Day 13 - Tuesday 5 March - Hobart

Slept mostly ok. Although I had a funny dream between 5 and 6 - I dreamt I was at Chris' and there was this kid making this breathing noise that sounded like snoring but the kid's father couldn't hear it and I tried telling the kid to hold his nose and breath through his mouth but the snoring sound was still there, so then somehow I tracked down his like mother and step mother or something and was trying to tell them that the kid might have some medical issue with his breathing, and then a bit later the kid was breathing normally and the snoring sound had stopped. Then I realised it was actually the sweetie snoring and it permeated my sleep. !! (that happened to me once in America in 1983, the motel alarm went off at some stoopidly early hour, but I heard it in my dream as someone making a beeeep beeeep beeeep noise..)

Moving on.

Got ready and had breakfast and went out for a walk, hoping to beat the clouds. I failed. But I still had a good long walk and saw the docks, the cenotaph, the Bridge of Remembrance, the Railway Roundabout Memorial Fountain and the Cat and the Fiddle from both levels (although still need to be there for the on the hour for the cow jumping over the moon).

Came back and planned out a long list of things to see around Hobart. Only an hour and half of driving, should be able to cover than in a day ;)

First stop was the Rosny Hill Lookout. Would have been nicer on a clearer day. And if there had been less trees in the way.

Then to Rose Bay High School to find a spot Dad took a photo in 1971. Found the spot, but you guessed it, trees.

Then to a spot on the northeast side of the bridge to have a look, and another park a little further along.

Then to the Botanical Gardens. Had a leisurely hour and a half there wandering around various gardens. Found a few of the parents' photo spots and had a light lunch (shared a ham and cheese toasted sandwich).

Last stop was the Mount Nelson Signal Station which was interesting. Found both of Mum's photos from 1968 based on the exact same park benches that were still there 55 years later. Although the views are crap, because you guessed it, trees. And it's so DRY everywhere in Hobart at the moment. Trees look red and the grass everywhere is dead.

Got back to the hotel and put on a load of washing, but stoopid fancy electronic washing machine/dryer (hotel guest washing machines don't need options for duvets!!) and they took ages.

Meanwhile, did food/beer shopping, gps/photos, tomorrow planning, and got dinner of KFC and veggie bibimbap for dinner while watching Big Bang Theory.

And finally blogging.
