Day 1 - Thursday 22 February - Canberra to Geelong

So didn't get to sleep til like midnight. Because that's what I do the night before I travel. But did sleep in. Til 6:40. Hurray! Except it really wan't a good enough sleep in and my brain was not fully transfunctionating. Which made getting ready a bit slow. Doh.

Got ready and finished getting organised and packed and then it was the job of tetrising everything into the car. Our boot is *tiny* and barely fits much more than two suitcases (stacked on top of each other).

Finally left around 9:52. But we needed sustenance so stopped at the Scottish Restaurant at Gold Creek. Then got petrol. So really didn't get away til after 10:30.

We put on an audio book to listen to - Days at the Morisaki Bookshop - which we finished - it was a sweet story.

Had a pitstop in Barnawartha for petrol (didn't really need it) and a late lunch at Hungry Cracks.

The Hume is now dual carriageway the entire way. It didn't use to be so. We also saw two pools being transported. It rained briefly around Melbourne even though nothing was on the radar. The M80 around Melbourne at peak hour with 100km/h speed limits and a lot of traffic and trucks made me very nervous.

We arrived at our motel in Geelong at around 18:40. I dumped my crap and went out for a wander. Went down to the waterfront which was very nice and then zigzagged back through the centre of town. Picked up a four pack of beer on the way back (the Malt Shovel Taphouse doesn't sell any sort of takeaway beer so got some Volum Brewing Company Lager from the Bottle-O next door).

By this time it was past 20:00 and we decided to have beer and chippies for dinner. Dinner of champions! But hey! It's vegetables right!?!

Then did gps/photos/blogging.
