Pizzas and Photos

Sunday was a pretty quiet day.  We were going to go food shopping but then the sweetie got a migraine.  In the evening David dropped in, and we went over to Scott's with various others for home made pizzas in his pizza oven.  That was a bit of fun.

Crazy busy at work at the moment.

And when I'm not busy at work I'm busy doing things like Lego sorting and photo labelling.  I've been powering through labelling our East Asia holiday photos.

On a whim tonight I wanted to see any photos of Queen Mary 2 and Quantum of the Seas side by side to compare the height of their passenger decks above sea level (after a woman went overboard on a cruise on the Pacific Dawn the other week) and found this!

What's so exciting about that?  Well, I was there!  Look!  Can you see me? :)

I was actually on our balcony watching proceedings and watching the drone buzzing around the ship and wondering if I'd ever see the footage (I looked on Youtube for ages).  And just like that I found it :)

This was the drone:

So Sunday was another nice quiet day at home.

I would have gone to the airport open day, but I didn't register for a ticket as soon as I found out - I tried to get in contact with my brother first.  But he was off cruising so didn't get back to me til a few days later.  By which time there were no tickets left.  I got on a wait list, got offered an afternoon spot, but by the time I saw *that* email they'd completely sold out.  Le sigh.  Still, there wasn't really anything new this year so didn't really miss much.  Just crowds.  And people.  I hate people.

So anyway, in the evening David came to stay the night which was brief but nice to see him.

Today I was just trying to keep up in the morning, then a half hour meeting that went for an hour followed immediately by a one hour meeting that went for two hours.  My legs were restless by the end of it making the last hour a special form of torture.

Stu had a crazy exhausting day as well, so we did the logical thing.  We got pizza.  Even though we have a stack of healthy food in the house.  And I felt even worse after.  Le sigh.

Had some security training this week, which was ok, aside from not really actually learning anything, but they thought it would be a good idea to remind us of all this stuff anyway.  Got kicked out of the building early on Friday so went and had a drink with Neil at the Labor Club, which we haven't done in forever.  The training course was catered, so dinner Friday night was leftover wraps (I won't mention that we had pizza *twice* this week hrmmm!! - on Tuesday because Stu had had a crap day and then on Thursday because Kit bribed him to get him to come down and offer some advice on an assignment she was working on).

Saturday was mostly just sorting Vic's Lego (it's not the sorting that's taking the time, it's checking Every. Damned. Piece. for fake ones).  I did pop out to get a UVB light bulb and basking globe for Stumpy.  He'd had a heat lamp at Chrissie's but no UV, so wondering if that's why he's been off his food in recent months.  In the afternoon I slow cooked Lorraine's Asian Style Beef Cheeks which were fricken awesome (and pretty healthy except for all the soy sauce which won't do my blood pressure any favours).  I still think I may need to add some cornflour to the sauce to thicken it, otherwise do it on the stove so can turn up the heat at the end to reduce the liquid down.  We also watched Return of the King, which took All. Night. to get through.  Even though we started only just after 6pm we didn't get to bed til after 11pm.

Friday I did a bit of cleaning up in the back yard.  Did some Lego sorting and watched Clerks.  OMFG such a dumb movie.  Labelled a comedy but I didn't find a single thing to even smile at, let alone laugh at.  What a waste of time.  Had leftovers for dinner and we watched The Two Towers (started just after 6pm, finished nearly 10:30pm).

Saturday spent quite a bit of time helping Pete redo our awning out the back (whoever mounted the sheeting had the edge finish over the top of the edge piece of wood, so whenever it rained water would seep into the wood and it had gone rotten).  Did a Bunnings run and I painted all the bits (Mission Brown FTW!  - as an aside, not happy with the Bunnings guy who decided he could try and sell me something I didn't need when just plain old mission brown would be just fine thankyouverymuch).  Watched Chasing Amy in the afternoon, which was significantly better than Clerks.  At least it had a story.  In the evening we watched Enterprise and Homeland.

Sunday morning was just house bits and pieces.  Finished scanning another album of mum's.  After lunch we headed out to the club to chillax.  Well kinda.  For a non-event weekend there were *heaps* of people there.  Had a bit of a swim, but mostly just sat around and chatting.  Word got out that we were going to fire up the pizza oven, so pretty much everyone brought their own pizzas to cook which was a bit of fun.  Eventually cleared the room when I started singing Queen.  Whoops.

Monday was a quiet day, mostly just sorting Lego and watching Dad's WWII documentaries.  In the afternoon watched Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which was actually quite fun, mainly because of all the self references with the whole series, many of which I got, many of which I'm sure I didn't.  Also did some food shopping and cooked roast beef for dinner and watched some Enterprise.

Been having altogether too many of these.  Woke up at 4:30 and never got back to sleep :(

But backing up a little.

Had a nice quiet weekend.  Did pop out on Saturday for fish stuff, uni to borrow a book for the sweetie and food shopping.  Other than that mostly just Lego and house bits.  Didn't get as much done as I'd have liked, but did get some things done.

Saturday night we watched The Fellowship of the Ring.  Started a bit after six, finished about 10:30.

Last night we went over to EffanC's in the afternoon and chatted for a while, then had a lovely dinner, then watched The Disaster Artist.  So well done it was cringe-worthy heh.

So Saturday night was our work ball.  Lots of eating, drinking and dancing.  Always a great night!

The room was blue.  Very very blue.

Obligatory food photos...

For entree I had the pork belly which was pretty awesome.  The sweetie had the cured salmon and crab but I didn't try any of that.

For mains the sweetie and I both had the stuffed chicken.  I found mine to be a tad dry and wasn't much of a fan of the polenta cake.  I tried a mouthful of Lachie's lamb and that was pretty nice.

We also both ended up with the lemon meringue tart, which suited Lachie and Sarah as they both wanted the chocolate lava cake.

So relatively nice long weekend.  Did a lot of Lego sorting (every day), a bit of food shopping (Saturday), finally cracked 8192 on 2048 (Saturday), Ben over for roast pork (Saturday), some cooking (caramel slice and beef stew on Sunday morning), killifish study group meeting at Serkan's and then dropped off some stuff at Stu's and the kids (Sunday), saw the balloons (Monday), a Bunnings run (Monday), a couple of episodes of Homeland, several episodes of Enterprise and about fifteen episodes of The Addams Family.  I was hoping to do a bit of shower grouting, but that wasn't to be.  But I did get some work done on the trivia night (but again, not as much as I'd hoped).

Ok day today, mostly just doing my own thing.

Leftovers for dinner (if I die of food poisoning it'll likely be from the rice).

Watched some Enterprise with the sweetie, worked on the trivia night (pretty much finished), then watched Postcards from the Edge, which in all this time I've never actually seen.  Did mean for a slightly late night though.

Also, fake Lego should be banned, outlawed, purged from the world.  And anyone that buys that crap sucks.  Just sayin'.

This morning I labelled all the photos I took of all the stuff Mike is going to try and sell.  Still need to get them to him..

After that alternated between sorting Lego and working on the trivia night.  Although sorting became a problem because I had to make an emergency emptying of some of the cardboard boxes it came in due to flooding in our garage (which hasn't happened since we got our guttering fixed).  I knew it rained on and off during the night last night but I had no idea how heavy it was.  We got a couple of streams coming through the garage but fortunately no other damage.  Even late this afternoon the creek at the bottom of the hill was still in full flood.  Amazing, considering how low the lake has been after several weeks of no rain.  Typical of Australia though - droughts and flooding rains.

So yeah, also got three rounds done for the trivia night (only another seven to go..).

This afternoon did some food shopping.  Watched Enterprise over dinner then went back to Lego sorting.

And in other stories of life and death.. Chrissie hasn't popped yet.  And just found out that kid killed in Palmerston the other night was the son of someone I know :(:(

Been pretty busy.  Work.  Lego.  The usual.  ie, nothing interesting heh.

Did some food shopping tonight and finished off the last of the leftovers for dinner.  Although I did need to Tetris food into the freezer tonight so we still have a bit of work to do there!
