Spent a goodly amount of today fighting with it. Haven't done much notes programming all year, and now I'm trying to do swishy complicated things with it. Boss to the rescue!
Other than that, it's suddenly 11pm, how did that happen?

I am the world's worst procrastinator. If the first step in doing something is the slightest bit difficult that thing just does not get done. So it was with some notes programming I had to do. This task had been hanging over my head literally *all year* because every time I thought about it I thought "urghh" (literally!). Well after fixing the thing I fixed yesterday I was without much left todo, so asked my boss what I should do next. (This in itself is always a dangerous thing to do, because he will always allocate the stuff that I've been trying to put off as long as possible). The response of course was this horrible notes job. As it turned out however, the task wasn't too complicated or even difficult, and I had it done within an hour or two. So all those months of stressing over this stupid job, and it was over and done with in an hour. How tragic is that? I really should tackle other such jobs, both at work and at home, with the same gusto...!
Yvonne has very kindly lent me a keyboard, so now I have no excuse not to learn the piano :):) Have already found one internet tutorial that I'm starting to work through.
Now just need to make sure I get all the other things done I need to do like paying bills, writing letters to the parking police, some programming for Thorpie, rearranging my flat to fit in a filing cabinet, etc, and not waste all day playing ;)
Keeping myself busy .. at work patching computers against the latest exploit.. hanging around at cia.. shopping.. watching The Mole (flipping ran out of tape and missed the last 10 minutes >:( ) .. half watching tv and programming
Which means while I'm distracted I'm actually in quite a good mood. Whenever I stop though, things catch up with me. Like passing within 200m of *his* place on the way home and getting that rather sinking feeling.
Gonna go back to my perl.
I can't even do the simplest of perl programming. I can't for the life of me work out why almost identical code will work in one situation, but behave completely differently in another. Just figured out one part of it. Needed a slosh in the right place (as opposed to a slash). flipping
That and a madhouse day patching servers like crazy and setting up info so that staff can do it for themselves also. http://www.microsoft.com/security/security_bulletins/ms03-026.asp has the potential to criple half (more than half actually) of the computers attached to the internet. So long as our servers are ok, then I can sit back and laugh at the ensuing chaos.
And there's only 14 days to go. Haven't decided what I want to do yet. Whatever I do, I'm sure only half a dozen people would turn up.
/me goes off to continue being depressed in private.

Trekked out to Strictly Aquariums today to get another light for the big fish tank. They didn't have the "purple" lights to fit my tank, but they had some "marine blue" ones. It'll be interesting to see how the plants grow under this light. The display tanks they have at the aquarium have fluorescent objects in the tanks because they fluoresce really nicely. I'll have to see if I can find anything around here to put in the tank.
After that I went out and had a look at the house my friends are interested in buying. It's a pretty cool house, with a stack of living space. It also turned out to be a bit of a family gathering, as many of their family also came out to inspect it.
Now I'm off to do family stuff. So much for getting any programming done this weekend :)
I only got through part of my todo list for this weekend :(
Just too busy :( And didn't recover my lost sleep either. Argh it's a disaster.
Didn't get to reinstall windoze, didn't get to do a dvd database for my friends, didn't get Esther read, didn't get the washing up done.
Did manage to get some new fish, go to cousin's engagement party, a bit of programming, and dinner at a friend's place
