Day 24 - Saturday 16 March - Strahan to Stanley

Slept like crap. Well I slept fine from like 20:30 to Dentist Time, then I was awake for hours then broken sleep after that. Sigh.

Slow start and out the door at 9:45.

Headed down to the train station to watch the train leave at 10:00 (10:03) which was pretty cool.

Then just headed north via Zeehan and listened to Diary of a Bookseller.

Had a pitstop in Rosebery and got some petrol.

Found the likely location of a mountain view that Dad had in one of his slides of Mount Murchison. Nowhere to stop and too many trees in the way for the same photo.

Tried to get out to see Murchison Dam but, terrorists. Hence, road closed. I hate people so much.

But we were able to get out to Mackintosh Dam, which is nice enough but just an earth dam.

Also went and looked at Tullabardine Dam just up the road.

Continued north, making a detour into Waratah to see Waratah Falls. Had a picnic there of cheese and crackers and Tim Tams.

Then we finished The Diary of a Bookseller. We relistened to the first chapter because I was so distracted the first time almost nothing sunk in. Then we swapped to Confessions of a Bookseller. It's got a different reader (Peter Kenny) - but he reads too quickly, I prefer the other dude (Robin Laing).

Got to the coast and turned left, and eventually got to Stanley.

Went up to the Visit Stanley lookout (but the big frame gets in the way of the platform lookout).

Checked in then I went out for supplies. The supermarket here is *tiny*. Ended up with TV dinners again. Sigh.

Then gps/photos/blogging.

So as I went to heat up dinner, I put Stu's dinner in the microwave and closed the door. Bang. Then the lights on it went out. Sigh. So took his down to the microwave in the laundry and then went to reception to let them know. Did mine in the laundry as well.

Later when Stu went to have a shower there was no hot water. So went to reception again to let them know that yes a circuit had definitely tripped. The reset it for us and everything was well (although I haven't dared to try the microwave again). Lucky there was a group in there having dinner so reception was open later than usual otherwise that would have been annoying.
