In bed around 20:37, but took ages to get to sleep because my legs were both restless *and* itchy from those damned fly bites. Then awake from around 1:00 for hours. Sigh.
Got ready and out the door 9:05.
First stop was Cape Jaffa lighthouse in Kingston SE (it was moved from a reef off Cape Jaffa in the 1970s). It was very colourful in the morning sun, but we didn't go on the tour of it that looked like it was about to start.
Also in Kingston SE was The Big Lobster but of course I had to wait for ages for PEOPLE to get out of the damned way.
Saw a live echidna at one point but sadly a dead one not long after.
We stopped at one point on the Coorong that had a pelican viewing platform, but the pelicans were a *long* way away.
Tried to find the lakes near Meningie that Mum took a photo of in 1969 but her photo was very non-descript so didn't find it.
The GPS originally said to cross the Murray at Tailem Bend, but I wanted to cross at Wellington, so we did that.
Then onto the motel, arriving 16:00. Annoyingly the standard operating hours of this place is like 9:00-16:00 which is *dumb*, and if you want to arrive late you need to call them in advance to give them your credit card and get "detailed instructions" on how to check in. Turns out in warmer weather they will leave the pool open a little longer (pool hours are office hours) and so the office was going to be open til 17:00.
The room itself is nice enough, with a decent king size bed which is nice. No view. Like literally all you can see is a tiny sliver of sky. Given they built all these things along the side of a hill you'd think they would have designed the things better so all rooms got some sort of view. Or even made it so these middle level rooms got a view of the gardens out the back. Dumb. It's all well appointed but there's no kitchen sink, so you have to wash dishes in the bathroom sink which I really don't like. The bathroom sink taps are really hard to turn on and off and the odd layout of the bathroom means there's nowhere to put your stuff while in the shower except outside the shower room and there's not enough places to hang towels. Still, it's a nicer/better maintained room than the place in Mt Gambier, and a lot cheaper too.
The sun was shining but the sweetie didn't want to move so I went down to Victor Harbour by myself. Had a bit of a wander around the waterfront and got some photos.
Then dropped into Woollies for some supplies.
And had a quick look at the lookouts on the bluff.
Salads for dinner (we're not getting enough real food at the moment) then went for a walk down on the waterfront.
Back to do GPS/photo stuff.
