Saturday was still feeling a bit blah, but by the afternoon was starting to feel better.  Did our food shopping and in the evening we went over to Mishi's for a games night.  As usual most of the night was chatting over food, but we did end up going and playing some Fluxx and Monty Python Fluxx.  Damien won several games, and Geoffrey and Liam won a game each as well.

Today was feeling more back to normal (still a lot of phlegm) and was actually up to doing some housework.  But otherwise it was a pretty nothing day.

And so that's the end of that..

Yesterday we had a pretty quiet morning.  But it was such a lovely day we decided to go out to the club and try out our new caravan.  So went out and enjoyed the sunshine, and had drinks and dinner with some of the other people there, then played some cards then went to bed.  Turns out sleeping in a caravan is a lot more comfortable than sleeping in a tent!  Who knew?  We also managed to lock ourselves out of it within ten minutes of arriving.  Thank goodness John was there with a spare key!

This morning after quite a long lie-in (it was freezing!) we got ready then helped out with some hazard reduction, as well as having some sausages for lunch.

Came home and called the parents, only to hear the bad news that the prognosis is not very good for Dad.  So that made me pretty sad.

Did our food shopping then came home and found my betta, that I've only had for six weeks, had died.  More sadness.

Then spent *ages* making up some lasagnas, only to have the sweetie eat a good chunk of my leftovers (mine had white sauce and lactose containing cheese).  Blah.

Then lost it cause the house was a pigsty.

It's only 9:30pm, but it feels a lot later.  Not sure how I'm going to be able to stay up..

Australia Day morning we went to Black Pepper for breakfast, and then did some shopping.

In the afternoon we went out to the club with new tent in tow.  Even though there were storms forecast.  Hrmm.

So we got there and assembled the tent.  It took quite a while because we'd never done it before, and the instructions were pretty crappy.  Got a bit hot and bothered.  So had a little break in the middle to have a drink and a chat with some of the people there.

Continued on.

Made it in the end.

Our tent!

Inflated the air mattress, and filled the tent with all our crap, then went up for a swim.  And it being nearly 5pm, we declared it beer o'clock.

The swim was really nice .. until they setup the water volleyball net.  Hrmm.

Dinner was a lamb broth for entree, then another lamb stew, and haggis! and tatties and salads.  Lamb for Australia Day, haggis for Burns night.  The haggis wasn't quite as good as I remember from Scotland, but not too bad.

Desert was a cranachan made by Chris

Did I mention the storm?  It *poured*.  And continued to rain for hours.  Apparently not as bad as back in Canberra though.

So we got back down to the tent to assess the damage.  The tarp on the vestibule had been covered in water/mud/leaves, but the interior of the tent was ok.  Just the end of the mattress/sheets were a bit wet from being pressed up against the edge of the tent.  Unfortunately neither of us could get to sleep.  The air mattress is quite sensitive, so each little movement rocks the other person around.  So I think we kept each other awake.  For hours.  Plus I was stressing about my bladder.  And of course the more you worry about needing to go, the more you think you need to go, even if you don't really need to go.  Blah.  I think I got to sleep around 2am.  Woke up at 4am for at least another hour.  Then another couple of hours sleep til 7am.  Yeah four hours sleep is probably not enough.

So we got up and had leftover haggis and tatties for breakfast.  Stu fried it, so it turned out more like the haggis we'd had in Scotland.

Then back down to disassemble the tent.  After removing spiders.

I wiped the tent down with a towel and we didn't try to properly fold it up, would do that at home after properly drying it all.  Just a quick fold and put it in the back of the car, with all the rest of our crap on the back seat.

And then home.

To find the power had been out since 7:10pm the night before :(  Fortunately the seals on the fridge are pretty good, so everything was still cold to touch, and stuff in the freezer was still frozen (a bit of meltage on the ice cubes but still mostly frozen).

Rest of the weekend was pretty quiet.  We did go over to Potty's so he could build a Cornetto stand for the sweetie.  Because he's a manly man.  And has power tools. :)

Hacked

So apparently my credit card has been hacked somewhere along the line.  The bank called me last night to tell me they'd cancelled it and would be sending a new one after suspicious activity on it (apparently a 2c transaction to a random charity).  It had gone from internet banking so couldn't check for anything else on it.

Blah.  And it was relatively new too.  Although I can't remember if this was before or after my trip this year.  Could have been before.  In which case who knows... dodgy ATM overseas somewhere?  Or maybe just somewhere that I've used it online..
So got up, got ready, debated going to work, but in the end went back to bed.  Blah.

I did achieve one thing today .. actually two things... figured out how to get SNMP working on the router (this helped), and got rid of three old computers, a case, lots of expansion cards, cables, RAM, disk drives, floppy disks, hard disks and a monitor.
Friday - couple of beers at Ha Ha, then to the Labor Club with the parents who had just arrived in town.

Saturday - rainy - the parents went into town and went to the National Portrait Gallery and New and Old Parliament Houses, while we stayed indoors and I did a jigsaw.  Cooked a nice tuna pasta bake for dinner and then we watched the slideshow of our UK 2010 trip (all the photos that are now on the blog).

Sunday - nice day - the parents went to church, and then for a walk along the lake, while we stayed indoors and did not much.  Then they went home, but I was still feeling unsettled and blah.  Watched the Julian Assange story on telly.  Stu suggested a scotch after dinner, but a phone call from work left me wondering if I'd have to go in, so couldn't relax.

Monday - still feeling blah.  Did some house organising but that was about it.
Somehow ended up at 2 Yummy again this week :)  And again we put Jim in charge or ordering, and there was much tasty food.  I might update this blog entry with some photos at some point.. maybe.. ;)

Work was pretty blah, but not quite as bad as yesterday.  At least a couple of things went right today..

Two years ago today we went to Oxford (in the rain) and saw some nice stuff as well as a couple of Harry Potter locations :)
Today I quietly celebrated my birthday.  Only a handful of Daves (four of them!), the sweetie, my parents, Nat and Ric remembered :)

It was a bit of a blah day, not helped by having to go to lunch by myself (my regular lunch buddies were either sick, in meetings or had their own lunch).  So had KFC by myself, which is kind of a tradition anyway.

But I did manage to talk a few of the guys into coming to drinks after work (thanks Neil, Chris B, Simon and Dave 5 :) ) which turned out to be quite lovely :)  and they won't know unless they read this what the special occasion was for ;)

And then met the sweetie for dinner at Bella Vista, which was lovely as always!

For entree, the sweetie had "Caprese con fior de latte" - vine ripened tomatoes with fresh buffalo mozzarella in a warm short crust pastry shell with basil pesto and aged balsamic dressing
39th Birthday
And I had "Agnello affumicato" - pepper crusted smoked shoulder of lamb with sheeps fetta, fresh oregano and baby truss tomato, swirled with virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar with grissini breadsticks
39th Birthday
For mains, the sweetie had "Pesce del giorno" - oven baked barramundi steak, served with potato, baby carrots and a caper and sage butter sauce
39th Birthday
And I had an entree for main - "Cestino di pollo al pepperoncino" - chicken pieces pan-fried with bacon, mushroom and mustard seeds seasoned with sea salt, pepper and mild chili tossed with garlic rice and served in a crispy parmesan cheese basket.    I've had this before - epic nommmm!!
39th Birthday
For dessert I had "Lemon/Lime broulee" - lemon lime flavoured broulee with a scorched sugar topping served with lemon sorbet
39th Birthday
And the sweetie had "Crostata di caramello" - chewy caramel and walnut tart served with mascarpone cream
39th Birthday

All super delicious :):)

Last night I stayed up to watch the Olympics closing ceremony, then couldn't get to sleep, and also woke up super early this morning, so probably only got 4-5 hours sleep :(

Think I might go to bed very soon and try and recover!
Because we were both feeling blah, we decided on beer and pizza for dinner.  Dominos outdid themselves, more than making up for the last time we got pizza from them where there was barely any toppings at all..

And I just finished the jigsaw - of the Pinnacles in Western Australia

Yeah so it's been a week since I blogged.  Sue me.

Work.  Yeah, busy.  What else is new.

Tuesday the sweetie and I had a flex day off together which was pretty awesome.  My plan for half the day was to pull out the old amplifier and replace it with the new one we bought last weekend.  But by the time I'd pulled everything out, cleaned it all, cabled everything up, and put it all back together, it was mid afternoon.  And by the time we got the amp configured it was 4pm :(  So what started off as a great day (take a random day off work - highly recommended!) became a bit frustrating at the end.  And I don't even have any documentary evidence of my work :(

Tuesday night we met Peter at the Dumpling Inn for dinner.  We had our usual shredded beef peking style, chinese broccoli, and something we hadn't tried - bbq lamb in shantung sauce.  That was a bit heavy, and not as good as the other stuff.  But we all had room for dessert!

Also on Tuesday our new buffet arrived.  So we moved that last night to its position in the lounge room.  The contents to adorn the top of it are still being decided upon ;)

Today I mostly just felt blah and not inspired to do anything much (like the whole cleaning of the house that I need to do).  So just read news feeds, organised photos and did a jigsaw I started on the last coast trip.
