Went to bed at 19:45. Slept okish, awake from 5:17. Out the door around 9:15.
We popped down the road to see Englebrecht Cave, but you can't really see much from the surface, just a bit of a hole in the ground.
Got some petrol then had to go back to the motel to get Stu's hat and jacket, so 9:45 by the time we headed off for reals.
Our first stop was Beachport lighthouse.
We took the Bowman Scenic Drive, stopping at a few lookouts along the way.
Then parked in town and had a look at the old Harbour Master's House (used to be a YHA, now an AirB&B).
Then walked all the way out along the jetty.
Had a bit of a walk through town to look at some of the buildings. Didn't really like the vibe of Beachport - it was full of bogans with epic 4WD trucks. Maybe it was just because it was a Saturday.
Found a park and had some snackages for lunch.
Then we headed for Robe, the first stop being the lighthouse.
Then out to the obelisk. Except the road is blocked off a few hundred metres back, and now you park at the Old Gaol Ruins so had a look at those first.
Then walked down for a closer look at the Obelisk. Except they've taken after Victoria and fenced off everything. But not satisfied with one fence, there's TWO fences, which means you can't actually get a photo without another fence in the way. Retards.
Headed into town and had a look at the Chinese Memorial.
We were feeling peckish at this point (it was like 15:30) so stopped at a fish & chips place in town and grapped a couple of potato scallops (they call them potato cakes here) and a couple of calamari rings. Went down the road a little to eat them (they were very good).
Listened to Mythos on the 1.5 hour drive back to Mt Gambier.
Dropped into Coles for a big shop for the next few days and KI. They'd replenished their stocks of veal cordon bleu so I got one for dinner :)
Back to the motel for GPS/photos/dinner/BBT.
