Do you use the MT Blacklist Plugin? It's stopped most of mine. It rejects eight or ten comments a day about drugs and stuff.
In MT 3, there will be user registration, but they're charging $99 (US) for it. Although they have a 30 percent discount right now, it's still a lot to pay just to blog, especially if they upgrade every year and stick it to you again and again...

I'm growing unhappier with each revision of MT. It always was a code whore, but it's just getting ridiculous just how intense the code is for the average non-perl and non-C programming public. 99 bucks for MT3? Wish I'da grabbed a 2.64 free distribution pack from their server a while back... and now I'd have to get licensed to get support? I mean c'mon, I donated money--twice-- and even paid for an installation once before I had high speed and the phone line was messing things up, and now they want more money? I hear Wordpress is still free...

You can still download 2.661 of MT as I write, under the old licence. You can get it from http://www.movabletype.org/download.shtml - don't know how long it will be there though.

I've grabbed a copy of this if anyone ever needs it, thanks for that.
Not sure if I'll get the time to install it today.. we'll see how we go.. :/
Richard
I downloaded a copy too, just as a backup in case I need to reinstall at any point. So we have plenty of copies to pass around if anyone gets desperate. :o)
Dennis
Well, I just upgraded my install to 3.0, the free version, which I happen to qualify for, and it is a lot better as far as the interface and all. I'm glad I don't have too many blogs or authors listed not to qualify...
I turned on comment registration and moderation, so I don't think there will be any comment spam getting through. I think I like it better than MT Blacklist.
