Day 9, Saturday 17 May
So another late night :(
Watched the moon rise which was nice.
I think I slept mostly ok though.
For some reason the breakfasts in this country don't really inspire me. Too many olives and salads and feta style cheeses. The only meat available is super super processed and the eggs tend to only come boiled. So I've not been eating too much at breakfast, then getting hungry later.

This morning we were out the door at 8am.
Our first stop was at Assos and the fortress and temple ruins at the top of the hill - a decent walk up a zig-zagging little street. Spectacular view though.

Then we went to Troas. Not as much to see there, but there were some beautifully preserved pieces of carved marble there. It was also cool to look down the place where Paul probably walked around two thousand years ago.

Lunch was quite nice - rice and salad with a little chicken and veggie hotpot.
After lunch we went to Troy. This city was destroyed and rebuilt like ten times so it's literally layer upon layer upon layer. Some of the walls date back to 3000BC so that was super cool.

Then onto the hotel. From here we can see across to the Gallipoli peninsula. There's a nice looking pool and it goes down to the beach (which has a bit of rubbish on it).

We got here a bit after 4pm, but dinner is at 7:30pm :( I don't understand why they have to make it so late. At least I have time to do photo and blog stuff before dinner, except that the power on the floor died so won't be spending too much time here.
So the power came back after about fifteen minutes. Headed down to the bar and a bunch of us sat around with wine and chatted. Then dinner. I had *meat* - red meat which I'd been craving.
