Kings Court

The Kings Court is fantastic.  Located on deck 7, it's pretty much an all day buffet.  Unfortunately the tendency for me is to eat too big a breakfast, then you don't feel like much at lunch, which is a shame because some of the lunch offerings were great.  The nice thing is they're happy for you to take food back to your room, so sometimes I would pick up a bread roll the evening before so I'd have something to eat before we got around to going up for breakfast, or I'd bring breakfast down for me and/or the husband and we'd eat it in our stateroom.

The food in Kings Court I found to be quite good.  My only complaint was a lack of salad options. Pretty much the extent of salad options was a bowl of lettuce, a small bowl of sliced tomato and a small bowl of sliced cucumber for you to make your own.  I would really have loved some pre-made salads.  I thought the lack of salad options was due to the difficulty in keeping fresh food for extended periods, but they did have lettuce, and that goes off quicker than most things, so some good salads should have been an option.  Still, there was plenty of vegetables and the turnover is quite high so nothing seemed like it had been sitting there for ages.  I loved the huge pump-bottle of mayo!

There were several of these tea/coffee/juice/water stations.  I really liked the cranberry cocktail juice.

I only ever saw this white chocolate fountain once, don't know if it was there all the time, or just in the evenings (we only ever had dinner in Kings Court once after getting back quite late from a shore excursion).

One morning I happened to be up quite early and took some photos of the breakfast buffet before too many people got to it.  Not shown is much of the hot food.

In the evenings the aft part of Kings Court is closed off for "Alternative dining".  For a $17.50 pp cover charge you can try out one of the themed nights.  We went on one of the "smokehouse" evenings.  The ribs I had were pretty good, but I'm not sure it was worth the cover charge when the Britannia Restaurant always had such wonderful food.
