afternoon locating my flight photos on Google Earth.  Got freaked out when I saw the ocean was *moving* !!

Then Stu went and got Nat and also James came over and I did a lamb roast - yumm!  And so doing christened our new dining table :)  Then we wiied and generally had quite a lot of fun.

This moonrise was actually yesterday

It's good to have the sweetie back home.  Altho I did enjoy being able to make the bed in one second flat - instead of the usual several minutes it takes me to straighten out the bedding that Stu puts all over the place when he sleeps ;)

Friday stuff

  • sliced my fingers open cooking dinner
  • went on strike
  • watched Innerspace, was fun
  • captchas on my blog still broken.
  • ftp doesn't work very well in windows 7.  CuteFTP, windows ftp, both have all sorts of connection problems, either in passive mode or not
Had rather a late start on Saturday.  We headed out around 12pm to do our shopping, but of course being Anzac Day, shops weren't open til 1pm.. not even Coles (which I thought might have opened round 12).  So had to waste a bit of time before doing our shopping.  Stocked up on supplies, came home, got ready, and eventually headed out the door round 3:50pm.

Had a nice easy drive down to the coast, arriving just after 6pm.  Whereupon it was decided it was beer o'clock.  We cooked a store-bought quiche for dinner (I mustn't have been with real men ;) ).  Eventually got in the spa and stayed there for the next five or so hours.  Ooops.  :)  DC mostly kept up with me drinking-wise.  Not quite, but I was still impressed :)

Quiche (3.6 servings per package??? who divides quiches up like that??)

Bottlecaps Mine, DC's and Stu's efforts (one Quadruppel beer is the same alcohol content as two heinekens)

Sunday was a bit of a sleepin (as you do).  Spent a good chunk of the day doing a jigsaw of Neil's.  And later played some Super Mario Galaxy.  It was ok, but was really only one player so not as much fun (oh, played a bit of Lego Star Wars too, but really don't *get* it).

Malua Bay

Dinner was a lamb roast with lots of veggies, and our wedding cake for dessert.  And a Mount Majura Pinot Gris, which was very fruity.  Watched Mythbusters and Iron Chef and Rockwiz and then fell asleep when Dave put on Keating the Musical.  So abanoned that and got in the spa.  Where we turned off the lights and sat and just watched all the stars.  Was extraordinarily pretty.  Stu and Dave saw the same shooting star, but I missed out :(  Was determined to stay there til I saw one, but in the end Dave wanted Ben to get some sleep, so I got booted :)

Today we played some Mario Kart, went for a walk then cleaned up, and left for home.  Dumped our stuff then headed straight back out again, this time to Ding's for a very civilised dinner.  He'd been cooking up a storm all afternoon - he did a pretty amazing paella with mussells and calamari and prawns and crab and chicken and saffron.  Jo also did a highly nomorific salad.  Definitely ate far too much :)  And had some Mount Majura Pinot Noir.  And then there was dessert.  !!  Definitely need to have more dinner parties.  Need to get a dining table...

Anyways.  So that was the weekend.  Think I need a weekend to recover from my weekend...
