Comment spam has gotten ridiculous again lately. Banning ips works to some extent - except when the spammers use compromised machines to do it!! You end up with dozens of messages from all different ip addresses, which you can't block. I really need to try and figure out how blacklist works. But I think I need to upgrade my MT version first. grrrrr

MT-Blacklist is the only way to go... I rarely get comment spam anymore (I used to get hundreds) and it's super-easy to deal with any that sneak through. http://www.jayallen.org/projects/mt-blacklist/

I use the latest MT and the latest MT-blacklist, which works as an MT plugin. I used to get 1500 a week, and now I only get one or two, which never show up on my site anyway...

The best part about the newer version is that it auto-updates by default, instead of you having to setup a Cron job to do it.
