David on Crutches

When we were kids, every so often we'd go over to Mum's work friend Marilyn Nestor's place at Eastwood.  It was quite a long drive and I remember getting car sick once.  I also remember being offered lasagna there for the first time, but I was too scared, and even though they said it was just like spaghetti only flat I didn't want to try it.  Silly really because I *love* lasagna now.  Mum and Marilyn would catch up and we'd play with the kids.

One afternoon in late December 1980 or early January 1981 we were playing around in the rumpus or lounge room and David caught his toe on a large pouf.  But even after we got home he was still in pain, so they went and got it looked at.  Turns out he'd broken a toe.  Back then they used to put plaster casts on - they wouldn't do that nowadays.  Mum was worried he'd still be in a cast for his first day at school, but it came off in time.

So forty years ago today Mum or Dad took this photo of David in his cast.

And then just for fun they took a photo of the view from the patio.
