Slept like crap. Felt like I was awake til like 2:00 although I know I missed some of the chimes so it must have been broken sleep. It was definitely hot though - 25C!
Cereal for breakfast and out the door a bit after 9:00.
First stop was Vivonne Bay. We just went down to the beach which was kinda desolate, only it was sunny. I imagine it would be pretty bleak on a cloudy day.
Also took a quick photo of the Vivonne Bay store which featured in the movie Kangaroo Island.
Then to Raptor Domain for the 11:30 free flight bird show ($30pp) which was pretty awesome. It went for like an hour too so it was a pretty good show.
Afterwards we stayed for "hold a raptor" ($30pp for an eagle, $20pp for an owl) which was also pretty amazing.. I got to hold a gorgeous wedge tailed eagle (Nellie).. so cool!!
We drove down to a picnic spot near Beales Beach to eat our lunch (Pam made up a pretty spectacular ham and melon salad .. and the tour guide of the tour group we sat near was envious!).
Then to Seal Bay. Stu wasn't feeling up to doing the tour so we just did the boardwalk ($20pp) which still gives a pretty decent view.
Then it was across a bunch of dirt roads to D'Estrees Bay. I remember Kangaroo Island roads being really rough last time, but the roads were actually pretty good, they really only got rough right near the end on the coast.
We found a spot to view "the arch" at Wrecker's Beach, although scrambled down the hill where I'm sure you're not meant to. The tide was in too so couldn't get through the arch to look back the other way.
Also found a lookout spot on Wheaton's Beach we went to in 1994.
Then all the way back to Graham and Pam's for a couple of beers and a lovely dinner of steak and salad and corn.
Then the gps/photo/blogging stuff I've been neglecting.
