Day 4 - Friday 17 November - San Francisco to New York
We had to get up at 5:00am this morning :(
ANATOMY number plate I saw on a car in San Francisco
We were running late getting away from the hotel. We still had the car and drove ourselves. But we missed an exit on the freeway, but fortunately were able to turn around without too much trouble. Then we got confused at the airport. We got to the airport terminal at 6:45, and our plane was due to leave at 7:05 and there were super long queues at checkin and security.. arrrggghhh!! Talk about getting stressed out. We would have missed our plane, but fortunately the flight was cancelled so we didn't miss it. *sigh* We ended up on a 7:55am plane to Newark.
We had a pretty good view of San Francisco as we were flying out.
End of the Bay Bridge, looking towards Berkeley

There was plenty of snow on the Rocky Mountains. The line between the mountains and the great plains was very distinct. They just stopped.

Ephraim, Utah
In fact there was snow over quite a bit of the country. In the middle of the country it's super flat *forever* with the whole country split into square mile blocks of land that look like a patchwork.
Central United States
The middle of the USA is the most boring place - dead flat and nothing but farmland as far at the eye can see
Omaha, Nebraska
Freeway interchange of 78 and 287 near Pluckemin New Jersey
Dig those crazy freeways
Newark city, near New York City
Our flight into JFK airport was cancelled so we ended up at Newark in New Jersey instead
At Newark we got ourselves onto a shuttle which took us into the city. It took about an hour and a half! We got to the hotel but it's a total dump of a place. Our room only has one bed, and no bathroom. hrmm. We couldn't get another room though.
We headed out to find some dinner. We were just walking along and Pete stopped to ask some policeman where the nearest Subway restaurant was, but we actually happened to be almost next to one. So our first meal in New York was Subway :)
