North Atlantic 2018

One year ago today the sweetie and I headed back to the Northern Hemisphere to do another trip on the Queen Mary 2.  We spent a couple of days in Tokyo first, then a day and a half in Southampton.  Did a mid winter transatlantic crossing, followed by a week and a half over Christmas and New Years cruising to the Caribbean and back from New York.  Five days in New York, then took the longest commercial flight to Singapore.  Had a day there before coming home.

It took me eleven months to download, process, geotag, label, cull and blog all the photos.

But it's all finally done.

You can see the entire blog here:

Monday night was washing, dinner, tv, kitchen and suddenly it's 19:43.  Sigh.  Did do some holiday photo processing and blogging though.

Tuesday was dinner, BBT, kitchen but only 19:00 - better.  Patched and rebooted the computer.  Half an hour later.

Taco Tuesday

Wednesday.  Sucky day.  Realised I'd broken stuff and had to fix it.  Realised other people had broken stuff and I'm *still* waiting for them to fix it.  Had leftover lamb for dinner and inflicted our last holiday slide show on David.

Thursday we went to Bharat International, an Indian grocery store that has a restaurant attached.  I had goat curry which was ok, but a tad spicy for me and very bony.

A guy at work had this tshirt which was pretty cool.

Didn't you know it's *never* lupus? ;) #bbt #housemd

It's never lupus

Friday was the first of the work Christmas parties.  Quite a lovely afternoon.  Didn't go bowling because it was too hot and sunny.

Had a drink with Kit in the evening which was really nice, before she headed off to the pub with Katie.  Watched The World is Not Enough.

Saturday got bits and pieces done in the morning while Stu went off to the club and Kit slept in.

In the afternoon was the first of Kit's hen's events - Laser Tag!!  Except there was only ten of us, so they put us with fifteen little 10-11 year old girls.  It was chaos.  Fricken Little Girls everywhere.  And they'd hang around in little packs or pairs.  The worst thing was some of the expressions on their faces - they looked like psycopaths or something - no emotion whatsoever, they would literally just stare at you and expect you to move on.  I'd have been a lot happier if they'd actually looked like they were having fun.  Still, our team of five (Kit, the bridesmaids and Leisa) won both games.  I came fourth in the first game and second in the second, and Kit won the second which was pretty cool.

Came back to my place so we could get changed and get ready then headed out again.

Hens bride and bridesmaids

This time to the George Harcourt.  Those guys *seriously* do not want business.  Well not if you want to book anyway.  During the week I tried about five times to get through to the function number - 0423 257 978 - but they just wouldn't answer the phone.  I left a message once which they did *not* return, even though I explicitly asked them to to make sure they'd received my message (because last time I left a message a couple of months back when I was trying to make the original booking, they never returned my call).  I tried one last time to call the function number before calling the pub directly, but they answered this time.  I asked them to please change the numbers from 15 to 18.  I bet you can guess what happened.. yep, they never ammended my booking.  Not impressed.  Fortunately it all worked out and we all fit in.  (I won't even get started on the fact they don't do "doubles", even in a high glass, yet they will happily sell me two at once, or apparently you can get it on the rocks - so you could mix it yourself.  Makes no sense at all).

But anyhoo.

Bride and mother of the bride

Had a pretty good night there and Chloe and Katie had a couple of party games which were a bit of fun.  Chloe and Kit and I split two dishes (arancini balls) between the three of us, which was a much more sensible quantity of food.

At midnight Chloe drove Kit, Katie and me to Moby's.  Had a couple of drinks there (these guys don't take cards at all, all a little dodgy).  I was trying to hold out for Kit but I just couldn't keep up with the youngsters so called it a lot earlier than them.

Sunday I woke up pretty much at normal time, because that's what my body does.  Had a bit of breakfast (loving our toasted sandwich maker) then attempted to get more sleep.  Failed, because that's what my body does.  Still, I rested for a few hours, so wasn't as tired in the afternoon as I would have been.  Made toasted cheese sandwiches for Kit and Chloe before they went home.

Around lunch time I logged on to do a cutover of mail to our new environment.  Except we had a really really bizarre issue that I just couldn't figure out.  So rolled back the change.  Didn't figure out what the problem was until today.  Stoopid dependencies.  So what should have been a ten minute job had me online for 2.5 hours :(  #grunt.  Watched some Amazing Race in the afternoon, and BBT and Good Place with the sweetie in the evening.

Today I woke up with sore throat but felt mostly ok.  Busy day as always.  But the sore throat wouldn't go away and by evening I was definitely starting to feel sick.  Fricken great.  I don't have TIME to get sick - I'm too freakin busy both at home and at work to get sick.  Had dinner with the sweetie at Happy's, then did a small food shop.  And instead of me doing All The Things that I need to do, I'm going to go to bed as soon as I've hung out my washing.  I certainly don't have the energy to fight with Apple to get my photos, so I'll update this entry with photos later.

Sweet and sour duck at Happy's

So never managed to blog last weekend.

So two Mondays ago there was Good Place, photo labelling, downloading and processing photos, and suddenly it's 21:45.  #grunties

Tuesday.  Twelve years on the job.  Phone is a year old.  Boycotted the Melbourne Cup lunch and went had our own with Dave5 and Connor.

At some point I saw an ad for the Amazing Race, so went home and watched the first three episodes.  10 Play has really lifted their game, and the ad experience is 100 times better than it used to be.  Different ads during each break, and much fewer repeats in the same hour.

Later that evening the ISS flew over.

Just the moon and the ISS

Nothing much of note for the rest of the week, just a trip to Melbourne ;)

Monday just catching up on All The Things - both at home and at work.  More fighting with Apple to get the timelapse video off my phone.  I still haven't been able to get it to play.  Microsoft will happily charge $1.45 for a codec download.  hrmmmm.

Tuesday filled the green bin and watched another Amazing Race.  Continued battling with Apple.  Literally spent the entire Amazing Race episode trying, and then *still* not getting the file.  No more photo labelling either.

Wednesday I tried Google Drive to get the file off my phone.  Was able to get it, but still has the same codec error.  I did catch up up photo labelling, but nothing else.  Noted after @kapgar was talking about pillows that my pillow is probably forty to fifty years old, depending on when Mum got it.

Thursday evening did food shopping.  Aquila suggested VLC to play the timelapse file.  It was a jerky disaster.  Had a bit of a talk to Kit, who is super stressed about All The Things, with the wedding only three weeks away.

We got these for the Christmas Punch when we went shopping.  They look suspiciously the same, and the only difference in the ingredients is that one contains pectin (!?)

Friday had been hurty overnight so very tired Friday.  Picked up the sweetie and watched Tomorrow Never Dies.

Saturday I made a delicious cheesy beef casserole for breakfasts based on this recipe but with no pasta and only half the tomato puree.

Then got stuck into All. The. Things.  Had a super busy day getting the house cleaned and ready for the little brother to move in.

Installed this new towel rail

I cleaned out a drawer and shelf in the bathroom, and hangy cupboard and a shelf in the spare bedroom, and cleaned off the computer desk in the spare room.  It was storage for a *lot* of stuff!

Collapsed late in the afternoon with more Amazing Race.

Then we picked up Neil and went to Cisco's for @CLBradley's 60th.  Was a nice night, but we both ate wayyy too much (we shoulda just done our own thing, not the banquet.. oh well..)

Today I went mountain climbing, then we ran some errands in the morning.

I spent the entire afternoon processing and geotagging photos from the past week.  Yeeeeshh.

Apple. Sux. Donkeyballs.

I've literally spent two days trying to get all my files downloaded off my phone so I could blog them.  But once again I'm having to fight with Apple to get my timelapse files.

Half the time when I plug my phone in it shows Internal Storage -> DCIM, but then won't show any of the subdirectories.  Have to disconnect and reconnect and hope Apple will deign to show me its files the next time.

If you try to download timelapse files in "automatic", the computer will throw an error "a device attached to the system is not functioning" and then you have to disconnect and reconnect and if you're *lucky* you'll be able to see the phone in windows explorer, otherwise you have to reboot the whole phone.

If you change the settings for Photos -> Transfer to Mac or PC -> Keep Originals (and then disconnect and reconnect the phone, again hoping this time it might show you the files), the file will download, but then you can't open it - windows throws the error "Can't play - This item was encoded in a format that's not supported.  0xc00d5212".  I was sure that's how I got it to work after one of our holidays, but it doesn't seem to anymore.

Last time I emailed the file to myself, but this is 100MB.

How the f@#% am I meant to get this file?  Buy a Mac?   Not a fricken chance.

And it's 20:30 and I haven't done *any* of my photo labelling for the night.  Blogging?? pfft!!!

I HATE APPLE!!!!

The truth is I never read you ..

Not on the internet.  This is what happens when stuff is broadcast on the radio before the internet was a thing..

Moving on.

Monday the sweetie cooked dinner because he was home all day.  He called it cabbage hash - cabbage, halloumi and egg.  Starting getting a cold sore.  In a spot I haven't had one in in like thirty years.  I thought I was pretty much immune to the ones I had as a kid.  I normally get them in a spot I first had them in in 1999 when I got one off Marc when he was two.  So this is either a relapse, or potentially a new strain from somewhere.  The horror.

Tuesday smashed out my photo labelling.

Wednesday someone rang me up, started ranting at me, and I'm like *breathe*, and then she hung up on me.  I hate hate HATE the phone, HATE talking to strangers and can't deal with being put on the spot like that.  Everyone around me was all WTF too, apparently she has a reputation for being rude.  Welcome to my black list.  Couldn't concentrate properly the rest of the afternoon.  Didn't do any photo labelling that night, just watched For Keeps?

Thursday was still feeling delicate.  My computer had a spaz and wouldn't unlock and ended up having to reboot it.  So was feeling like everything is awful on Thursday too.

Friday I took a Random Day Off, but spent most of it doing housework.  Met up with the sweetie and Jenn for a drink at Hippo Bar (very slow service, I gave up, eventually Stu got me a drink).  Had Grill'd for dinner.  Went into the Canberra Centre to wash my hands while the sweetie minded my bag.  Tried to buy dessert but the buttplugs at the little macaron/dessert bar near the gym don't take cash (remember I didn't have my bag with me so no credit card).  So I literally said "too bad so sad bye bye" and walked off.  Cranky the rest of the evening.

So generally a pretty damned crap week.

On a lighter note.. seedlings!

Parsley seedlings

Stumpy has been *starving* this week.  He'll often see me in the morning and come running hoping to be fed.  This week had BBT's first visit to the comic store, and the first use of "bazinga" (at the end of season 2).

Saturday took my bridesmaids dress to the seamstress to get fixed up (this is why I never buy clothes on the internet).  In the afternoon we headed out to the club.  Had a bit of a life planning meeting with the sweetie, then had an Oktoberfest feast.  Not of the wombat though!

Today I got photos online for the five Caribbean island shore days we had on our last trip, check them out in the links.

Stu had some "protein pizza" bases delivered this week, so tried those out tonight.  Not bad.

Tonight just BBT and The Good Place, blogging and an early night.

Sunday night neither of us slept well - felt too hot.  But the house was 18C which is how it normally is over winter.  Weird.  I seem to recall having similar sorts of thermoregulation problems last spring as well.

Monday night it took *forever* to label the day's quota of photos - over two hours - normally takes about one.  So no time to do other things on the todo list.

Monday night slept a little better.  On Tuesday evening I burnt copies of the DVDs my Dad made from news reports I taped off TV for the 1994 Como-Jannali bushfires, to give them to Chrissie's Dad who expressed an interested in them when I saw him at Diana and Graham's funeral.  urk that was a long sentence.  I started watching one to make sure it recorded ok.  And couldn't tear myself away.  I haven't watched that footage in like twenty five years, but still get emotional, and still remember names and faces and places pretty vividly.  Except for then premier John Fahey walking through our church grounds the day after, didn't even know I had that.  Go figure.  Chrissie came over to drop off some stuff and picked up the dvds.  Got through my photo quota much much more quickly.

Tuesday night took *ages* to get to sleep.  #grunt.  Went to Officeworks on Wednesday evening to get Kit's Hen's invites printed.  Man I shoulda got them printed properly through their printing house rather than relying on amateurs with a laser printer to do it.  Just a mess.  They even called me in the evening to confirm requirements.

Thursday woke up stoopid early (4:20) and never really got back to sleep.  Went to collect my printouts from Officeworks and they'd managed to stuff up the printing - making them slightly too large.  But it just meant I had to cut into the border bleed area, so it was ok in the end.  But don't think I'd trust Officeworks (in store) with anything that actually mattered.  Watched Pretty in Pink in the evening.

Friday woke up at 5:30 which was a slight improvement.  Saw this at the post office while getting stamps for the invites.

Mobile phone lockup

Watched Licence to Kill in the evening.  After birthday drinks with Neil, Simon and Wello.

Neil birthday drinks

Saturday morning slept in!  Til 6:30!!  Did all the houseworks in the morning.  Started slicing up Kit's Hen's invites.  Stopped when I managed to slice a finger.  Got ready and went to the ball (which I'll save for another post).

There was too much food for me at the ball, which did mean I didn't get too silly, but also meant being a wake for quite a while in the middle of the night trying to digest.  Slept in til 8:30 though.  I didn't have much planned for the day.  Tried to have a nap with the sweetie at one point but think I mostly failed.  I did finish slicing up Kit's Hen's invites and get them posted, and trimmed the cherry tree and a bunch of suckers, and a fish tank water change.  The sweetie cooked salt and pepper squid for dinner and we watched The Good Place.

So Monday was a much appreciated day off.  Caught up on all my blogging.  The internet died for three minutes between 13:22 and 13:25.  Didn't get a whole lot done in the afternoon, although did tidy up the plants on the kitchen window sill and plant some more seeds.  Started season four of The Good Place, and watched Oblivion which was a little confusing, but not too bad a movie.

Tuesday went and got photos for my new passport and submitted the form, although botched my signature and wished I could redo it - I'll be stuck with that for ten years hrmm.  In the evening we were going to go to Raijin in McKellar with EffanC, but they were full so we ended up at Malaysian Chapter.  Which was somewhat disappointing because I was looking forward to Japanese and I really don't like the menu at Malaysian Chapter (I never remember which curries are which, and which are hot or not (and they don't indicate how hot they are on the menu)).  And it was nearly 7:30pm and I was *hangry*.  Grunt.  But did get some food into me and felt a lot better.  For reference I had the Chef's Special Curry with fish, and Stu had the Mamak Mee Goreng which was very nice.

Wednesday was a Lighthouse farewell for our director, and churning through Hong Kong photo labelling in the evening.

Oh we also finished season 5 of Brooklyn 99 this week, and I watched a couple of episodes of Murder in the Bayou at a recommendation from someone at work, but listening to that much bad english got very grating and I found it hard to sympathise.  Getting through season 2 of Big Bang Theory.

Friday was a Lighthouse farewell for a contractor, two pub lunches in one week, oops.  But did share a pizza with Connor both times to avoid overeating.

Saturday morning I did all the houseworkey stuff then did the design for the invitation for Kit's Hen's.  My ~23 year old copy of Photoshop wouldn't run on this computer (it loaded but just spinning wheels and stopped responding) so I downloaded Gimp.  All the tools are much the same as Photoshop, but I had to dredge up the memory on how to use them (and Google a few too).  Mid afternoon David came to visit, and we started a jigsaw.  A couple of hours later Scott and Kerry and the kids came over (they'd been planning to stay a lot longer but got stuck doing a longer bushwalk than they intended, so only stayed for a short while).  Then we headed out to dinner.  Labor Club, with Chicken Kiev for me yumm.

David at the Labor Club

Labor Club dinners

Then back home to work on the jigsaw for a little while.

We also finished off a couple of liqueurs that had been in the house *forever*.  That bottle of Midori I bought when I first moved out of home.  In the year 2000.  The Creme de menthe I've had for nearly as long.  Silly really.

Green spirits

This morning David and I headed out to Gungahlin for brunch (and was shocked to discover the parking under BigW is now paid parking (first two hours free) even on Sundays - how rude!)  David had a chicken and camembert grill and I had a rosti eggs benedict with chorizo that was quite nice.

Coffee Club breakfast

Then we moved the car up to the Coles carpark and went and hopped on a tram!

I'd still never been on the tram, so thought it would be a fun thing to do with David.  Do you think he's having fun? ;)

David on the tram

I remember when this was just a grassy field.  Now there's apartments and a Woolworths..

Passing the Mitchell depot.  I was shocked that there wasn't a tram stop at Mitchell.  Why on earth not?

Ticket inspectors got on around Dickson.  In twelve years of catching buses I don't think I've ever had my ticket checked, but today they checked it on my first ever tram ride (and indeed my second ride on the way back!)

In the city we got off and took some photos, couldn't think of anything worthwhile to do in the city, so jumped on again for the ride back.

David photographing the tram

Tram in Civic

It was a little less crowded on the way back.  The ticket inspectors gave a warning to the drughead behind us who didn't have a ticket.  We wondered how many "warnings" he'd been given.

Interior of the tram

All up from start to finish it took an hour to go into the city and back on the same tram.

On the way back on the tram we saw a house bedecked for halloween, so went and had a closer look at it.

While we were there the owner came home and we were chatting and she said we need to come by again at night to see it all lit up.

And we saw another tram go by :)

Tram in Gungahlin

Then back home, finished the jigsaw, and David went home.

This afternoon mostly finished up the hen's night invitation, but didn't get a whole lot more else done, which was a bit distressing as I've got a *lot* that I *need* to do (like tax).  We did do food shopping though.  And I cooked a lamb roast.

Lamb roast

And so endeth the weekend.

I'm backdating this entry to a week ago.  I was sick last weekend so didn't feel like blogging, then it all got too hard.  I'm also using a View to a Kill quote even though I didn't watch it last week, because otherwise I would have had two to use this week ;)

Monday I got home and put on my washing and sat down at my computer only to find the internet wasn't working.  Rebooted the router but it didn't come back.  Messaged a few people around - turns NBN were doing work all day Monday resulting in various outages.  Damien's internet came back but ours didn't.  And there was *nothing* on Internode, iinet, Aussie Broadband, Telstra or TPG's websites about the planned (or, as it turns out, unplanned) outages.  Fricken useless ISPs.  Stu got home and logged a fault with Internode.  It ruined my plans for the evening (labelling photos) because you need the internet to see geo location of photos.  I did do a whole heap of filing of photos from the past few months though.  But even then I got frustrated because I couldn't check geo locations of photos I was filing, or Foursquare history to confirm locations.

Also on Monday I had to drop the rent on my place in Sydney by $40/week.  Turns out there's a surplus of unit rental accommodation in Sydney and prices are dropping.  Hurrah.

Tuesday there was still no internet.  So no photo labelling, just more filing of photos.  Internode messaged Stu to say they wanted someone on site all Thursday morning.  #grunt.

Wednesday someone accidentally broke everything, so stayed back til 21:30 helping fix everything.  The equinox sunset shone all the way down the floor which was pretty cool.

Equinox sunset

Thursday I flexed off to wait around for the internet to be fixed.  At about 10:20 a dude turns up and barges into the house wanting to see the modem.  I mean literally - he didn't wait to be invited in.  I was pretty cranky about this because this outage WAS NOT OUR PROBLEM.  NBN caused the outage, they should be able to fix it without even needing to come anywhere near our property.  So he looks at the modem and of course gets sad by the fact we have our connection patched into a patch panel and not a direct connection from outside.  Then he wanted to see where the connection came into the house and I showed him the corner of the roof and said way up there.  Anyway he had a bit of a sad and got on his phone and said he was going to go check the node.  Yeah you do that buddy.  I did a bunch of gardening out the front while I waited for him to come back.  About an hour later he came back.  He checked the line and plugged the modem back in.  Checked on my computer and all good!   Yayyy!  Yes, NBN had disconnected us on Monday and hadn't bothered to reconnect us.  Happened to a house three doors down too apparently.  Retards.

But.  Flowers!

Hopped straight on a bus to work (even got a free ride!).  Had quiet drinks and pizza leftover from Wednesday night for dinner.  Had a chat to Kit about her hen's night.

Friday met up with EffanC for drinks and pizza at the Pot Belly (pizza three nights in a row hrmm) then adjourned to their place for a while.

Pot Belly pizza redux

Saturday I woke up with a sore throat.  So a slow start and didn't get too much done.  Then it was hurty which stuffed up the afternoon.  Did food shopping quite late.  Realised that at some point recently, Microsoft FINALLY enabled control-backspace in Notepad!!  I've only been waiting for that for twenty years!!  Still not enabled in our work SOE though.  Watched The Crimes of Grindelwald in the evening which was a confusing mess of a movie.

Sunday still sick.  Had a long lie in although very little actual sleep.  Played through a whole heap of escape room games.  The first few I found were really good, but after that the ones I played were pretty lame - incessant ads (even *in the middle* of doing puzzles) or would lose progess if you got out of the game you were in.  We had to cancel the hanami lunch with Nat and Andrew because Nat was worried about getting sick.  We did have a beer and some honey soy chicken chips anyway.

Hanami

Tried to sleep in the afternoon but failed.  Stu cooked salt and pepper squid for dinner.  Watched the last episode of Veronica Mars season four.  I could see the ending coming like an invetible train wreck and I was NOT impressed.  It was a total slap in the face which ruined the whole last season.  Everyone on IMDB was *pissed* and I don't blame them.

Early night Sunday, and decided I wouldn't be going to work Monday.

Monday came home a bit early and did All The Things.  Spent some time processing photos from our Hong Kong and Singapore trip - which I'd geotagged the originals instead of the resized ones I usually work with.  Also talked to Ric for the first time in well over ten years.

Tuesday we had Cath over for dinner - did lemon chicken and a sweet potato salad - both out of the Coles magazine.

Sweet potato salad

Wednesday finished fixing up the Hong Kong / Singapore photos, and geotagged all Stu's photos from the trip, which I hadn't done before.  Then finished watching Twilight.

Cherry blossoms

Thursday had quiet drinks and an early night, but didn't sleep very well so was a bit of a zombie on Friday.  At least it was a bit quieter than in recent weeks, and even had time to do decommissioning cleanup.  Had quiet drinks after work and watched cranes moving stuff around.  Watched Never Say Never Again in the evening.

Saturday we went out to the club fairly early, but when we got there most of the gardening work had already been done.  Stu helped a bit with that, and I helped chop vegetables, only slicing open one finger.  Like the Chinese New Year one a few years ago, these guys need a bit more practise getting catering quantities right.  We chopped a whole bunch of food that never even got cooked, and what did get cooked could have feed two to three times as many people as came.  So upsetting.  Anyway, the rain washed out the rest of the working bee.  I even tried to have a snooze but just don't sleep well during the day so never even got to sleep.  Didn't get much done in the afternoon either.  In the end went up to the shed for happy hour and dinner.

Didn't sleep very well, awake at 6am.  Took some containers and filled them up with leftovers.  Filled my esky to the brim and barely even made a dent.  Chucked some money in the honesty box, because basically I took home food for our entire week.

Coppins Crossing

Was really tired today and just couldn't concentrate on anything much.  I did get up to the end of the one year in Julie Powell's blog, and then watched Julie and Julia.  A few differences in the movie to the blog, eg them moving to Queens at the beginning of the story when they actually moved part way into it.  And starting on August 13th instead of the 25th.  Odd thing to do.  Maybe to finish the year before the great blackout of August 14 2003 (funnily enough I remembered that date before I read her entry for that day, and wondered how it played out for her.  Turns out they only lost power overnight).  This is her boeuf bourguignon entry.

Cooked up the potato and pumpkin I brought home, and had it with the last of the chicken from Tuesday, and watched Veronica Mars.

This week wasn't as crazy epic busy as the last two weeks which was kinda nice.  I *almost* had time to go back and do some cleaning!

Monday I got home and turned the heater on and nothing happened - it was already warm enough in the house!  Monday's BBT featured the first rock paper scissors lizard spock which was pretty cool :)  I also worked on the trivia night and finished Neil's jigsaw.

It's happy flower season!!

Tuesday morning I was scanning Mum's slides and found one of her in a bikini on a beach in South Australia.  I sent it to Mum and said I was finding fodder for her funeral slide show ;)  She had a laugh as well and said she wants to see the slide show before she dies :)   Not that she's dying or anything but after the sudden loss of Diana and Graham I kinda felt like it's best to be prepared, just in case and all.  Chrissie's family couldn't do a proper slide show because they didn't have access to the house to even get the photos, so they ended up using quite a lot of Mum's photos at the funeral.  Wow that got dark pretty quick.

Also on Tuesday we tried out Yarralumla Kebab's new store.  I'd never been to their original store but had heard good things about it.  I went with the guys who knew the procedure which was good, because as a newcomer it was very confusing.  Turns out you have to know that you have to "fill out a form" on the kebab wrapper to tell them what you want.  But it was a complete shemozzle and we watched people coming in and standing in the queue from either end because it was so confusing.  We even saw people leave.  They need to have instructions or they will lose business.  Meanwhile the kebab I had was as big as my head, and I didn't have any dinner that night!

Belconnen Yarralumla Kebabs

Got home and the house was 20C so there was no point turning the heater on.  Finished the first draft of the trivia night and sent it to Doc for vetting.  BBT had the first mention of coitus.

Wednesday I went over to Chrissie's for dinner and we had wine and toasted Aunty Di with some merlot and had a lovely evening.  Got home and Stu hadn't bothered to turn on the heater because it was so warm.

Thursday was tv dinners instead of pizza (man-sized chicken kiev's, but not super exciting).  Again, no heater.  Watched the first half of Twilight, which I last saw on the plane to Japan in 2009.

Friday was hurty overnight so zombie day due to lack of sleep.  Met up with EffanC (who had to put down dear little Celeste due to old age) and R&F for beer and pizza.  A few tears were shed over the sweet little cat, and then a very pleasant evening.

Pot Belly pizza

Saturday I spent all freakin day on the trivia night - doing a whole lot of reworks and edits after Doc's vetting.  Didn't even set foot out of the house all day.  Finished the second draft by dinner time, had pizza (we were thinking of going out for dinner but it was cold and the sweetie just wanted pizza (let's not even go into how much pizza we've had in our "no pizza week" week - pizza last Thursday, leftovers Friday, club on Saturday, leftovers Sunday, Tuesday with C, Friday at potbelly, then Saturday with leftovers on Sunday.  That's pizza eight days out of the last eleven.  hrmmmmm!) ).  Watched Brooklyn 99 and Octopussy (seriously what insane father calls their daughter "Octopussy" as a nickname??  Thanks Ian Fleming for that weirdness).

This morning I went mountain climbing then spent all day doing the slideshow and table rounds for the trivia night.
