The C-Word

Back in December 2024 I saw my doctor (LH) for a catchup.  She gave me a list of various blood tests and checks to do before we met again, and asked to see me again around April 2025.  The usual crap - mammogram, pap smear, skin check, bloods.

I was also planning an overseas holiday with my mother for May-June to Croatia and Greece.  So April was all about organising holidays, flu vaccines, covid boosters, and some of the aforementioned tests.  

When it came time to booking a mammogram I hesitated.  It was a bit of a case of "If you don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question".  I could have the mammogram before I went on holidays, but what if they found something?  Or I could leave it til after my holiday, but what if something was there and it'd have an extra month or two to grow?  It was a bit of a dilemma.  In the end I literally thought to myself "What are the chances?" .. and went ahead and booked it.

So I had the mammogram on 24 April 2025.  Well as it turned out, there *was* in fact something there.  And so began my journey with the C Word.

I've decided to chronicle some of my experiences as I remember them, with a lot of notes taken on my computer, my phone and a notebook.
