Day 31 - Saturday 23 March - Bass Strait to Canberra

So I was epic tired by the time I went to bed around 23:00, but it was probably close to 1:00 by the time I got to sleep. Sigh.

The crossing was actually really smooth. I didn't feel much motion at all through the night.

We were late leaving so we were also late arriving. They made a wake up call around 7:55. We were on the bottom deck this time, right at the front. So we saw the first cars leave at 8:45. We were off around 8:52.

Found a local Scottish Restaurant to go to for breakfast. It was truly awful - their food machine alarms were going off THE ENTIRE TIME.

Got some petrol at Wallan and remembered I wanted to see the Southern Aurora Memorial at Violet Town.

We finished Confessions of a Bookseller. Quite enjoyed it.

Stopped in Violet Town and had a look at the memorial garden and had a pitstop.

Then it was pretty much just silence in the car for hours.

Got more petrol in Gundagai, had a very late lunch, and looked at the Dog on the Tuckerbox.

Saw an echidna at Bowning which was pretty cool.

Stopped in at the shops to get a few of the most urgent supplies, and home just before 18:00.

We went all the way around Tasmania and never saw a Canberra number plate. Get home and find a Tasmanian one at our local shops!

It's good to be home, but not good to be back to reality. Certainly not the reality of having to go back to work.

So overall a pretty great holiday. The longest Australian holiday I've ever had! We saw lots of stuff, but there was still *lots* of stuff we missed out on seeing due to lack of time. We could spend a whole extra month and do the same itinerary but see entirely different things.
