Went over to Kit's and played with the animals..

When I first saw mention of 2048 in xkcd I didn't really pay any attention.
It was only when a guy at work mentioned it again that I had a look.
Then I had to play it until I got 2048 :)
Did it eventually while in Sydney.

I've since gotten it out quite a few times - been on a mission to get 4096 .. I'm getting closer ..

Met up with Luc after work for drinkies at the Baxter Inn. We split four different whiskies so we could try some different kinds, although we mostly stuck with the Islays.
First up a Longrow Campbelltown limited edition ($19). Only 9000 bottles made in small casks. Very smooth. Strong smell, but not peaty. This was Luc's favourite of the night.

Then a Laphroaig Triple Wood ($13). Not a strong smell to start with, although released more vapour after being warmed up a little. This was nicely smokey, but a bit bitey. Luc wasn't as much a fan of this one.

Askaig ($20?). A bit smokier and smoother than the one above, I liked this one as well.

Bowmore ($17). This one had some very interesting flavours. Luc said honey and herbs and sweet - would go well with dessert or Christmas cake. Kinda like burnt ginger snap. I found it a little bitey and quite interesting.

We also shared a cheese and nibbles platter, which became my dinner.

Then I had their signature drink, which is half a shot of this drink, mixed with the juice of one apple.

Yum!

Look at the bottle of Monkey Shoulder!

I finished off with a Big Peat ($11), a blend

And Luc had The Peat Monster ($16)

Fun times :)

Not a regular follower of news, I had no idea the Canberra Airport Open Day was on until I drove past the sign to it on Friday night when I was heading out to the club.
But it was dilemma, because I needed to be in Sydney by 2pm. So I decided I'd make a flying visit (arf arf) and go for just an hour and try to get onto one plane.
Coming from the Queanbeyan side of the airport was an epic win. I turned straight into the carpark and only had to wait a minute or so to get in. Traffic from the north was backed up for who knows how long.
I parked and hurried up to the gate just after opening. I headed straight down to the 717 as I'd never been in one of those before, and there didn't look to be much of a queue. As it turns out, they were still securing the plane so noone was allowed near it yet. I was there less than a minute when they opened it up and I was in the second group of people to go through it! Win!

Got to set in the pilot's seat too :) I asked the copilot whether it is "ok" to poke my head into the cockpit after flights as we're getting off, and he said generally it is, so might have to do that some time :)

Then I walked up and down the line of planes taking photos and generally marvelling at being up close to planes :)

The crowds!! It was super super busy this year. Definitely getting more and more popular.

So then I headed for Sydney. The traffic around the airport was INSANE. Every approach to the airport was completely choked. Traffic on Majura Road was banked all the way back to Mount Majura - probably nearly ten kilometres north of the open day entrance. Hopefully the airlines were a little lenient with late arriving people to the airport...

I like candles. Rarely burn them though. But when the weather turned cooler recently I thought I'd burn through some of the stash that we seem to have accumulated from Stu's stepmother as Christmas presents.

Spent entirely too much of my March free time doing the last section of my "Life" jigsaw...

So that's Life complete!
Just look how thick it is - twenty four layers of 1000 piece squares

(it's on layers of paper so that when I set it up on the floor it won't get dirty)
These were a couple of jigsaws TJ brought in for us.
The first was super simple

And the next was tricky but fun

This is a little one of Chicago. I think this was one from my brother's collection .. maybe..

And this little one I borrowed from DC's coast house took me about two and a bit hours in front of the tv. I did a bit of the edge one night, and the rest the next night.
