Day 4 - Sunday 11 April - Brisbane to Tamworth

So last night I ask the parents what time we had to leave in the morning. They said well we need to be at church by 9am. So I said cool I'll be ready to go at 8:30. 6:30 they come in and wake me up to go "sightseeing" - to a sight they've already seen no less. Needless to say I was pretty pissed. Nowhere near enough sleep and they wake me up an hour earlier than I was planning to get up. Gonna have to set some rules methinks. I'm going to need to know in advance what time I'm going to be woken up.

The sightseeing trip was the marina in Manly, and the Port Brisbane container terminal. Not overly exciting. Then to church - Wynnum Presbyterian. I realise I've been spoilt by excellent bible teaching in the churches I've been to in the past eight years. Everywhere else I go, the sermons are more just general talks that base themselves loosely on the bible - often just a mere mention of the passage being talked about.

We convinced Dad we should drop into Col's for brunch, which he agreed to under much sufferance. So we only got to stay a short while and he wouldn't even wait an extra ten minutes for the cousins to turn up so we could say hello. What can you do.

So then it was time to head south. We took a stack of photos of a bump of a mountain called Mount Lindesay before crossing the border back into NSW.

Then lots of driving on very wiggly roads.

Dad wanted to climb Bald Rock, but I wasn't so sure my shoes would be up to it. Not to mention I was lugging around the laptop which made my bag weigh a tonne. Plus it was very late by the time we got there - almost 4pm. But I got this bug and wanted to climb it. So we did. Glad we did, although I'm sure my legs will be killing me tomorrow from the very steep climb back down the hill.

It was almost sunset by the time we got down, and we saw about 8 wallabies, including a dead one, on the drive out. Yet we still had four hours drive ahead of us! Our first serious night drive of the trip. I had a shift, and found it much easier to sit behind someone else. That way they could worry about keeping the right speed, and it was much easier to see where the road was leading. Made it to Tamworth just after 10pm.

So I ask the parents, what time are you waking me up tomorrow - and they said sunrise. Yay. Good thing I'll be home tomorrow, I'll need a holiday to recover from my holiday.
