Day 5 - Sunday 3 November - Hong Kong Island

Slept a bit better last night.

Still, had an easy morning, doing photo stuff before heading up for another big breakfast.

Hong Kong is crazy. As a British colony, everything is "keep left". Except the escalators - but only those in the metro stations.

After breakfast we trained it to Central, then hopped on a bus 6 to Stanley. It was quite a nice ride over the island.

At Stanley we wandered down the promenade, then I had a good long wander through the markets.

While waiting for a 73 Aberdeen bus, a 52 minibus came along, so we jumped on that instead.

At Aberdeen we wandered along the promenade for a little bit, but didn't really do much there.

We were going to head back to Central at this point (the sweetie was tired and wanted to go back to the hotel), but we saw that the 73 bus went to Tsim Sha Tsui, which we thought would be even better. At least that's what the indicator on the bus suggested. Except it didn't. It went to Cyberport and then terminated. Ooops. So we're stuck somewhere where we had no idea how to get out of. Fortunately it wasn't too difficult to figure out, and we got a 70 (we think) back to Nathan Road, where we trained it back to the hotel.

Chillaxed briefly, but then I thought it would be nice to go see the Peak at night while the weather was still ok. The sweetie reluctantly agreed, so out we headed again.

We stopped at a local restaurant for dinner - we had some goose and some vegetables which were nice enough.

Then trained it to Central. We decided to forgo an hour long wait for a tram, and instead took the number 15 bus. It was pretty slow going up the hill, but still probably faster than waiting for the tram, and it was air conditioned.

Got to the peak a bit before eight, so took some photos and videos of the lights, and of the 8pm Symphony of Lights. The queue for the down tram was much longer than it was the other day when we took it, so we decided to get the number 15 bus back down the hill again. This time we got off at Admiralty, because it was somewhat less far to walk to the train than at Hong Kong/Central station.
