Quite a pleasant weekend.

Yesterday was just pottering around the house.  Didn't do much in the way of housework though.  Don't actually know what I really did all day .. hrmmm...

Today was a sleep-in, then out for breakfast/lunch at Black Pepper, then our shopping, and suddenly it's 3pm?  Put on dinner for tonight and read news feeds and didn't do much else.

New Masterchef tonight.  And kicking myself that I didn't go watch all the rest of the Junior Masterchef episodes that I didn't see - because now the only episodes online are from the two main series and the celebrity one, but not the kids :(

I've been working on my own sort of recipe book (at the moment a series of word documents).  Trying to standardise the format and start to actually collect some of the things that we cook to make it easier for menu planning.

And now, just for fun, a few pics from recent weeks...

Some "fairy" bugs flitting around a tree on my walk home.  I saw them the first day and thought that would make a good photo.  The next day I actually stopped and pulled out my camera.  Didn't get any very good pics, this was the best of them.

The original plan for today involved having someone over to watch videos, so I'd clean up the house in preparation.  Except that the sweetie didn't feel up to being sociable today (he actually turned down two other offers as well).  So I just cleaned the house anyway.  Can see most of the floor of the study now.  And vacuumed and cleaned the bathroom and cleaned and put away the fan.  Only took most of the day in between some breaks catching up on news feeds and blogging about the Folk Festival yesterday.

I probably should have left the house at some point.  It was such a beautiful day!  Oh well...

Hook

Today the plan is to do housework and gardening.  There is so much to be done it's ridiculous.  Fortunately today is a glorious day, so will make a start on the garden I think.  Hopefully I'll be able to get the sweetie out of bed some time before the afternoon so he can help....

In order to clean my desk, I have to do some of the things on it.  Like mention a BookCrossing book I finished some weeks ago - Hook by Geary Gravel.  I saw the movie years and years ago, and the book I think is much the same (maybe).  It's a kids book though, so it's very short and doesn't really add much.  But it does make for easy before-bed reading.

Space Jigsaw

Since I don't have anything new or exciting to blog tonight (work - dealing with useless vendors, housework - washing, tidying etc, putting Lego away), here's a requested pic of the jigsaw from yesterday..

Firstly, excuse the crappy crappy photos :(

Sunday I made a fairly simple massaman curry.  All I knew was that it was supposed to have beef and potato, and I could use some massaman curry paste I had in the pantry.

So the recipe went along the lines of:
Cut up a bunch of chuck steak and potatoes and stick em in a slow cooker with three or four dollops of massaman curry paste and a little stock to cover.
Come back after doing fish stuff and some housework and add in a chopped up onion and carrot.
Stir occasionally over the course of the afternoon to make sure everything gets covered and cooked properly.
Add in a tin of light coconut cream at the end.

Yummy yum yum!  The sweetie went back for seconds (not unusual, but if he doesn't like it he won't) :)
And the onion was the softest onion I have ever eaten!
Slow cooked chuck steak I think is one of my favourite meats, I love how it disintegrates when you eat it.  I really should do more slow cooker recipes with it.

Tonight I decided to surprise the sweetie with okonomiyaki as seen on Bike Bake Blog.  I've been wanting to make this for weeks, and finally got around to doing it.

I used a little more flour and water than suggested, as it didn't seem batterey enough, and half a capsicum that was getting old and needed using up.  I should have cut up the cabbage finer, it was a bit rough.  Also made the okonomiyaki sauce which turned out really well as well.

The sweetie raved about this one, he said we should have it every week lol
I'm still full, I think two pancakes was a little too much for me!  We still have a heap of the mixture left so put that in the fridge for another night this week :)

Had a decent enough day yesterday.  Did some houseworky type stuff, took down the Christmas tree etc.  And didn't leave the house.

Today I just felt blah though.  Dunno why.

Didn't get much done.  Did play with my bucky magnets for a bit.

I was going to work some more on the wedding photo book but it was being a bumhead so gave up on that.

Went out in the arvo to drop off some old fluoro lights and a battery at the recycling place, then dropped in on Scott and Kerry before doing our food shopping.

Was still feeling blah when we got home.  I didn't feel like cooking and neither did the sweetie.

So I had a TV dinner.

I still don't have pictures for this entry.  If anyone cares, come back in a few days.

The first half of the long weekend was great.

Friday night we went over to Nat and Andrew's and met Suki.  Soooo cute!  Had pizza for dinner, then played some Wii music (some bits of it were fun, others were tedious), Singstar, Wiiracas and Mario Kart.

Saturday we went to Belco markets for breakfast and to look at fish shops.  Got back and got some housework done then spent a good chunk of the afternoon doing fish stuff.  Stu did a big tidy of the fish stuff in the garage and I cleaned out the danio tank and took the five danios back upstairs.

Sunday was doing more housey stuff when I started having an immune reaction.  So went and lay down around lunch time for a couple of hours.  The rest of the afternoon went in slow motion.  Did do a little tidying of my hobby room, so at least the day wasn't a complete waste :/

Today was just a mopey blah sort of day.  Did a jigsaw.  Ripped some of my cds.  Did the food shopping cause we had to.  That was about it really.

I did freecycle a couple of inkjet printers which was good.  Although a bit sad giving away a printer I spent $300 on back in the day.  Nowadays it's practically cheaper to buy a new printer than it is to buy new ink.  So stoopid.
So yesterday had me doing the housework to tidy up and clean before Dave and Alex came over for a late lunch (of nomm pasta bake).  Much beer and wine was drunk over the course of the afternoon.  Then the original plan was for them to go home and put The Mighty Angus to bed, but someone had the idea for us to go over and play Singstar :)  Where of course we drank quite a lot more wine.  And sang lots.  And I got beaten! :)  These guys are pretty good :)  Wasn't a hugely late night, but the effects of ten hours of drinking kinda made itself known heh.

Today played some wii for a bit, then went over to Scott and Kerry's, then did our grocery shopping.  And watched quite a lot of tv.

And so now the weekend's over :(
Except it's Tuesday .. sigh...

Had a pretty crap day at work.  Had too much to do, so naturally, didn't know where to start so nothing got done.  Hate that.

I did, however, have a much better evening when I got home, getting a bunch of housework and stuff done.

Finally got around to photographing the cointreau bottles we have.  The middle one we've had for a while.  The little one was part of a wedding present from work.  The big one we got duty free on the way home from our honeymoon.  The two smaller ones are empty .. whoops.. :)

And this is what we had for dinner - propellors!

Stop!

Seriously just stop!!

I get home, do some housework, cook dinner, eat dinner while watching tv, go for a walk, do the washing up, talk to the mother for an hour (!!) on the phone and suddenly it's 10pm and I've next to nothing to show for the night.

Went hunting today to find some nice paper/envelopes to use for the invitations.  Looked in like five different places.  Nothing.  Canberra sux sometimes.

Maybe I'll just send everyone an email to invite them to the wedding.

*sigh*
