So now I had to get some more scans. BreastScreen in the city do a "one stop shop" where you go in for the whole day (if you're unlucky) to do various scans and talk to the doctors.
I arrived at BreastScreen in the city at 8:10. Then played an in and out game. First up was waiting in the outer waiting room. Then inside to the inner waiting room. Then talked to a nurse where she took some details and gave another spiel about what they do. Also talked to one of the volunteers.
The first scan was a 3D xray mammogram, which was done by 8:50.
Then waited around while they decided whether to do an ultrasound or not. So they did that, which was done by 10:00.
After that they decided I'll likely need a biopsy.
Saw one of the doctors (Dr RW, on her first day!) and she did an exam but couldn't feel the lump, because my boobs are super dense (literally everyone commented on how dense my breasts are). She said that based on the scans the lump was about 1.3cm. That chat was done by 10:23.
Then talked another doctor where they went through the spiel of biopsies and got my consent for that. That was done by some time before 11.
Waited around for a bit then they said they probably wouldn't need me for at least 3/4 hour, so I went to vote. As you do.
Some time after 12 they mentioned there were jigsaws, which had mostly been kept away since before covid. So we got one of those out and a couple of us worked on it for a while.
Eventually I got called in for the biopsy. Had like five or six people in the room. They used an ultrasound and took four core samples, as well as leaving a titanium clip in there for future reference. Interestingly they did have some issues getting the needle into the lump. It kept pushing away so they had to brace from other side. I'm hoping that's a good sign and a well encapsulated benign growth.. (yeah I know literally nothing, ignore me).. The gizmo they use to take the biopsy is LOUD and it was right next to my ear so it hurt. After the first two I used a finger to block my ear because did I mention it was LOUD?
Waited around some more and did the jigsaw, then back with someone to go through the after care procedure.
How the hell is anyone meant to see anything in this trash?
Finally out the door at 14:13 then took a bus home.
