Double Trouble

| | Comments (1)

I got the new Harry Potter Soundtrack yesterday. Very exciting. There's a whole new verse to the song "Double Trouble". If I had the time I'd go find the lyrics to try and learn them...

ah screw it, that's what google's for right?

Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble. Double, double, toil and trouble. Something wicked this way comes!

Eye of newt and toe of frog,
wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
lizard's leg and owlet's wing.

Double, double, toil and trouble.
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Double, double, toil and trouble.
Something wicked this way comes!

In the cauldron boil and bake,
fillet of a fenny snake,
scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
witches mummy, maw and gulf.

Double, double, toil and trouble.
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Double, double, toil and trouble.
Fire burn and cauldron bubble!
Something wicked this way comes!

Was at the airport the other day.

It was mid morning and looking north into the sun.

Through all the haze it was a strain to see the city.

Sorry not much imagination to this photo. The only other things I could think of were food strainers. Boring.

Dead Body? :(

We think we saw a dead body this afternoon. There was a campervan stopped in the middle of the road, and we could see some legs sticking out of the drivers side door. We just thought it had broken down, and the dude was under the front, or under the steering wheel or something. But as we drove past we saw the guy's face was covered in blood. There was a ranger that looked like he had been there a short while flagging us past. We figured he must of been dead because noone was giving him first aid. It was really strange because it wasn't a car accident, as there was no damage to his van. All we could think of was perhaps a road range incident, as he was stopped next to an intersection. It would also explain why he was partly out of his van. It was very disturbing. I've never seen a dead body before. Well I've seen bits of bodies in the uni's anatomy and pathology museums, but not a whole complete dead body that's only just died.

Arches National Park, Utah.

Was actually wondering what to use for this. I had several photos I could have used, but when I saw this, I decided this was the appropriate photo.

My favourite memes keep dying. Ok so only two of them have - this or that tuesday and friday five. Theme Thursday is good but takes too much thinking about. Anyone know any good memes?

This photo blew me away. I suddenly realised the possibilities of this camera. This is a macro photo of the screen of my laptop. Taken at full wide angle, with no flash (hence the slight blurryness from camera movement), and only cropped down to this size, you can see every LCD pixel. And this was only on the 3 megapixel setting - imagine the same photo taken at 8 megapix! There is no way my last camera could have come close to getting this shot.

Lui actually offered to buy my old Olympus, but I can't bear to part with it, it's been so faithful to me over the years. I need to get it serviced actually, one day soon.

To reiterate...

As I said in a previous post, all you need is Jason.. was feeling like crap after a wine-induced crash (wine and cheese night at work which was lovely, and ended up being the core four of us - luc, jim, john and I after everyone else left).. but feeling like crap when I got home and like I was going to throw up.. so put on Peter Pan and drooled over Jason Isaacs and felt immeasurably better after.

Sorry no Theme Thursday this week. Actually took a photo for it, but it was crap, and didn't really have anything else that suited the theme. First time I've conceded defeat since I started doing Theme Thursday. I promise I'll try better next time :)

I turned off the comments in one particular entry because I kept getting comment spam on it... and I'm *still getting comment spam* ???? how does that work??? I suppose I'll have to upgrade MT or something stoopid. Not happy jan!!!

Was feeling thoroughly depressed last night and this morning over Mr Italian twat, until I was getting ready for work and looking over Diane Taurins' Jason Isaacs page, and was immensly cheered up. Go figure. Didn't dare check my webmail though in case nasty person wrote back and deflated me again. Checked when he got home and he hadn't after all. So now a night dedicated to cleaning up the flat and organising stuff for having people over tomorrow night.

Well it has. Mr Italian twat is depressing me, telling to "stop being a nuisance". *sigh* I'm never going to see my money again.

Feel *slightly* better after getting the washing up done and one of the kitchen cupboards cleard of cockroach crap. That and did a water change in tank 2, so now only have 998 things to do in the next 4 and a half days. yay.

I don't think I ate enough dinner. I'm hungry now.

Go Amber

Although I'd rather have seen Rupert win. I just didn't want Rob to, although it seems he did by default by proposing to Amber! I was looking at pictures of her in the Australian survivor - she looked so *young* then!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Not that any of them read my blog (as far as I know) :)

Had a rather pleasant afternoon at my aunt and uncle's place, where I forgot for a couple of hours how much I have to do in the next week, and put aside the rising feelings of panic now starting to engulf me.

A note to my brother: stop saying "blog" in my parents' presence!!!!

Another girl

The biggest white angel laid a bunch of eggs today. So I have two white females in the big tank, and at least one female in the "breeding" tank.

The black ones haven't laid any more eggs in a while. Need to do a water change.

Don't think I'm really in the "mood" for Pulp Fiction which is on tv at the moment. I think I'm too darned tired :/ It's funny tho - they've cut out every instance of the f-word, yet the other night in Four Weddings and a Funeral they left them all in. Go figure.

I don't understand how people can do this to their phones. How do they do it? They must pick up the phone in one hand, turn it around to put it on their ear, then put it back, after it's been turned 360 degrees. I pick up the phone with my left hand (so I can still use the mouse), then put it back down again without twisting.

As such, this is not my phone, but Sami's. It also happens to be the 500th photo (and movie) taken on my new camera (500 photos in a week, am I insane??? - although a lot of those were test photos getting used to the camera)

Going to go from about number three on the Theme Thursday list last week to about a hundred this week.. oops :)

* I didn't get up for the eclipse this morning. Well actually I did set my alarm and got up, but I looked out the window and couldn't really tell if it was cloudy or not, plus it was cold and I would have had to get dressed and go out to the back lane, plus I'd probably only had about 4-5 hours sleep by that point, so I gave up on the thought and went back to bed. Pity really because apparently it was fairly clear.

* I checked the packing slip for the tiger lego mosaic, and there was really only meant to be six packets of black. So the problem was further upstream. They simply didn't pack enough black to complete the mosaic. Pretty tragic really. I'll see how I go with the other ones - there may be enough to complete the tiger with leftovers from the other sets.

* the husband of that ebay seller that stole my postage money mailed me back this morning to tell me that his wife had been in a serious car accident and was basically disabled. I had a look, and there's been no feedback for over a month, so it's quite probably true. Pretty sad really. Makes quibbling over $30 seem pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

So today Peter Pan was released on dvd. Naturally I went out as soon as I could to go looking for it. Didn't see it at EzyDVD, so tried K-mart. Walked all around their dvd section, thinking it should feature relatively prominently, being a new release and all. Nothing. Had almost finished walking around when I saw it. Three dvds tucked in a corner of a shelf. Of course I took the nearest one and went straight for the checkouts :)

Got home, and put it on after Survivor. The dvd was actually poisoned with an advert for another movie at the beginning of it!? What are they thinking? Only vhs tapes hired from video stores are allowed to have those! I just wanted Jason dammit!! So anyway. Jason is, of course, lovely, although he simply cannot shout. It doesn't work. He is so softly spoken and is at his best when he's whispering menacingly. Which he does several times and I melted into a puddle. Can't help thinking of him as Lucius though. Comes from watching Chamber of Secrets too often.

Other than that. The Patriot which I ordered on dvd for $13.95 turned out not to be the right movie and they "apologise for the inconvenience this causes" and said the actual price is $31.95. Can prolly buy it in BigW cheaper than that, will keep an eye out for it.

Also accidently touched the lens of my camera today. Pissed off at leaving a smudge. I do have some lens cleaning tissue, but no fluid, and breath condensation just leaves streaks :(

Once again it's entirely way past my bed time. Especially since I want to get up at 4:30 to look at/photograph the lunar eclipse. hrm. This is not looking good. I'll think about it in bed :)

street with tree Naked Street

I'm just not sure anymore.

The sad.. they finally cut down the Moreton Bay Fig tree today. In 9 hours the entire thing was reduced to saw dust. Except for a few seed pods which I've planted. Does anyone know how to raise fig tree seedlings? The entire street looks *naked* without the tree's gracious presence.

The happy.. got my four mosaic sets from Dennis (yayy).. except the first one I built (the tiger) was missing a bunch of black pieces. Looks like the box may have been opened at some point, maybe by customs, but looks like one little bag of 90 pieces is not there. Oh well, bricklink to the rescue I guess.

Thoroughly useless patch training day today (ironic, considering the timing of it, and the sasser worm).

Midnight.. one more night without sleeping...

I've been having a blast with my new camera. It's so damned fast it's scary. The picture quality is great. I'm able to get a shallow depth of field to photos, so I can actually take portaits and close ups with the background out of focus. Very exciting :) It seems to have some issues focussing things very close up (when not in macro mode - still haven't done much playing with that), and I'm still learning how to use it properly, but so far I'm very happy with it :):)

Dave found this useful site, that generates the html of surveys for you, so you don't have to remove your friends' answers to quizzes.. very nifty :)

Have you ever cussed?:Yes
Have you ever been on a subway?:Yes
Have you ever taught a little kid to cuss?:No

Had a busy cleaning day today. And tidying. And organising. And researching.

Pulled Jason in lego apart and put it all away. Sorted out a bunch of recent ebay purchases (I've bought a bunch of stuff recently and it's always fun going to the post office not knowing what you're going to get - Friday I came home with two packages and had no idea what was in them until I opened them - like getting birthday presents :) ). Played with my camera.

oh I know why I'm so tired. Had an Evilhouse video night at Campbell's last night - watched Spun and Cypher. Both very strange movies. Went to be around 2am blah!
