To clarify

People may think they know why I do or say things. People may read things I say and come to conclusions about me. People may think they know how I've voted based on things I've said.

Well to those people, you are quite wrong. You have no clue how I vote, and could not possibly even *guess*. Just because I can see the other side of an argument doesn't mean I agree with that side as a whole. Even though I personally may actually be better off under one form of goverment or another, doesn't mean I would prefer to see them win.

So whatever conclusions people may have come to about me have no basis in reality.

That is all.

Gosh, it's been a while since I've blogged (a whole four days heh).

Let's see. Friday night the boy arrived in Sydney which was lovely - three weekends in a row - woot!

Friday was also me mum's birthday, so Saturday was her birthday party. Dave, Stu and I were the only people there under the age of about 55, so that was a little .. er.. heh :) But I was assigned task of official photographer, so ran round taking photos of stuff. Mum got a caterer in at Yvonne's suggestion, and that worked really well. The caterer was really nice too, even giving Dave and me offcuts of the end bits of the roasts and the bones to pick at :):) Coolfullness :) Mum did this quiz thing where she wrote a whole stack of questions and everyone had to try and answer them. I think I probably got more right than anyone, but I wasn't scoring cause I really didn't care heh. The prize was a bag of jaffas that went straight into a bowl and got shared around :)

After the party we went shopping and got Stu a new battery for his phone and a coffee and some bits and pieces from Big W, and went and looked at the fish shop at all the cichlids. Then we came home and crashed and ordered pizza - bacon and cheese burst crust - evil!! :) Definitely ate too much though, and ached the rest of the night.. oops...

Today was a complete morning off. Slept in, and just pottered around the house. I patched servers while Stu read his css book. Had two computers setup in the study so we can work on one each which was cool. Then I did some more fish stuff - moved Fred and George into the study, so now I have all my fish in here.

Will probably be going to play a game of Star Wars Trivial Pursuit later.....

Automeme

From Kevin, who apparently made it up himself :)

  1. Driver's seat or passenger seat?
mm, probably driver's seat, although also happy to navigate or just watch the scenery go by
  2. What was the first car you owned (could have been purchased by someone else)?
A 1984 ford laser. It was kidnapped and murdered four years after I got it
  3. What is the first car you paid for yourself?
Yep. With a bank cheque. The teller said not to spend it all at once heh
  4. How many cars are currently housed in your place of residence? How many are still operable?
Just the one. Well actually there's probably closer to 30, but they belong to other people :)
  5. If money were not a factor, what kind of car would you own?
Maybe a WRX (late nineties models).. always wanted one of those..
  6. If a police investigation was not a factor, what kind of car would you destroy any time you see it? Why?
Any 4WD that has never been off bitumen in its life. They're big and ugly and obstruct my view of the road and waste massive amounts of petrol.
  7. Does driving in big city traffic fill your veins with adrenaline or your pants with something a bit worse?
    er, neither really. heh
  8. What is your biggest pet peeve regarding driving and/or your fellow drivers?
Drivers that push in. Either from racing up the inside lane that's about to end and then pushing in, or turning right from the left lane when there's no arrows so they can get through the lights before everyone else turning right from the right lane.
  9. What's the most expensive traffic ticket you've ever received (could be monetary or jailtime)?
Never gotten one. Although I'm sure I would have been thrown into jail if I'd been caught at my naughtiest heh
  10. What is the name you've given to your current vehicle (be honest, everyone names their car)?
I don't really have a name. The first one Gail called the naf-mobile and that kinda stuck. This one is sexy-exy, or exe-file or just little car.

The Da Vinci Code

So a bunch of us went and saw The Da Vinci Code last night. For free. Courtesy of IBM. :)

We had canapes and drinks provided beforehand (including constant topups of beer and wine, which annoyed me no end - free alcohol and I couldn't drink because I was driving hehe), amused ourselves with people-fluid-dynamics of the caterers and people wanting to be fed, and reminisced about the olden days of catching buses - before people queued!

The movie itself was ok. I held very low expectations of it, having heard it hadn't gotten great reviews. Which is always the best way to go see a movie - no expectations, then you won't be disappointed :)

What did annoy me (possible spoilers here) is the whole idea of two thousand years of genealogy finishing in one single person. Now I've never studied genealogies, but usually if you start with one person, their family tree grows. Outwards. Not down a single line. Surely? It seems to be a convenient literary escape (not as much of a story if there's actually millions of descendants of Christ). And not the first time I've seen it done. Voldemort the only remaining descendant of Slytherin? Garion the only remaining descendant of that Rivan King? At least in that one it was explained - "oh it was easy to keep track of, because most families only had one child". hrmmmmm :) It's all a bit silly really :)

St George

St George sent me a letter today saying they were changing their fees. One of their changes is to increase the fee-free threshold from $1000 to $3000. Well that's just ridiculous. I'm not going to waste $3000 that could be in my mortgage ($1000 was bad enough!!). And I don't believe in paying bank fees. So I think I will be closing the account. I only keep it as a backup, somewhere for people to put money from ebay, another emergency credit card. But it's not worth it for $6 or whatever it is a month.

By Jupiter

Jupiter is close to the moon tonight. Not close enough to be worth taking photos though :)

It's Friday!!

Had a bit of a slow day at work.

Tried to record my ageing Fantasia 2000 video to dvd tonight but it wouldn't let me, claiming it was copy protected. Fraggle. So now I'll have to pay for all my Disney videos *twice*. I wish they'd provide an "upgrade" licence so people like me can upgrade to dvd from video without paying full price twice.

Missing Stu like crazy.

Lots of videos to catch up on.

Knees are warm again tonight.

Oh and I never did mention that Kirk lent me Pirates of the Caribbean after noticing the other day that I'd never seen it. Which is cool. Cause he's the only person I knew in real life first, outside my family, that reads this thing regularly and he not only read the entry but did something about it. It's kinda funny in a strange sort of way :) Now all I need to do is find the time to watch it :)

1. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?

17. Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
I don't have it where she actually was, but according to my notes she had brown hair, enjoyed tennis, liked jewellry and had a convertible. Sad that I'm so obsessive I not only made these notes, but still have them thirteen and a bit years later .. :)

18. What's your favorite animal and why?
Not really sure I have a favourite. I like lots of birds.

19. Do you like popcorn from those big tins?
er...

20. Have you ever thought about killing yourself?
Yes

Yep

The Silence of the Lambs

Probably anything that involves being squished beyond recognition .. hrmm

I have no life...

Well there you go .. does that mean I have a life after all...? :)

Blah

Bit of a blah day today. *stuff* just pissed me off.

Like people that *constantly* leave their chairs in the middle of the confined spaces of our office, so that I have to walk around them or push them out of the way *every single freaking time*. J's high and mighty solution: just push it out of the way and deal with it. Yeah good on you.

Or international phone lines that drop out so you can't hear what they're saying and you have to get them to repeat themselves constantly, with the added fun of two other people *right behind me* on their respective phones making trying to hear what's going on even more fun.

Or people that push in. I HATE people that push in. I hate selfish people. I hate people that don't give a damn about anyone else except themselves.

The new office arrangements are really stressing me out. I don't know how much longer it's going to be before I crack :/

Yay. Fun. I'm going to bed now.
