So in nearly a year and a half of Covid, Canberrans haven't needed to wear masks.
We just haven't really had covid here. In a year and half, Canberra has had 124 confirmed cases, and 3 deaths.
There was a bunch of cases in March last year, but they were basically all returning travellers and their close contacts. There was a family that came back from Melbourne in the middle of last year that had it. Other than that, mostly just returning diplomats.
In March last year it was actually not even possible to get masks - they simply didn't have enough of them in the country, other than for health care workers.
But Sydney has gone and got itself into a mess again. This time with the highly infectious delta variant.
And Canberra recently had a hotel full of Sydneysiders who had breached lockdown.
And so masks.
Just indoors, and not while at work (well unless you work in a cafe or supermarket or whatever). Stu's had a fancy mask since the bushfires. I have a few KN95 masks and a small pack of disposable ones, but have also ordered a reusable cloth one, as chances are I'll need it when travelling any time in the next few years.
The next round of fun begins..
