In June 2016, the Queen Mary 2 underwent a month long "remastering". Changes included replacing all the carpet, removing lifts from the Grand Lobby, replacing the Winter Garden with the Carinthia Lounge and giving it a facelift in the process, reworking the King's Court restaurant, replacing the Todd English restuarant with The Verandah restaurant, and adding some single-berth staterooms. But probably the biggest change, and the only one visible from the ouside, was adding thirty-five staterooms to deck 13 forward. The area was previously tennis courts, a bar and a pool, but it was all covered in to create extra staterooms.
