The One Year Scan and Followup

Thursday 16.4.26

After we got back from our holiday around Southern Australia in March, I booked an appointment with Dr RW (my surgeon). A week or so later I called them to see if I needed a referral, didn't get onto them, they called me back and wanted to move my appointment from May to April, but I said I hadn't had the MRI yet, so I had to scramble to book that. The surgeon's office called me a couple more times, one literally a few minutes after the first call, where they were very confused and had had me booked with another surgeon. I was convinced the secretary was losing her mind a little, and now I wonder if I really could have had my appointment in May after all.

So today was the MRI. Stu picked me up from work, dropped me off, then wandered off to the Jerrabomberra Wetlands to do some bird watching. I went in filled in forms then waited for my appointed time, and they were actually right on time. Pretty much the same experience as last time - face down, cannula to inject dye half way through. Unfortunately they said they had to redo one of the images because I moved too much. It's so damned hard to breathe in those things - you're lying face down so there's already pressure on your ribs, and they tell you to breathe shallow, but then how much is enough and before too long I was getting out of breath and felt like I needed to breath more. So no idea what a good balance is. Stu picked me up again after and dropped me back at work. Now we wait....

Went out to Calvary to see Dr RW.  It was a 9am appointment so parking was still doable without any issues.  OMFG she's leaving!!!  She's only been in Canberra a year but is moving to Mackay for her husband's allergies.

Anyways so apparently the MRI all looks fine.  She reckons a mammogram with contrast is possibly slightly better for detecting the earliest cancers though.
