Slept okish. Woke up a bit after 7. Even though the thermostat on the aircon says 18, the best I've seen it go down to is 19.6. hrmm.
Had some cereal for breakfast and did gps/photos/blogging.
Headed out a bit after 11 and picked up Mila. Drove into the city and parked near the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria). Stu and Mila wanted to see the Women Photographers exhibition, and Stu thought there was a guided tour at 12:30. So I went to go get tickets. It was very confusing with a big ticket office area.. but you had to queue for tickets out a little door off to the side. Utterly ridiculous. Everyone else was confused too. So then because the line wasn't moving very fast I thought it might be quicker to get tickets online. Except the buttplugs wanted a $5.50 booking fee. WTF?!?!? Surely they'd *want* people to book online rather than having to pay people to sell tickets onsite. So I refused and continued to line up. Turned out the guided tour is actually at 13:30 on Sundays, so we went to the cafe for some snackages. I got us a mac and cheese toastie which was quite nice but it was $18 WTF??? I HATE captive audience pricing, it's so rude.
After I'd calmed down a little from being ripped off we went and had a bit of a wander around the galleries.
Then went down for the tour at 13:25. It was fairly interesting. I really should take more "thoughtful" photos rather than just snapping crap.
Mila and I went and had a look at St Pauls while Stu waited by the river.
Then Mila left to do her own thing and I went back to the sweetie. It was 15:30 by this point. I really wanted to get some crispy pork buns at Tim Ho Wan. We originally thought of driving back to the hotel and getting a tram in later. But instead we decided to have a drink somewhere then have an early dinner. So that's what we did. Ended up at Young and Jacksons opposite Flinders Street Station and had a couple of beers and watched the world go by.
Then we walked up to Tim Ho Wan and we had baby Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, vermicelli rolls with shrimp, radish cakes and I finally got my fix of bbq pork buns. It's been over three years since I last had some (at Tim Ho Wan in Singapore in 2022).
We took a tram two stops back down the hill then walked back to the car and headed back to the hotel.
Wherein I went and got the sweetie some ice cream. More stoopidly expensive Ben & Jerry's.
Then watched a couple of episodes of Big Bang Theory.
I forgot to plug the GPS into the battery today. The thing currently goes about three hours before it starts flashing low battery. But then it went for another few hours - all the way up to Tim Ho Wan, so didn't lose too much.
