Day 1 - Thursday 8 April - Sydney to Coffs Harbour

So. Day 1. The parents were due to pick me up at 8:30. So I was ready then. When they didn't show up I started sorting Lego. As you do. They eventually turned up just before 9 and away we went. It was a fairly uneventful morning. We paused on Centennary Drive for me to pick up a hash brown (I'd had breakfast almost three hours earlier) then didn't stop again until Karuah. By that time it was lunch time, so we stopped and I ate meat.

Mum had the next shift, and we pushed on to Taree. There we visited friends of Mum's, Fred and Margaret Jaques. We had to connect to the internet there to find out where our uncle lived in Brisbane, as Mum had left the wedding invitation at home. I also squeezed in a chance to check my mail :)

I took the final shift and drove to Coffs Harbour where we found the motel around 5:20pm. The parents went on a pilgrimage to find the Presbyterian Church and Good Friday service times. They failed and ended up calling the manse when we got back. Then found dinner and vegged out in front of the tele.

I got three work calls all day. The best one was from Salome where I could say "well, I'm in Taree so I can't really look at it" heh

There was stacks of police on the road today. Saw several people pulled over by cop bikes, and *lots* of cars patrolling. Tense moment as I went past a stationary cop car at 5km/h over the limit. I didn't see a flash so hopefully I'll be ok. It's actually amazing how *little* of the Pacific Highway is dual carriageway. In fact almost none of it is. No wonder they have so many accidents on it.

It's going to be an interesting six weeks in America. We only did 600km today and we were exhausted by the end of it. Dad wants to do *more* than that each day in the USA, as well as a tonne of sightseeing. The good thing is I don't have to stress about anything, that's someone else's job. All I have to do is follow. Best way to be really :)
