Friday night we watched Argo.  I liked it, aside from constantly thinking "did this *actually* happen?".  Well the plane chase apparently didn't.  heh.

Had a pretty quiet weekend.  Did a lot of housework and stuff.  Geotagged a few days worth of photos.  Did food shopping yesterday.  Watched several episodes of TOS.  This afternoon I pretty much just cooked all afternoon.  First up a raspberry crumble from a packet of frozen raspberries that had been in the freezer probably since I inherited them off Potty at the end of last year.  Then a breakfast lasagna.  Then a real lasagna (prepared but not baked yet).  Had a break to have a walk at the very muddy Palmerville.  Then finished up with a small roast for dinner.

The sweetie made good progress on his essay until he got a migraine tonight :(

Now we're both going to have an early night.

Last night we went over to Ben's new place for dinner.  He made a lasagna which was delicious.  Then just chatted and half watched the food channel.  His new flatmate Tim seems like quite a nice guy.

Bit better day today.  Even though I never rebooted, the scanner decided it would work this morning so scanned thirty six photos.

Tonight my todo list took me til just now (9:40pm) to get through.  It include such things as cooking dinner, cleaning up the kitchen and running the dishwasher, taking out the recycling, doing a load of washing and hanging it out, and downloading my photos and backing up my computer.  That one took a while because I was closely watching it to make sure windows 10 didn't do anything funky with robocopy.  Aside from some new status codes (anything that's not modified is "modified" - wtf?? and some files said "older", but what the heck does that mean?  It still has extra files, actually modified files, new files etc.  Weird weird weird).  But I checked source and destination file and byte counts and it all looked ok.

I also managed to geotag day 33 of my trip, and after adding the exiftool to the exclusions list from Windows Defender, it seems to run a *lot* faster!

Now it's 9:45pm and I still need to wash my hair.. :/

Friday night we had dinner with Damien and Amanda at the Dumpling Inn.  That was nice to catch up with them - haven't seen them in ages.

Saturday morning we did a bunch of shopping, then headed out to the club for a Christmas in July.  We got there a bit before 1:30pm, I put the pork on at 1:50pm, and spent most of the rest of the afternoon organising and preparing and cooking and stuff.  Had some help chopping veggies which was nice, and some people decorated the shed so it was all quite nice.  We bought a 4.8kg piece of pork.  1kg chicken roll.  Lots of veggies.  Made apple sauce from scratch.  We came home with a chinese container of pork.  People ate a lot I tells ya!  Everyone seemed to have a good time so that was nice.

This is not even all the food - it doesn't show the epic potato bake or really show the carrots and peas!

Oh we also made two pavlovas and brought some fruit cake.  Came home with three slices of pavlova and a bit of fruit cake.  Ok I didn't *make* the pavlova, just topped it with cream and berries.

Sunday was basically just housework.

Today I tried to do my usual morning routine of scanning some photos but my computer refused to talk to the scanner :(  Extremelly upsetting.  Will probably have to reboot my computer and *hope* I can connect next time.

Then Ingress was a big poo due to the last buggy release which meant needing to reboot the phone, then Optus was being a poo so missed out on glyph hacking a level 8 portal.  So I was having a crap day and hadn't even made it to work yet. :(

At work I'm feeling pretty useless.  I'm really too dumb to be in the team I'm in.  *sigh*

Snow

It snowed in Canberra last week.  I woke up (a zombie due to lack of sleep) and walked out into the kitchen and thought it was a super heavy frost before realising it was snow.  That woke me up somewhat!

Then last night we had the warmest overnight July night temperature in recorded history.  Craziness.

Tonight I only geotagged some of day 24's photos, and didn't do any fish tank rescues, but did attack the piles of crap next to my desk.  Still a long way to go.

Had a pretty good night's sleep last night which was nice.

Tonight I had a huge todo list but only did part of it.

I cooked dinner and cleaned the kitchen.  We watched an episode of Homeland.  I did a water change in the two foot tank upstairs.  I did a load of washing.  I didn't attack the huge pile of paper around my desk like I wanted to, but did clean off the surface of my desk.  I didn't look at or geotag the next day of holiday photos, but I did manage to geotag all mum's photos of the half day tour she did by herself while I caught up on stuff and had some down time.

Our power tripped again this afternoon :(:(  Was it even that big tank heater??  Who knows now :(  I bought an RCD from Jaycar and we plugged it in front of Stu's small tanks.  I want to completely redo the power in the study.  I want to have all the fish tank stuff on one outlet (with the RCD) and all the computer stuff on another.  We probably run way too much off the one double outlet, but short of running new circuits through the house, what else are we meant to do?  Maybe we should run a circuit just for all the fish tanks heh.

Need to find some time so I can breathe.

Had a fairly decent weekend last weekend.  Got quite a few things done on the todo list, including renewing my domain names (kazza.id.au has been in existence for fourteen years today!), vacuuming and cleaning out the pool, washing the sheets, installing windows 10 on my little laptop (and the GPS software still works hurrah!), cleaning the kitchen, some fish tank work, food shopping and cooking.  Didn't do the house vacuuming though.

In between we had our work ball, which I'll get some photos online for eventually.

This week was a very strange week.  We had several farewell events for the Chrises including a long lunch on Wednesday.  Gonna miss them.  It also seems certain that we will lose literally the best bar in Canberra.  And our carpark.  All very depressing.  Got some work done in between, although wasn't terribly motivated.

I also got grumpy this week at Insight Vacations who have been ignoring my emails.  And at myself for not registering for the last Ingress Anomoly - which means the hundreds of jarvises, adas, cubes, bursters etc that I donated to the cause will have been for nothing :(

Our pool froze over twice during the week.  And yesterday the power tripped early in the morning which means the fish tank heaters didn't work all day, and we lost some fish in the smallest tank :(

Have been spending mornings scanning mum's photos.  Two weeks to scan each album, give or take.  So one down this morning, four more to go until the next swap-meet when I can get some more.

And I have this odd sort of feeling that I'm coming down with something.

Busy, Insomnia

Last night was get home, cook dinner, eat dinner, watch an episode of Homeland, go for a walk with Chris and Ben, and by then it's a quarter to nine, and I still wanted to process a day of photos and needed to wash my hair.  So only just made it to bed by 11pm.

Veggie baking

And then woke up at something like 4:30 with a brain that wouldn't SHUT UP! and only a bit of broken sleep after than.

Tonight was get home, cook dinner, eat dinner, watch an episode of Homeland - and that's in between drama of people with broken down cars and freecycle people all competing for my time as well!  Gaaahhhh!!!  Drama.

Not as bad as Chrissie's dramas of course, with aforementioned broken down car (which isn't even her car).  Petrol gauge was broken and after having been assured that the car had plenty of petrol, it didn't, and she ran out of fuel.  Fun times.  Not.  Especially in peak hour traffic.  Fortunately her neighbour was able to rescue her.

And now it's nearly 8pm.

Better get stuck into the photos I guess...

At least it's Thursday tomorrow!

And here's a photo of a cockatoo, taken way back in February..

The Art of the Brick

Waaaaaay back in January I saw another one of Nathan Sawaya's Lego exhibitions in Sydney.  This one had a DC Comics theme, so lots of comics and super heroes.  It was at the Powerhouse Museum, and very nicely they let you take photos.  And they didn't overcrowd each session, so it was possible to get photos without a thousand kids heads in the way.

Work wasn't too stressful today.  Spent all morning going through my emails.  Spent the afternoon catching up bits and pieces.  So that was nice.

Tonight I began the long slow process of looking at all my photos, resizing a copy of them and geotagging them.  Then I can start culling to select some for blogging.  Also before too much longer I'll need to sort out the "people" photos before I forget who's who.

And here's a photo of a spider at Kit's at the end of last year..
