How was your day dear?: January 2019 Archives

None of my own

Saturday morning was going through Doc's vetting of my trivia questions.  Most of the ones he questioned were from the first trivia night that I ran, which he didn't vet back in the day.  Mostly Neil and DC's questions haha.

Then we headed off to the club, where I forgot to put sunscreen on the top of my chest and got a bit burnt.  Didn't get any more work done on the trivia night.

Today was pretty much all just doing up the trivia night.

So I didn't get *anything* of my own done this weekend :(:(

Tonight somehow the sweetie convinced me to get pizza, and we watched Marie Kondo and the start of the new season of Discovery.  I miss Jason Isaacs! :)

Kit Talk

So just when I was feeling like I might go to bed at like 20:30, Kit suggested a video drink.  So basically we just facetimed for an hour or so and it was almost kinda just a little bit like the real thing.  It was kinda nice actually.

Miss those guys.

What Else.. Flat..

This week I finished processing the random camera photos - rotating, renaming, resizing, geotagging, filing into days.

We've also been watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.  Stu read her book a year or two ago and had a brief burst of enthusiasm keeping his clothes tidy.  Yeah that didn't last.  I'm a hoarder at heart.  Sentimentally attached to everything.  Makes it hard to let stuff go...

Survived the week.  Just barely.  Stu is still sick.  This week felt very long.  Guess that's what happens when you go back for a full week after a long holiday.

Couldn't get to sleep last night.  Too damned hot (the cooler works to an extent, but isn't aircon).  And too much lightning.  I stress over it hitting the house and frying all our electronics.  So bit of a zombie today.  But did delete a whole bunch of stuff that had never been deleted cause people didn't clean up properly.

Just call me Sadie.

Felt pretty blah tonight.

Le sigh.

Where there's rust..

At the end of last year I decided that this rust made the pool too risky to keep, and it would be safer for Kit's and our houses to remove the pool.

Pool rust

It actually doesn't look too bad in this picture, but this piece of steel is actually cosmetic.  It's the sheet behind that is structural, and we couldn't see the condition of that.

Pool rust

We were heartbroken to see the pool go, and ever since I've been second guessing myself and feeling like I "murdered" the pool.

We had the pool removed, and then we saw this...

Pool rust

Pool rust

So as it turns out, the inner shell was actually very badly rusted at both the top and the bottom.  It does in fact look like it was close to splitting open and flooding our yards.

I still feel very sad that the pool rusted and died like that, but at least I feel like I've done the right thing now by removing it....

Back to reality today.  Wasn't too bad I guess.  Two hours catching up with emails.  Some planning for trivia next week (I somehow got talked into running a trivia night).  And fixing something I broke last year.

Tonight was Good Place, and processing and geotagging photos.  Have been doing the little Sony, making decent progress there.

Processing

Got a bit more done on Saturday but not as much as I'd have liked.  Cooked a "butter chicken" from a recipe I got off Neil, but while it was nice enough it really didn't taste like butter chicken.  Watched some Good Place in the evening.

Slept somewhat better on Saturday night, other than hurty.

Sunday was just more of all the things, primarily processing holiday photos and sorting email.

Stu needed to get a new shaver as his old one finally died. So we paired that with some dry cleaning, a hair cut for him, and some Coles shopping.

Cooked some roast pork for dinner that turned out quite nicely, and had the other Stu over for dinner.

And now back to reality .. hrmmmm..

Did You Miss Me?

Did anyone actually miss me?  Prolly not.  Shrug.

We've been off galavanting around the world again.  Got back yesterday morning.

Kept moving for a couple of hours when we got home, eventually succombed to a snooze after lunch (some leftovers I pulled out of the freezer) for a couple of hours.  Had to force myself to get up and keep moving.

Had pizza for dinner because there was no food in the house.  And the sweetie wanted it.

Then collapsed into bed.

Woke up at 3am this morning after seven hours sleep.  But couldn't get back to sleep.  Gave up around 5:30 and got going.  Had a very productive morning.  Did some food shopping.  Haven't been so productive since we got back though..
