Fun Stuff: April 2022 Archives
This took a bit of work because I'd done some of them years ago, but some of them needed fixing. I'd missed some of the first half as well, and still needed to generate ones from the second half of the trip. But I got there in the end and they're all uploaded now. Let me know if any issues.

(Backdated). Back in April once they finally reopened some of the Sydney Dams, Engineering Buddy (EB) and I went up to Sydney to have a look at some of them. Starting with Warragamba, then Cataract, Cordeaux and Nepean. Sadly Avon is still closed due to repairs on the road bridge, as is Woronora. Three of the dams were spilling which was pretty damned cool. Check out the previous entries to have a look. But here's some other miscellaneous photos from the day.
It was pretty foggy between Bungendore and Goulburn.
Drove past Thirlmere
Had a picnic lunch at Warragamba Dam
Wallacia Hotel
Pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the Hume Highway next to Narellan Road
Pretty drive on Appin Road
Bridge over the Cataract River at Broughton Pass
Drinks and nibbles after seeing Nepean Dam
Kangaroo and sunset near Nepean Dam
Moonrise over Lake George
Nepean Dam was also spilling gently, although the lake was brown.
Cordeaux Dam was spilling nicely, and they hadn't barricaded off the view, so that was pretty special. I was a bit excited :)
Cataract Dam wasn't spilling, but it sure was close, and the lake was a lovely blue instead of the brown at Lake Burragorang.
They're paranoid about someone jumping into the spillway so the view of it is blocked off. #grunt
Did someone say Warragamba Dam is spilling? Let's go see it! I haven't been to Warragamba Dam in probably forty years, so it was definitely time!
First stop was Burragorang Lookout. Unfortunately it was still cloudy in the river valley.
Then onto the dam. We parked up the top then wandered down.
Once you cross the spillway you can walk All The Way down in front of the dam
This is about a good a view as you can get of it spilling
This is all that's left of the suspension bridge
The spillway from the eastern side
You can go part way onto the top of the dam wall, but then it's blocked off
After a spot of lunch we headed out to the Eighteenth Street lookout. But you don't really get a very good view of the dam from there.
