Fun Stuff: September 2016 Archives
I couldn't help myself. I had to go see it. In the rain.
Yes I was there for the first international flights both arriving and departing from Canberra!
Boeing 777-212(ER) 9V-SRP

David said they missed the planes and got the whole airport
I know that 737 is a lot further away but *damn* the 777 is big in comparison - it's like twice the size!
Planespotters! Not shown: the other guys with their SLRs
Lovely view up close on the taxi way
Going ..
Going ..
Gone!
And as an extra added bonus, the car park had free parking from 7am to 11am for the event!
Saw this super cool light wall in the Canberra Centre the other week. It's interactive - you can press the lights and they change colours and turn on/off. I totally want one.

Also saw this and thought it was pretty cool. Is there anything more you need in life?

I saw this Australian Kestrel on the rocks under Sea Cliff Bridge. I cautiously got closer and closer to it and it just sat there looking at me. Got within a couple of metres, went past it, and it was still there when I got back, before it flew off.

I don't think I've ever managed to get a photo of this. There's either no rocks there, or I'm driving and it's too hard. This time there were rocks on both signs, although a car was stopped right in front of the second one #grunt

So while the Sea Cliff Bridge opened when I was still living in Sydney, I never got around to seeing it. And then I moved to Canberra so opportunities became limited. But the other weekend I was leaving Sydney in the morning, and the weather was right, and I didn't need to rush home, so I went down and saw it.
It's pretty difficult to photograph from the top, so went down the rockshelf beneath to get better pictures.

So I never did get to see James Turrell's Retrospective at the Art Gallery (which I'm still pretty annoyed about).
But I did see his Skyspace on the weekend. Really need a super wide-angled lens tho. And maybe an overcast day for different lighting..
