Tuesday 12 May 1981. May school holidays (in the years when there were three school terms per year). Apparently we headed for Newnes, had a look around, then did the walk from Newnes to the Glow Worm Tunnel. I have a feeling we may have stayed the night in Glen Davis, but don't know for sure, maybe Mum would remember.
These cliffs are at the Wolgan Valley Lookout. This spot has a great view of the Wolgan Valley, but unfortunately not in the morning as it's looking straight into the sun.
Here's a couple of photos of the Wolgan River at Newnes. Not exactly sure where unfortunately. Presumably near the ford to the old platform and the ruins, but there's too many trees around now to be sure.
View south, probably from near the ford
Probably the view north from near the ford
Here is Mum, David and me at the old platform at Newnes

I'm surprised we did the walk to the lower tunnel entrance as little kids - it's a four hour walk! We must have been exhausted by the end of it!
