Lego 3723 - Minifigure

Back in January 2005 - yeah nearly twenty years ago!! - I built Lego's original "big" minifigure.  Turns out I never actually blogged the fact!  But after building the new one, I decided I should build the old one again to keep it company!

The last time I built this minifig, I setup my camera on a tripod and took a photo after every "line" of Lego during the build.  I didn't realise just how damned BIG this thing is though, and it went off the top of the page!

I didn't do that this time.

This set is a lot more "blocky".  It's just bricks and plates and hardly anything fancy.  The legs aren't articulated.

With the torso done.  The head will turn here.

This is the cap.  A lot nicer than the cap in the new one, even if it is just plates and bricks.

The right arm

Both arms

Both hands.  These will spin freely but stay in place.

There's some super confusing instructions on mounting the arms.  It seems you can either mount them to be fixed in position (and the position you place the pins in the wheels determines what angle the arms will hang), or let them free spin (but then they'd just hang down by the sides and not stay in place).  Although because it's so confusing it seems like you'd have to pull it all apart to remount things for the free spinning position.  Dunno, never tried it.

So quite a different build to the new one, but still super cool!
