Productive day

Had a relatively productive day today.  Well at least I got the first draft of my wedding invitations done.  We also went shopping.  And I cooked a spectacular lamb roast.

Still stressing about how much I have to do tho.  And figure out a guest list.  Blah.

Cake Topper

Had a relatively productive morning.  But then went out for coffee/lunch, and started getting stressed about being out all day (which is what so often happens here on the weekends).  So came home and planned and bought materials for my Lego cake topper :)

I was originally inspired by Eric Harschbarger (my hero), and have modified the design a bit.

It should look amazingly cool, aside from the extreme geekiness of it :)

Also did more work on the invitation designs (hampered by my complete lack of creativity).
When we were getting lunch, this little brat was moving his chair to deliberately make a horrible and very loud high pitched squeal.  Over and over again.  I actually told him to stop because it was so distressing, but when he could see that I was upset by it he grinned and did it all the more.  If I had a kid like that, I'd either be committed to a mental asylum, or to prison after killing him.

Of course the drop-kick father didn't even try to stop him.

People suck.

ok so a little late :)

NYE Margie came over and we had a bbq (well an indoor version anyways as it was raining).. David cooked up a storm of a lot of meat .. mmmm meat :) We even finished off the leftover smoked turkey and ham that we brought up. Afterwards we played singstar, but it was insisted we play the new version, with no skips, which meant I got a few songs I've never heard of before.. doh.. And then I got beaten by an eight year old at Toxic.. doh! ;)

Spent a decent chunk of the evening doing my year in review. Then I declared it beer o'clock and had a few drinks while we watched The Fifth Element and I Am Legend. We were all too full from lunch to eat much, and in fact didn't even feel like drinking much, so by 11:30 we were all about ready to go to bed. But we hung in there, said our happy new years and watched the Sydney fireworks (that had been delayed an hour for us peoples in Queensland :) )

Yesterday we took it a bit easy, and then we headed off to the airport to go home. The takeoff was the freakiest I've ever been through. It seriously felt like we were about to get blown sideways off the runway! Distracting us from this was the little girl behind Stu who *screamed* for the entire taxi and takeoff until the seatbelt light was turned off. *yay*. Our flight took us right over the middle of Sydney, which frustrated me no end because I was on the wrong side of the plane for the best photos. But still got some reasonable ones of western Sydney. Since when does a line from Brisbane to Canberra go over Sydney tho? And we came in from the south at Canberra.. so really didn't win picking seats on the right side of the plane.

Today it was back to work. Which was not much fun, especially as I'd had so little time at home this holiday. It was a frustrating day of having to get other teams to fix things so that we could do our thing.

I finished the Millenium Falcon tonight. Well, sort of. I was missing two 2x3 grey plates, and a right wing (but I had a left wing leftover). So this is quite distressing me, and I haven't taken any photos of it "finished" yet until I can fix up the wrong bits that would be visible in photos.

Anyways.. happy new year and all that :)

Well
I did manage to clean the bath and vanity.
I unpacked a few boxes and found lots of my bits and pieces.
I went into the city and lunch with Stu, Damien and Mishi.
I bought petrol.
I cooked a kangaroo roast and some yummy baked potatoes for dinner.
I made a mess.
I spread clutter all over the house.
I got stressed at the mess.
I didn't sort out the computer cables.

It was very hot in the car when I got back to it after lunch.
Very Hot

  • Packers came this morning
  • Packers stressed me out by mixing up the contents of my perfectly ordered shelves
  • I have no idea what's in half the boxes
  • I got a new computer today
  • I have no idea how to use it
  • I have far too much data
  • I have far too much stuff
  • My Mum totally rocks
  • I got a $17k payslip today (nett)
  • The government took $11k (bastards)
  • There's no way everything I have will fit into the storage unit Stu rented for us
  • Tomorrow is going to be no less stressful

  • ahh.. the weekend... I think I need a weekend to recover.. :)

So Friday night the boy arrived, and we made wholemeal pizzas (exceedingly yummiferous) and watched Star Trek and The Bourne Identity, with strawberries for dessert.

Saturday we made wholemeal pancakes as per my recipe the other day. Without a blender or lemon juicer. (!) So had to whisk the batter with a fork and squeeze the lemon by hand.. really not recommended! But they turned out really well, and not lumpy as I thought they might be based on the consistency of the flour that went into the batter.

Then we meandered up to the blue mountains at rather a high velocity. M5-M7-M4 and we're at the Nepean River in about 40 minutes. The wattles are starting to look pretty now..

When we got to Leura, we thought we'd take the scenic route. Ended up at Leura cascades (after passing a sign on a restraunt for a Wayzgoose, I'm sure Stu would want that blogged hehe). Walked down to the cascades..

Next it was up to Echo Point to do battle with tourists for a piece of railing.

    It was very windy..

    Windy

    Obligatory Three Sisters shot...

    The Three Sisters

Next I thought I'd torture Stu, both mentally and physically...

    Giant Staircase

The Skyway was even running in the insane wind...

    Skyway

The view at the end of the walk is good though..

    Jamieson Valley

And the Scenic Railway arrived just as we did

    Scenic Railway

Stu was very brave taking the railway up. Woulda been better going down for his first time, but no intention of ever doing the Giant Staircase *up* heh

    View from the train

It only gets to a maximum angle of 52° but it feels a lot more vertical than that

    Scenic railway points dowwwwnnnn

So then it was a mad dash back to the car, cause we only paid for two hours parking :/ In fact the whole thing felt very rushed and stressful because of that. Next time (hrmm) will park at the Scenic Railway end, which has bucketloads of free parking ..

So then it was back down the hill to Striker's for a bbq for his birthday.

When Jess arrived, she hit the ground. I joined her.

Jess and I doing Cousin Itt. Very impromptu so I didn't get to brush my hair into place..

    Cousin Itts

    Lots of yummy food..

    Yummy potato bake

    More yummy food

No garage is complete without an anvil..

    Anvil

    Or pistons..

Then we dropped Jess home and made it home quite late.

This morning we slept in and finished watching the Bourne Identity. Then off to my parents for a roast pork lunch.

Found some relics from my childhood while cleaning out one of my old cupboards of stuff I really should take to Canberra .. not this tho!

    Height chart

Or this.. which has been in my cupboard for as long as I have memories..

    Cyclops brumby

Stopped at San Souci on the way (sort of) home

    City over the bay

We're going to Lord Howe Island in one of these..

    Dash-8

    There's some really cool trees..

    Cool trees

And finally home where we spent nearly two hours pulling apart my big original fish tank - getting the fish out, then the plants, then thorough gravel vacuuming, cleaning and finally playing tetris to get it all into Stu's car.

So now the study feels a bit more lonely, and a lot quieter..
Oh yeah .. my calves.. *killing* me .. !!

    Blah

Why won't the parents accept "I don't know" as an answer to "what are you doing for your wedding?" They don't stop at "what are you doing?". When they don't get an answer to that it's "do you have *any idea* what you're doing?" Flipping heck. Really stressing me out :(

That and my mail server spacked again tonight and threatened not to reboot, and that it's *always* hot in here even when the rest of the unit is pleasantly cool after a cool change blew through, and that getting home late means a late night after all the other housekeeping nonsense is done, and I'm one tired/stressed girl :(
